To go off Ghost of the Year's post. College sports team and European soccer clubs have nicknames like Stanford Cardinal and Manchester United Red Devils.

Something else I thought of recently....There was a time I actually thought funnel cake was cake through a funnel. Meaning it's like abunch of cake/frosting blended up and fed to people through a funnel, like when people at a party drink from a funnel.

Mostly cause the only people I used to hear talking about funnel cake were teenagers and stuff.

I'm sure I'll think of better examples for this thread later, but a couple things that still blow my mind:

The kid in Angels in the Outfield is Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Claire from House of Cards played Jenny in Forrest Gump.
