Mj had pippen, and as good as Kobe is people are forgetting he was demanding a trade to the bulls not too long ago because he wanted the same thing lebron wants which is to win.And because it didn't get done he's let off the hook.

Exactly when has a player won a chip "on their own"?
Throuh this whole process of LeBron leaving the cavs I've seen over and over again that "this proves he can't do it on his own". I can't think of one great player who didn't need a robin to be their to help them win their rings, but just because it lebron people bash him?In 2007 lebron led a (in my opinion) horrible cleveland team to the finals and I can't think of 1 man carrying a team the way he did.

The point is that he didn't GET a Robin. He BECAME Robin. And AI dragging the 76ers was much more impressive than LeBron carrying the Cavs, IMO.Originally posted by G PericoIf I ain't got it, then I gotta take it

The Dream won....without anyone even close to being a 'Robin' in 1994

Kobe has played Robin. But people respect him much more now that he's Batman.Originally posted by G PericoIf I ain't got it, then I gotta take it

I think the best way to define it ( maybe I think of a better) but when you are clearly the go to guy on your team and the seen as the leader. Kobe is clearly the go to guy on their team. Go to guy just doesn't refer to last shot but when your team really needs a bucket throughout the game. There were plenty of other examples to use but Kobe is the best recent one to win a championship."Ma'am I don't make the rules up. I just think them up and write em down". - Cartman

Re: Exactly when has a player won a chip "on their own"?
Absolutely.
That Houston team had to get past some very, very good teams in the west...Utah with Stockton and Malone...Sir Charles Suns team...a rapidly building Sonics team...a very good Spurs team led by the MVP David Robinson...and then they beat out a very, very tough Knicks team.
In a lot of those series the Rockets were behind...even down two games.
Dream just never gave up and simply carried them to the championship.
We'll probably never see a single guy lead a team like that ever again.
I don't mean to criticise LeBron again...but I think people kind of expected him to have the same level of drive and determination as Hakeem and Michael Jordan. He simply doesn't have that same type of personality and determination. 99.9% of players don't though...Comment

Re: Exactly when has a player won a chip "on their own"?
2002-2003 NBA Season ring a bell for anyone? Tim Duncan carried a defensive-oriented team to the NBA title without another teammate scoring more than 14.5 ppg.
The whole "he needs a Robin" thing is bull****. Like Duncan told LeBron in 2007, "this is going to be your league very soon. But, thanks for letting me get another one." I guess LeBron didn't believe that he could take a team to the promised land "all alone." All he needed to do was impose his will on his opponents, while giving his all and the championships would've eventually come.
so i guess clyde drexler is just chopped liver huh? NOBODY has ever won on there own I dont care what you say because there is simply no one that has done it...and if you think for one minute that without good trades and draft picks by the Bulls that MJ wouldnt of left your crazy because MJ wanted to WIN just like LBJ wants to do now.Last edited by J_Posse; 07-09-2010, 08:26 PM.San Antonio Spurs 5 - Time ('99, '03, '05, '07, '14) NBA Champions
