    Doubles, Triples?

Are you guys getting a fair amount of extra base hits? I know last year this seemed to be a bit of an issue and this year so far, through about 10 games I've only had about 3-4 extra base hits. All of which have been shots down the line. Are you guys getting doubles into the gaps?

Right now I am playing on HoF so I'm starting to wonder if I need to go back down to All-Star.

I thought you didn't want the game?

Well, glad you decided to give it a shot. I've seen balls in the gaps. Kind of the only way I'm getting doubles. The ball tends to slow down a bit down the lines. I feel that it should continue to roll to the wall rather than have the fielder run over to it.

But, yea, I'm seeing doubles mostly in the gap.

And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Yeah, I've had doubles in the gap, down the line, off the wall, singles that I've stretched into doubles, and doubles on hits that go over the fielder's head. I've gotten a few triples in these instances as well, mainly shots down the line that curve into the corner.

No problems here with extra base hits.

i've hit some down the line that have rolled all the way into the corner but have had some that do slow down but i think it's cause they just weren't hit hard enough. i've also had some gappers and some that were hit over the outfielders heads, i play on all-star mainly, it's hard enough for me and may move to vet yet, lol.

What level are you playing on, and do you have any slider adjustments? I remember an early video where it showed an outfielder taking a more realistic angle to the ball. Have you seen any bad angles? This was one of the main reasons doubles were difficult to come by last year, everyone took perfect angles on balls and cut them off perfectly. Good to hear all of the ways extra base hits can hit. I just haven't played enough games I guess and/or I am not hitting the ball well enough.

I play on Legend without slider adjustments. I do use Guess Pitch(classic 1/6) and it did take a while to get used to the new swing mechanic and getting my timing down.

Can't say that I've seen a fielder take a bad route to the ball, but they do take a more realistic approach to the ball instead of "morphing" over to it like last year. I've seen them mis-play balls that come off the wall and balls that bounce around in the corner.

I know its cheesy and jerkish sounding to say, but if you haven't given it a shot, try Batting Practice. I did and it help me get my timing down and I turned in the PCI and it helped me better understand the new swing mechanic.

I havent seen many doubles on my end...but then again I pretty much suck at hitting right now...Ive had a couple, Orlando Cabrera hit one over left fielder and off the wall for a stand up double and Ive had a few doubles with the yanks at the sox when I hammered a few off the monster. Not sure if it was just me being upset but I kinda feel like some fielders get to balls hit in the gap a lil too easy

Legend / HOF / Default. No problems with extra base hits....down the line...in the gap....over the head...

I'm going to say this and its going to sound like I'm being snobby or questioning your intelligence of baseball, and its truly not how I am meaning it, so please don't take it that way.

But just because a fielder reaches a ball in the gap doesn't mean that you can't get a double out of it, especially with an above average or better baserunner/hitter.

I was implying that the fielder caught the ball for an out that I hit right in the gap....not that he fielded it before it went to the wall.....but like I said im still having some issues with batting and a few times I had excellent contact and it was heading right into the gap and the outfielder ran it down....really ticked me off, so Im not saying that its a problem in the game but more that its very frustrating.

Might be a dumb question, but what is PCI?

I feel ya, and I don't mean this the wrong way but, yeah, it is frustrating but that's baseball. As a former player and a high school coach there is nothing more frustrating that hammering a ball for an out. Then another batter will nub one off the handle and it bloops in for a single. Baseball has a strange sense of humor.

I feel ya man...Played baseball all my life too and I know how frustrating it is to hit that sweet spot and still not get on base....but its frustrating for me that im having a hard time hitting this year, I used to knock the cover off the ball in 08.....but I like it, its a challenge im gonna conquer

I've gotten a bunch doubles, no triples, and 1 inside the park HR.
Beltran hit one off the top of Teal monster in Florida. It bounced back and over Maybin head and beltran was gone. The throw to the plate was way off line. That was awesome never have done that before.
