    Anybody playing in 1080p?

I just got the game this morning and have been playing exclusively on 1080p and I haven't noticed any hiccups or anything that would make me want to go down to 720p.

I'm just wondering if anyone else is using 1080p or if anyone has played with btoh 1080 and 720 and noticed any differences. I know the game is native 720p but upscales to 1080p but figured this could make some good iscussion.

You don't notice an issue because it is still running in 720p. (I asked at the CE)

There is no more native 1080p anymore. Too taxing on the hardware. The game is just upscaling to 1080p but still 720p.

No different than leaving it at 720p and letting the TV scale it. Unless the devs got the PS3 to scale better than the TV hardware.

But most high end TVs will have a better scaler chip than cheaper HDTVs. So sometimes the images can appear more crisp on one set to another. Depending on the combination because the PS3 may scale better than the TV and vise/versa.

Mine is better in 1080p but I have a good tv so that is probably the reason.

Yeah - I have a nice Sony 1080p, the game definitely looks better and runs smoother than it did using 1080p last year

TV has zero to do with this. The game is not running on 1080p. You are just forcing a resolution that is not supported by the game. If you have good eyes you can see the rubber on the mound is pixelated on 1080p and not on 720p where the game is suppose to run at.

Also the edges of the scores way in the back drop are pixelated around the edges.

You are not getting any advantage to running on 1080p as you did in 09 version.

10 and 11 have taken out the 1080p

So, should I turn off support for 1080i and 1080p on my PS3 to I automatically default to 720p?

I always play on 1080i or p, can't check since I changed my settings to record with my BlackMagic shuttle. I used to lag on it but then I used a different channel and it works at probably 50 fps
Why did I move here? I guess it was the weather.

Correct about not having native 1080p. But some high end TVs and high end receivers will have a better scaler chip so the image, while still 720p native, will appear "cleaner" than the the PS3 or 360s scaler.

That is why it is beneficial if you have a nice Onkyo in the high end range to run the HDMI through that and let it do all the scaling, since the scaler chip in them is best on the market.

And it will ultimately provide a cleaner scaled image than the ones in the game machines, TVs or DVD players.

You can keep all those checked. The game will automatically run at 720p.

                    Re: Anybody playing in 1080p?

i noticed more of a "halo effect" surrounding the players(mostly on the closeups). meaning almost a white blurry outline on players using 1080p. so i just set the p3 to 720 when i play the show.

I have an Onkyo receiver which has the great scaler but it makes no difference in the pixelated rubber and scoreboard

This was proven last year as well

I am not saying you are losing pq on 1080p but you diff not getting a better quality then 720p

Why do you guys think the game has no issues with the frame rate anymore on 1080p

Because it no longer offers 1080p which the show is not optimized to run at

I want somebody to show me a screen show of the rubber on the mound on 1080p

if your tv has 1080p capability, then definately force 1080. It looks far crisper than 720.

I am telling you it looks crisper on my TV with 1080p set instead of 720p. But you guys keep thinking the opposite.
