Re: Official New Orleans Saints Thread
Ingram out first 6 weeks. http://www.rantsports.com/new-orlean...-miss-6-weeks/
Have to admit when we moved up to draft him I was extremely excited, but after seeing what Sproles has done for us and Ingram's absence I think I have buyers remorse.Comment

Re: Official New Orleans Saints Thread
I have no buyer's remorse at all yet, but if I could do it again i'd probably go in a different direction just purely based on need.
Ingram impressed a lot of people during the past offseason, was high on people's boards, showed some flashes in the regular season, etc. I'm not gonna judge based on a season or so, with the recent track record of RBs who knows how much longer Pierre Thomas will be effective for. I like Chris Ivory, but we've seen his injury record as well plus I don't think he hits the holes as hard as he should(sometime dances around the LOS as seen in the SF game)
I read somewhere that the surgery was a little more minor then initially reported, i'm all for cleaning up a knee now rather then in the season.Saints, LSU, Seminoles, Pelicans, Marlins, LightningComment

Never wanted him always thought he was the 5th or 6th best back in last years draft. I immediately saw it as a wasted pick. You looking at the Chair MAN!

Re: Official New Orleans Saints Thread
Definitely showed some flashes towards the end, and at the time I did think running back was a big position of need for us. Especially an every down type back after coming off the 2010 season. Looking at it in hindsight, and what could potentially be a constant issue with his knee I don't think there was a lot of value in that pick.
Then again had we not traded our first rounder for him, more than likely it would have been taken away due to bounty gate.Comment

Re: Official New Orleans Saints Thread
When I found out we had traded up my immediate thought was were drafting Daquan Bowers. I thought that was a much bigger area of need than RB. I thought we took Jordan because he was healthy and could play right away. Then we'd come back and take a guy that could potentially be a top 3 pick had he not gotten injuried. Boy was I wrong. You looking at the Chair MAN!

Re: Official New Orleans Saints Thread
I can't believe you're still whining about that. There's a reason that Bowers fell as far as he did, there was no guarantee that he would come back from his injury and the year prior, the Saints had to rely on Reggie and Julius Jones as the only running backs in the playoffs.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. Don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise.
If I went any bigger, it would not have properly fit with my equipment, so I had to optimize. I'm okay with it, but I also know what I'm missing with those five inches. :)Comment

Re: Official New Orleans Saints Thread
Who's whining? We are looking back on the decision and I'm giving my insight. I clearly stated Bowers wasn't ready and that's why he fell so far. If your going to call me out at least make a point I haven't made already. Player get hurt every year. That doesn't mean you go and draft a player at that position. If you want to support the decision to draft Ingram fine, but don't be mad because it's looking like I was right.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. The lockout played a big part in drafting Ingram IMO. If they could've signed Sproles before the draft, I doubt they trade up to get Ingram, or at least they would've let him slide a little more and given up less.
Everyone thought the Saints did the right thing in drafting him, including myself. That same thought, I don't think anyone expecting Bowers to compete the way he did his rookie year, which is why he slid so far.
Maybe he doesn't turn into the every down back you expected, but w/ Thomas, Ivory, and Sproles, you don't need him to yet.Originally posted by MoJust once I'd like to be the one they call a jerk off.Originally posted by MoYou underestimate my lazinessOriginally posted by Mo**** ya

When you're a team that uses multiple running backs and you see those running backs get hurt, then you go out to increase depth and talent at that position. The Saints' drafting philosophy has been to get the best player at their spot and it has worked out for them since Payton and Loomis started working together. I'm not mad at all, I didn't care one way or the other that they drafted him. I don't see where you clearly stated anything about Bowers falling, what you did say was that you thought that the Saints were moving up to draft him and was mad because he wasn't the pick.
I'm not sure how you define "whining". For you it appears that if you disagree, and comment on something your whining. You looking at the Chair MAN!

Nope, that's not whining. You bringing it up in multiple threads, in one case completely unprompted a year after it happened, is whining.Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters. Don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise.

The unprompted part referred to another thread (the Jim Brown thread specifically), which is why I said you've brought it up in other threads. Since when do you have to be angry to respond to someone on here?Originally posted by BlzerLet me assure you that I am a huge proponent of size, and it greatly matters.
