Anybody else bothered by 2K's utter refusal to get sneakers right?

I feel like it doesn't get brought up enough here because not enough people here care.

Jerseys and hairstyles seem to get more people going than anything, but there are some of us who actually want the sneakers to be accurate and 2K refuses to listen.

We had a thread going for sneakers last year, but it did little to help the authenticity of shoes in the game.

2K - Are you guys blatantly trolling? Or do you really have one of the laziest art departments in sports gaming?

Look at Jordan's shoes in the picture above. Now look at how they are supposed to look:
    Spoiler

This was the final straw for me. I don't have a PC and I don't plan to buy one. I shouldn't have to mod the game in order to do 2K's job for them.

I'm just curious to know if 2K is going to continue to piss off/disrespect an entire subculture for the 3rd year in a row.

Because they don't seem to care to address it at all...

Although a lot of people can live with those ugly generics and don't even notice, I understand u perfectly because I'm one of those that find real gear an important point to add immersion and realism to the game.

Too bad that the art department don't put the same effort than the rest of the team, because if they did the game would be close to PERFECTION. IMO it is their weakest point.

I hate to be one of those guys that gripe about small things but its true. These arent things that make or break a game but they are really missing a chance to give fans those extra "Wow" moments. No excuse for the most popular bball brands to be jacked up. The Jordan 11's and 13's are hideous in 2k.

to this day I've never cared about shoes. I still don't know what people's obsession is with them.

You can't even notice them during play, even on a huge HD set. Except during maybe freethrows.

            You can't. I definitely can.

And yes. It's driving me mad. It looks to be another year of incorrect kicks. Ugh.

I really can't stand these threads. Were talking about shoes. Not gameplay, not glitches, not extra modes that can be added but shoes.

While I do get your frustration, I truly can't care less. That doesn't mean I don't agree with you. I care about other things in a game, and I would not like it if they didn't improve those things, so from your standpoint I would be annoyed too, but do you seriously consider it a gamebreaker?

You have to remember that there are licensing issues in play. It is entirely possible they arent able to secure the property rights to some of these shoes/brands, thus we have generic shoes. Its not like 2k is blatantly doing this to piss us off...legally they cant do it if they dont have the proper licensing.

I'm not a big sneaker-head but having licensed shoes does make the game look better. I wouldn't call their art department lazy because they do a great job imo with little things like tattoos, even on players low on the totem pole. I go in and switch the shoes myself to something better looking. But it would add a lot to the overall look of the game if they dedicated more to not using generics so much.

No, but this thread infuriates me. It seems that along with the constant parade of the legends for the 25+ crew, the only other faction of the customer base that gets any worthwhile attention are the shoe fetishists, and I'm sorry I CANNOT call you anything other than that. To me, you are the equivalent of NBA players who wear glasses with NO SPECTACLES. You guys had a thread on here with scores of pages and it seemed with 2K12 that every update was just for a NEW SHOE and NOTHING ELSE.

I'm sorry but you're just going to have to get in line with the rest of us, Crewites, OA players, basketball fundamentalists, offline association players, online-only players etc. We're all vying to eat at the table with the master and enjoy any morsels of virtual delight that may come our way, AND WE'VE got bigger stomachs to fill. So no offense, but I think you should just be happy in the children's highchair, because at least 2K is paying attention to you. The rest of us are shunned, while the Legend Romantics are eating, drinking and being merry.

It's not just the fact that generics are used too often, but certain color combinations aren't possible at all (like AJ 11 Space Jams, Cement 4's, etc.). But like mentioned, at least you can assign real sneakers to players (although it takes a long time to assign a pair to every player).

I try not to complain or start threads about this kind of stuff (aka crew complaints), but it's good to know someone else finds it just as annoying as I do.

Maybe there's a licensing issue. Point taken. I'm pretty sure they don't intentionally just try to ignore or diss show freaks. I think you're over-reacting with that statement. But you have a gripe.

Lol why do people act like all facets of the game can't be great instead of just one? Gameplay is important, but so is presentation and authenticity. 2K is supposed to be the poster boy for simulation basketball games. Well "simulation" doesn't just mean replicate what goes on on the court, it also means what goes on off the court as it's an NBA game, not just a basketball game.
