    Killzone: Shadow Fall

The game is set in a near future, thirty years after the events of Killzone 3. The world is a very different place; two rival factions known as the Helghast and the Vektans live side by side in a futuristic city, divided by a vast wall.

Tensions are high, and the cold war they are embroiled in is about to go hot. In the midst of this all stands a Shadow Marshal, you. The most special of the special forces, tasked with maintaining the delicate balance.

From responding to bold attacks, to quiet infiltrations or all out combat, you will be required to adapt and think on your feet as you have to face a variety of escalating events that could destroy your home world.

Looks impressive. Still taking a wait and see type of approach with the next consoles, but that does look like a decent step up.

Looks OK, nothing jaw dropping, Crysis 3 on PC may look a little better.

German gaming site 4players.de interview with Guerrilla Games Herman Hulst.

Will 60FPS at a Full-HD resolution be the new standard on PS4?

No, not necessarily, because the developers are free to chose how they want to use the available resources. In the case of Killzone Shadow Fall, the Dutch developer agreed on 30FPS at 1080p resolution

IGN: Killzone: Shadow Fall Has Made Me A Believer

Guerrilla Games is crafting what, to me, is most reminiscent of what a game would look like if Killzone collided with something more akin to Crysis. No, Shadow Fall doesn’t take place on a single wide open map that can be explored at will, but it does take place on a series of large, non-linear maps that encourage you – and outright require you – to tackle concurrent objectives in any order of your choosing. As a result, Shadow Fall is immediately deeper and more tactical than any of the core Killzone titles that came before it.

                Re: Killzone: Shadow Fall

Smart move for Sony to make this a launch title. It will give Killzone the shot in the arm it needs.

It gets a lot of hate for some reason, but I enjoyed KZ2 more than any other shooter this generation. Loved the maps, the game modes, the way you could host and tinker with the settings.

Still play now from time to time.

Can't wait to hear the next-gen kill chirp.

I am glad that they went with a more customization when setting up your game. Like Killzone 2.

                    Can't wait.

                      More multiplayer details:

Just like in the single player campaign, Killzone: Shadow Fall’s multiplayer gives you the freedom to play the game exactly how you want. Using the new customizable Warzone features demonstrated in the trailer, you can pick the number of players (4-24), rules, mission modes, classes, abilities and weapons you want to allow in a match, then save these choices as a preset to share with the rest of the Shadow Fall community.

With an ever-evolving selection of Warzone presets, you’ll have no trouble finding fresh and challenging online matches in Killzone: Shadow Fall. In addition, the community team will regularly highlight interesting new Warzone presets and introduce new options to customize and play with by means of expansion packs.

That’s not all, of course – we’ve worked hard to make sure Killzone: Shadow Fall will be a fun, competitive multiplayer experience that’s easy to get into, but difficult to master. There are now eight different rotating mission modes, four of which are new to Killzone: Shadow Fall. The game has three classes with unique abilities and 22 different weapons – all unlocked from the get-go, so you can determine for yourself how and in which order you want to specialize.

We’ve also redesigned our progression system to work with challenges rather than XP. There are over 1500 increasingly difficult challenges to complete in Killzone: Shadow Fall multiplayer, so you’ll have plenty of opportunity to prove your skills and collect rewards.
And the way DLC maps should be handled:

To increase longevity even further, we plan to continue support for the title well after launch – and yes, DLC multiplayer maps will be released free of charge to ensure everyone can play.
                      ...

                      MP Screens:

22 Weapons too. That is a ton for a Killzone game. And as diverse as the weapons have been with the other iterations I can only imagine what they have in store.

I will be picking this up at launch.

The free DLC confirmed that I will be picking this up. Even though I've never been in love with the KZ franchise, I'll support the hell out of whoever makes DLC free for their user-base.
