Take, for example, my first round pick in my 10 year (fantasy draft) chiseāa shortstop. By year 3, he was starting, but rated 78 (I was a speed-oriented team, weak up the middle). By year 5, he stole 50 bases a season to go along with 15 homers. Year 8: 90 overall and more balanced.
But it really depends on the skill of minor league coaches, and whether the pick/player has a fairly good potential (In that chise, I had about 20 5-star prospects). For them to get to a very high level, you will have to wait for several years; but the prospects can fill in at a weak position, if necessary.
