Blue Jays Get To Chavez, Sweep Athletics

TORONTO, ON-- The Toronto Blue Jays swept the Oakland Athletics behind a two runs sixth inning on Sunday afternoon.

Rookie right hander Marcus Stroman picked up the win for the Blue Jays, his third of the season, going six innings while allowing nine hits but only two runs.

Edwin Encarnacion homered for the Jays, who also got RBI knocks from Melky Cabrera, Jose Bautista and Maicer Izturis.

Jesse Chavez took his fourth loss of the season for the Athletics, going five and a third innings, surrendering nine hits and four runs.

Blue Jays catcher Dioner Navarro suffered a right shin contusion after being hit by a ground ball during warm ups and is listed as day-to-day. The Tampa Bay Rays roll into the Rogers Centre to face the Blue Jays for a three game series.
