FIFA release date is getting frustrating

This has probably been brought up before, but does anyone else find it somewhat frustrating that FIFA comes out so far after the EPL has started? I know its been that way for a long time, but now that EA has the official branding, you'd think it'd be on time. Kind of a buzz kill.

NHL, for as poorly executed as the game is, at least gets the release date right.

It gives me time to play madden, and comes out around the same time I get bored of madden.
But yes, I'd like to be playing the new fifa sooner.

This is totally an assumption, but I think the game is released when ALL the major football leagues have begun their new seasons. EPL and Bundesliga have started; however, I don't think La Liga has yet (August 21 I believe).

From a fan of the MLS, the game is released after the season ends basically. I think they do it so the most amount of competitions is going on at one time worldwide

In the end it's business unfortunately. First it's Madden, the NHL a week or two later, then FIFA a week or two after that. FIFA goes last because the transfer window doesn't close until September 1.

They do it to make sure all the transfer windows have shut (so at the very least September) and then once that's done they push a demo out and then the full game at the end of the month the transfer window shuts. There's a lot of authenticity they have to get out of the way in between having the game play the way they want it and then doing transfers, kits, boots etc. Whereas we can do transfers as and when they happen they have to get everything else out of the way first.

So while I agree that an earlier release would be nice it's not really that plausible.

Even though their BPL bias is apparent, that isn't the only league in the game. As some have mentioned MLS ends, Liga MX began a few weeks ago, Champions games have been played. Ligue 1, Belgian league have all started. La Liga doesn't kick off till the 21st (a week from now). It wouldn't make sense for them to release Madden & FIFA at the same time. I don't mind the release date, comes out in August and by October I'm done with my career mode. September gets me to November at least. Sometimes December.

The Sept. release date is likely a holdover from the the pre-DLC days, when they had to wait for the summer transfer market to close to make sure the rosters were up-to-date. With modern content delivery and no college football game on the schedule, early August makes much more sense now.

The MLS is a non-issue. I love it, but its one of the non-conforming leagues, so it doesnt stand a chance. The rest though, FIFA now has EPL branding from top to bottom. I agree the other leagues are important, I watch them also, but the amount of money these people make off FIFA and FUT, I'd expect a more serious effort during the transfer window.

First, imo, the game should be released for the first kick off of the EPL since it's branded for that league.

Second, they should really keep on rosters once a day for sure during the transfer window for the amount of money they make on this game. If the game comes out before your league has begun, i.e. La Liga, youre in luck, and can maybe even hammer out a EPL season or focus on FUT and get used to the game before your season has started if you wish.

Third, Ive felt that there should be an option, and not sure why there isnt, that you should be able to play a watered-down manager mode where by you are free to manage and change formations, etc, but for authenticity, you play with the actual roster and do not make transfers.

I dont think any of this is too much to ask. The only real problem is that the game has been released for so long on this cycle that it would shorten the cycle for one year, and theyd lose some development time. I'm sure theres a way around this.

Im not trying to stir anything negative up, but my friends and I all agree that watching the premier league go on, with no game to play is a bit absurd. Buzz kill.

I think EA's thinking is the exact opposite- since the main soccer leagues typically run long after the end of the NFL and college football seasons, they delay FIFA as the sport (and presumably people's interest) extends further. When they released a college football game it generally always came out a full month ahead of Madden even though the respective seasons only start a week apart (and technically, with pre-season games the NFL starts earlier than college)- my thinking is that was tied to the Super Bowl generally falling a month after the college championship game.

Always irritated me soccer games release dates. Football Manager is the worst. It always seems like Thanksgiving by the time FM is released.

FIFA & Madden need to switch release dates. With the ability to adjust rosters weekly, even daily, there's no need to hold out until the Summer window closes.

What else is frustrating is the lack of videos for FIFA 16. Where are all the User vs CPU vids??????????

I'm okay with it coming out after the transfer window closes. It gives them time to tweak things about the player ratings after a transfer. And it gives them time to keep tweaking other things about the game. You have to realize that it still isn't in final code right now. They are still working on things and making changes to stuff. It wont be in final code for like two weeks before it ships. And even then they still work on it for the day one patch.

I think having those updates while it is out would cause a whole other set of complaints. People saying things like, many now I have to wait three weeks to start my CM because the roster updates wont affect my CM if I start now. Or I have to start over because so and so was just transferred to my roster and I can get that for free if I start over.

I do think so late in to the month is ridiculous though. It should come out on the 11th.

The Premier league is by far the biggest in the world. It makes the most money and attracts the biggest audiences. English football is also much more attacking than it European counterparts. I'm not saying it's technically the best but it's by far the most entertaining league in the world. In the football world no one really cares about Mls, the Belgian league etc. the big two are premier league the. The Italians. Spanish are third and maybe the Germans are forth.
Our premier league has started already and I've wondered why the game does t come out in the the first week of August. I suspect it's because high summer is a bad time for the game industry. Empirically, the top games never come out until at least September. We don't even get games coming out in December anymore. September to Novemebr are the major months for sales.
EA know FIFA will sell well with a September release. It always has. Didn't it have an October release a few years ago?
Ea are a business and will release the game when it can sell the most. Authenticity is secondary.
