Yep...Which was surprising. His numbers fell off a bit this year. He must have won it on reputation. haha

Last year: 96 total tackles, 24 tackles for loss, 10 sacks, 3 interceptions, 1 td

This year: 82 tackles, 22 tackles for loss, 3 sacks, 3 interceptions

Yep...The first recruiting class was mostly duds; The only guys from that first class that are leaving are QB Curtis Byrd, RB Joey Roberts, and WR John Lacey. All the other players were pre-2nd patch duds that were either redshirted or have been cut (I allowed myself to cut guys from the first class since EA has basically admitted that the recruiting classes were broken before the patch).

This dynasty has moved at a much quicker pace than I anticipated. I just can't stay away from this game this year. It's the only game I play. I can see this thing going strong all the way to next April/May. I have another 3 to 4 years left in me.

Lacey definitely brought it in his final game. In hindsight, I wish I had used him and his big time speed more this season.

With the loss of Byrd and Lacey, I'm assuming you'll be running the ball more in 2015? Also, any idea on who will be providing the pass-rush with Beckwith leaving?

BTW, sucks to see USF get crushed in their BCS debut. Looking forward to more from Coach Geezy![/font]
We'll be fairly balanced once again next year. Expect to see a whole lot of Moore next year. Also my new QB Anthony High is no slouch. He took over for Byrd a season ago as the starter but lost his job due to injury. There should be improvement at QB. We also have some good WR recruits coming in which will be revealed soon.

As for the pass rush, look for OLB Mark Richards' sack numbers to improve. He had 10 as a freshman and only 3 this year because I didn't use him at defensive end quite as much because I thought he was more effective at coverage...That was a mistake and it won't happen moving forward.

It's sad to see Byrd leave but he will go down as one of the best at Tulane. I'm looking forward to seeing what you do in the offseason! Good luck man!
Thanks man...The pace of this dynasty has gone a lot faster than anticipated. I guess time flies when you're having fun.

I will definitely miss Curtis Byrd. He's won some big games for us in his time year. I'm looking forward to the Anthony High era though. At the end of the day, I think he'll be better than Byrd.

Truly a great dynasty you have here, just like back at MM. You are a legend. Keep it up buddy.
Thanks for the kind words Proof.

The story of this game was the turnovers. I hate to say it but Byrd really cost us with his INTs and fumble near the end zone. I wish he could have ended his stellar career on a better note.

Thanks...This year went much better than expected, that's for sure. We may still be a couple of years from being SEC contenders but nothing would surprise me at this point.

Agreed...I was thinking 8-4 would be a good goal. For us to get to 10 wins was definitely a shocker. We won a lot of close games this past year. The ball won't always bounce our way like that so we'll need to improve tremendously for next season.

Tulane Green Wave Graduating Class of 2014

QB Curtis Byrd (LEFT), RB Joey Roberts (MIDDLE), and WR John Lacey (RIGHT) were the headliners of Coach Geezy's first recruiting class at Tulane. The young men represent three of only seven players from that class to have exhausted their eligibility in only four seasons and each of the three have been instrumental in the successful turnaround of Tulane's football program.

FOUR-YEAR STARTING QB CURTIS BYRD DEPARTS TULANE AS SCHOOL'S ALL-TIME LEADING PASSER
One of Geezy's prize first recruits left his mark, surpassing former Tulane QB Patrick Ramsey in career yards (11,649) and touchdown passes (83) | Run-stuffing DT Hopkins, a transfer from Alabama in 2012, parlays dominate senior season into a shot at going high in the 2015 NFL draft | Byrd, RB Roberts, and WR Lacey the stars of Geezy's first recruiting class to depart | Team will have 23 roster slots to fill this off-season

Tulane | Team bags two from Crimson Tide
                  Mon, 12 Jan 2015 10:11:49 -0700
The Tulane Green Wave picked up two significant transfers this week, learning that Alabama RB Brett Curtis (80ovr, 84spd, 84btk) and CB Ethan Cantrell (81ovr, 90spd, 95mcv, 86zcv, 98press) will enroll at Tulane next fall. The two players are former blue chip recruits for the Crimson Tide and will be eligible to play in 2016.

Curtis, 5-11 209 pounds, will be a redshirt sophomore in 2016 and will have three years of remaining eligibility upon his return to action with Tulane. He was listed fourth on Alabama's depth chart and is expected to have a better chance of playing time at Tulane. The Orange Grove, Mississippi native was on the ESPNU 150 list last off-season and was rated as the nation's #10 high school product.

Cantrell is 6-0 213 pounds, currently a redshirt junior, and will have only one year of elibility remaining when he hits the field for Tulane in 2016. Cantrell is considered a shutdown corner and should transition smoothly into the Green Wave's defensive scheme, which uses a lot of man and press coverage.

Curtis and Cantrell join recently departed DT Mark Hopkins, who transferred from Alabama to Tulane in 2012, as the latest players the Green Wave has snagged from the Crimson Tide via transfer during head coach D. Geezy's tenure.

2016 is the year Tulane becomes national champions
Our defensive backfield is totally reformed. I made it an emphasis this off-season, like I have every year, and succeeded this time finally. I'm most excited about my new free safety though. He will allow me to move my Thorpe winning FS Will Washington to CB and I will pair him with my other 4-star CB Cedric Burnette.

Things are looking up for Tulane football. I agree...We're building up our war chest for the 2016 season. I am REALLY hoping to make a run at the National Title game that year.

I think Burnette is the beast of the two corners. He will be my #1 CB. We play a lot of man coverage so it will be interesting to see how he and Jefferson do. I am REALLY looking forward to next year though, when Ethan Cantrelle becomes eligible.

Good point about Bama...You're right. The better they do, the more they'll have to let go. It seems like the Alabama football team is becoming somewhat of a ""pipeline"" for Tulane.
