I never in a million years would have thought we would win four straight SEC titles. Hopefully we can finish this thing off and FINALLY get that perfect season I have been striving for.

I think Manning is as good as gone after this year. You never know though, he could pull a Peyton.

Thanks bro...I think a lot of the credit goes to the makers of this game. They really hit a homerun with NCAA '11. This is without a doubt the most fun I have ever had with a dynasty.

This is also my final dynasty, so that also plays a factor in how much effort I am putting into it.

I like our chances. Michigan has some serious speed on both sides of the ball but I feel confident that we can figure out how to get the W. I will not let what happened last season (title game loss to USC last year) happen again.

Thanks for checking in all...Sorry for the long delay (been extremely busy at work)! The wait between the conference championship game and the bowl game feels almost like real life...Nevertheless, I'll be playing the title game tomorrow night!

That 99 overall QB really looks scary on paper. This one could turn into a shootout if we're not careful. Their stable of backs look pretty solid too. Of note, their backup RB Donte Ford is a player I was THIS close to signing last year and he chose Michigan over us. It'll be fun having to defend them defensively as well as in the kicking game. Hopefully we get a good shot or two on him. Their right guard Roy Rutledge is another guy we just missed out on.

This should be a great game!

Tulane QB Jamie Manning completes a screen pass to RB Bernard Davis and the sophomore Louisiana native follows his blockers on the way to a career-long 78-yard touchdown reception which gave the Green Wave a commanding 10-0 lead early in the game.

TULANE CAPS OFF PERFECT SEASON WITH 30-20 VICTORY OVER MICHIGAN IN BCS CHAMPIONSHIP GAME

Green Wave's historic victory gives them their second national title in three seasons | Back-up RB Davis stars for Wave, slashes through Wolverines defense for a career-high 103 receiving yards and 2 touchdowns on his way to winning Player of the Game honors | QB Manning gets redemption after last season's national title game disappointment, throws for 348 yards and 2 touchdowns while breaking team's all-time career passing yardage record | Tulane finishes undefeated for the first time since their 12-0 1998 season

Glendale, AZ -- The Tulane Green Wave got off to a fast start but Michigan came fighting back to go blow for blow with the four-time SEC Champions. But in the end, the Green Wave were able to pull away to win its second national title in three years, ousting the #1 ranked Wolverines 30-20 Thursday Night in the BCS National Championship Game at University of Phoenix Stadium.

Tulane QB Jamie Manning finished the evening with 348 yards and 2 touchdown passes as his team avenged last year's disappointing 20-13 title game loss to USC in Pasadena. In that game, Manning injured his back on his team's first offensive play and was unable return, being forced to watch his team lose their first game of the year, with true freshman QB Antoine Atkinson at the helm. This year however, Manning was able to stay upright to help lead Tulane to 14-0, its best finish in school history.

"This was a moment I know Jamie had been waiting for since that unfortunate night a year ago," said Tulane head coach D. Geezy.

Michigan (12-1) turned the ball over on each of its first three possessions, though the latter two are hidden on the stat sheet as turnovers on downs. Wolverines QB J.R. McKeon's third down pass attempt on his team's first series was intercepted by Green Wave freshman star FS Troy Cowan, giving the Wave possession of the ball already deep in Michigan territory. Cowan finished with a team-high 9 tackles to go along with 1 sack and the 1 interception. The turnover led to a quick field goal by PK Alex White and a 3-0 lead for Tulane.

The Wolverines would try to make amends on their next possession and drove all the way to the Tulane 21-yard line, where they'd face a fourth and inches. On the play, McKeon handed the ball off to RB Mike Rogers and Tulane MLB David Reid stuffed him behind the line of scrimmage for a loss, turning the ball on downs to the Green Wave at the 22-yard line.

On the very next play, Manning's 78-yard touchdown pass to back-up RB Bernard Davis on a perfectly executed screen pass gave the Wave a commanding 10-0 lead.

The Wolverines would drive once again on their ensuing possession; The result would be the same however. This time, they'd get to the Green Wave 12-yard line before facing another fourth and inches situation. This time, it was back-up Wolverines RB Donte' Ford, a player heavily recruited by the Green Wave last year, who got stuffed behind the line of scrimmage by Cowan to turn the ball over again.

"Our defense played great when it mattered most and that's when the offense is in scoring position," said Tulane defensive coordinator/assistant head coach Charles Kelly.
"We gave up a ton of yardage tonight, but we buckled down and got some early stops early that in the end, was probably the difference in the game."

Michigan was able to make a game out of it in the second quarter, getting two field goals from PK Dwayne Morris to cut their deficit to 10-6. Following the second field goal, the fortunes of the Wolverines seemed to shift even more.

On the very next offensive play for Tulane following the 44-yard conversion by Morris, Manning would make his biggest and perhaps only mistake of the night. Sensing pressure, he unloaded a first down pass to the sideline to WR Chris Kane however Michigan All-American LB Patrick Samuel stepped in front of the pass and the Butkus Award winner returned the pick 18 yards for a touchdown which gave the Wolverines a 13-10 lead with 0:50 remaining in the half.

"It was the right read but I think the pass got out a little late and Samuel just made a great play," said Geezy.

Tulane would make up for the error by getting a 47-yard field goal by White on the final play of the first half, tying the game up at 13-13 at the break. The Green Wave would cease the momentum in the second half.
White would kick another field goal in the third quarter, this time from 37 yards away to give his team a 16-13 lead. The junior placekicker finished the night 3 of 4, missing a 53-yard attempt midway through the second quarter.

Following a Michigan punt, Tulane was in position to take over the game; And that they did. Manning's 51-yard bomb to WR Brandon McNeil was tipped up by Michigan SS Tim Clemons but the junior speedster would catch the pass off the deflection, giving the Wave a first down at the Wolverines' 6-yard line. McNeil finished with a game-high 130 receiving yards on 6 receptions.

One play following the amazing grab, Tulane senior RB Brett Curtis would rumble into the end zone, giving his team a 23-13 lead with 1:58 remaining in the third quarter. Curtis, who finished with 82 yards on 18 carries, eclipsed the 1,000 yard mark during the game, and finishes his final year with the Green Wave with 1,003 rushing yards.

The game would get put away early in the fourth quarter following yet another Tulane defensive stop which forced a Michigan punt. Manning's swing pass to Davis resulted in a 17-yard touchdown which made the score 30-13 with 6:40 to go in the game. Davis finished with 4 receptions for a career-high 103 receiving yards and 2 touchdowns on the night, winning Player of the Game honors.
"Bernie really added an element to our offense tonight that we haven't really seen since (former Tulane) RB Reggie Moore was here," said Geezy.

Michigan would get a late touchdown run by Rogers to make the score 30-20 with 2:27 to go. Tulane WR Bobby McCall would recover the ensuing onside kick however, giving the Green Wave the ball, and allowing them to run out the clock via a couple of first down runs by Curtis to ice the game.

Tulane finishes the year 14-0, their first undefeated season under Geezy and the second undefeated season in the school's history. The team came one win shy of accomplishing that feat last season and Geezy is now proud of his team getting over that hump after last year's disappointment.

"We start every year off nowadays with three main goals," said Geezy.

"We want to 1.) Win our conference, 2.) Compete for and win a national title, and 3.) Finish the year undefeated. Prior to tonight, we had accomplished all three of the goals over the course of the past several years. For us to do it this year all in one season, it is something special. This is the greatest accomplishment a college football team can achieve."

Notes: Tulane QB Jamie Manning broke several school records during Thursday Night's game. Manning broke his own single season school passing yards record he set last year, finishing the year with 4,168 yards to best his 3,833 from a year ago. He also surpassed former Wave QB Curtis Byrd (2011-2014) to become the all-time career passing yardage leader with 11,698 yards, besting Byrd's 11,649 career yards. Manning is already the school's all-time leading touchdown passer with 121, shattering Byrd's previous record of 83...WR Brandon McNeil also broke a school record, becoming Tulane's all-time career receiving yards leader with 3,766 yards, surpassing former Wave WR Marc Zeno (1984-1987), who finished his career with 3,725 yards.

                        Final Editor's Note:

Well gang, the time has come as this appears to be a perfect stopping point. I didn't quite make it to my goal of 10 seasons but quite honestly, I just don't have another season in me from a reporting standpoint. I will be continuing this dynasty, albiet offline, and will probably come back at some point down the road to write an epilogue-style recap of those seasons to officially wrap things up.

As I have said many times in the past, this has been the most fun I have ever had with a dynasty. Tulane has been the perfect team for me and NCAA '11 has been as close to a perfect college football simulation I have ever played. And with that said, in the end, this was the perfect way to wrap up my dynasty reporting career.

I'd like to say thanks to all of my readers that have followed this dynasty and give a special thanks to the many loyal readers that have followed my reports through the years (I'd rather not single out anyone because I fear leaving someone out, but you know who you are).

I'll still be on the boards reading the work of others, but with it seemingly becoming more and more of a chore for me to find time, it is finally time to put the bow on this part of my life and focus that energy on other things; Namely devoting the time I spend on this to spending even more time with my wife and kids. I should never say never, however at the very least I'll be taking a very long break from reporting.

Thanks again to everyone for reading Coach Geezy in the Big Easy: Our City, Our Team and I hope you've enjoyed the journey!

Saying Goodbye to a Legend | The Legacy of Deegeezy

                          A Final Farewell

cheese2121 | Guest Columnist from A Slice Off the Old Block

Dear readers for the first time, in a long time, I find myself at a loss for words with how to begin a piece. As many of you have already read and found out as I have, with the winning of his second national championship Deegeezy has finally brought to a close his legendary dynasty Coach Geezy in the Big Easy: Our City, Our Team. This will seemingly mark the end of Geezy’s dynasty reporting career and I thought it appropriate to take a moment to look back on what a great journey it has been.

I first met Deegeezy in September of 2009 when after having lurked around dynasty reporting boards for almost three years I was drawn out by his Bengals franchise which had me hooked from the moment I started reading. I remember logging on daily; even hourly at times if life was slow, to check and see what was the latest Bengals news. My first post ever on a sports gaming message board was a response I left on Deegeezy’s thread.

“I have been a lurker for about three years and I just want to say this is one of the best franchises I have ever read. It inspired me to start posting. I follow it daily. Really great job man!” – chesse2121 9/10/09 7:37 AM

I digress though, albeit for me to go off rambling about how I originally got into franchise reporting or discovered the boards to begin with. I apologize. It was thanks to Deegeezy that I had the inspiration to try my own hand at franchise reporting. He even told me how to make tables, the equivalent to learning how to ride a bike around here it seems. That’s what made Deegeezy the legend he is though, it wasn’t just the amazing reports that pulled readers into his word, it was the kindness and friendship he so readily gave to those “young guns” who were just getting started. He was always the first to allow someone to borrow his ideas or layouts or his famed “Franchise Rule Book” which I have seen in more franchises than I can count. I never once witnessed him reply negatively to a comment in his thread or to a request for help; that is the trait about him that I will forever admire the most.

Even though I only had the pleasure of reading two of his amazing reports, they remain to this day the most complete, all encompassing dynasty stories I have read. I am not ashamed to admit that when I first started reporting I would reference them frequently to make sure I wasn’t leaving out important details or for ideas. I still to this day use a front page layout that is based on his. His dynasties have sucked in more people than just me. I remember when he first started his Tulane report he won the best recruiter award on DSS that month because of how many people joined to follow his report. I have never seen that kind of impact by any franchise report on any of the many sites I have traversed. And I need not mention how many times he has won a franchise of the week, month, or year award. His accomplishments and accolades speak for themselves and need no champion in me, but I will remain in awe of the work he has accomplished and the football worlds he has created.

For the second time in writing this article, I once again find myself at a loss for words. There is no real way to end this that will do Deegeezy the justice he deserves for all that he has brought to the franchise reporting community. While this may be considered silly or perhaps even over the top for just the end of a single reporter, as has already been mentioned his influence on the community I believe merits at least this. To my friend DGZ, I will reiterate something I said when you first made your announcement that this report might be your last. It has been nothing but a pleasure following your reports and they have inspired mine in many ways. I hope that you will stick around the board and continue to be a presence in the ‘chising community even if not through reports of your own. The selfish side of me continues to hope that you will come back with a new report but there are much more important things in life that need attention and time, family namely which in my opinion always comes first. I feel as if I have just given some speech in a movie just before the heroes run into the fire, which I suppose is appropriate if I end this with something along the lines of....DGZ it's been an honor, hopefully we will see you on the other side, if not ...nothing but the best.

Great work DGZ, I've always loved your chises, but you've gotta keep your priorities straight, and if that means no more chises from you, so be it. Hopefully someone can look at what you have done and be inspired to make a chise/'nasty and make the chising community here grow evermore.

                            All the best.
