Back to reality with those last couple games, such is the case for a new program though.

Yeah. Wins were a lot of fun but I expect a 3-9 or 2-10 finish. We have a good shot at beating North Texas, but I doubt we'll beat Texas State.

      Preciate you checking in bro.

Swarm nab quartet of recruits after visits

        By Mike Calhoun
        Football beat reporter

Westlake, OH -- Some good did come out of the Swarm's blowout loss to Western Kentucky: 4 recruits in attendance that day decided to commit to WSU.

        3 star corner Andrew Neal (5'9, 160, 4.48 40 time, #114 CB), 3 star safety James Robinson (6'0, 199, 4.62 40, #52 SS), 3 star corner Kenny Taylor (5'10, 160, 4.54 40 time, #74 CB), and 2 star JUCO(So.) MLB Louis Lloyd. (6'1, 234, 4.56 40 time, #115 MLB)

Lloyd will likely start from day 1 for the Swarm, who graduate starting MLB Brady Church this year.

          Week 12, 2013

Swarm blown out by North Texas, 38-17

Swarm defense couldn't stop NT QB Quinn Shanbour, as he puts up over 300 all-purpose yards -- Run game struggles again, just 33 yards on 23 carries

Denton, TX -- Westlake State football continued to struggle yesterday in Denton, losing 38-17 to the Mean Green. The game started off fairly well for the Swarm, with Pat Godfrey (4 TAK, 1 TFL, INT, DEF)
picking off the first pass Mean Green QB Quinn Shanbour (21/41, 264 yards, 2 TD, 1 INT) threw. But the Swarm could't capitalize, with their drive stalling, then ending with K Sam Pickens missing a 30 yarder.

WSU went down 21-3 in the first half, and the game was essentially over from there. The team as a whole looked demoralized, tired, and lacked the heart we've seen earlier in the year.

It was more of the same in the second half. The Swarm managed a couple scores, courtesy of a Broderick Booth (23/55, 286 yards, 1 TD, 2 INT) TD pass to Kody Starks (8 REC, 128 yards, 1 TD) in what was a career game for the senior wideout. The other score came on a 4 yard TD run, a jet sweep from Starks for his first career rushing score.

The Swarm get 2 weeks off, then return to Akron to play Texas State (8-4,
6-1 Sun Belt, for Senior Day.

Sidenote: Forgot to a pic post game, as I don't save highlights I couldn't accompany this with a picture. Also these articles have been short lately cause the games have just been boring, nothing to really write about when it's just a straight blowout, or as you'll see in the Texas State game, not much happens.

            Week 15, 2013

Swarm lose 10-6 to Texas State on Senior Day

DE Preston Howe shows out in return from back injury, final college game,
with 11 TAK, 3 TFL, and a sack -- Tyler Siudzinszi runs through Swarm defense, 121 yards on 23 carries

Akron, OH -- The inaugural season of Westlake State football wrapped up yesterday, with the Swarm falling to 2-10 with a 10-6 loss at the hand of the Texas State Bobcats.

Westlake State started an all senior lineup. (Except at corner, where they have no seniors) Among the 22 men starting were DE Preston Howe, who hadn't played since week 2 due to a back injury, but managed a stellar performance with 11 tackles, including 3 for a loss, and a sack in his last college game, and HB OJ McNair, who was also returning from a back injury. McNair, however, was not as lucky as Howe, and aggravated his injury in the first quarter, sidelining him.

This game was one of the less exciting I've ever seen. It finished 10-6, but was no great defensive battle. The offenses for both sides looked sloppy, and honestly looked like they'd prefer to be somewhere else. The game saw 14 punts, and both teams played a very slow ballgame.

At the end of the day, it came down to Texas State tailback Tyler Siudzinski, who ran for the only touchdown of the day, a 12 yards carry, and ended up totaling 121 yards on 23 carries, including a late first down that put the game away.

For Westlake State's 29 seniors, this game was likely the last time they'll ever play competitive football.

"I just wanna thank all these guys, man. To come in here, some of them aren't even on full scolarship, and to give this team their all, just means the world to me and I'm proud of each and every single one of them.", said coach Banks postgame.

The Swarm's first season concludes with 2 disappointing losses. It'll be up to Banks and the rest of his coaching staff to guide this team to a better finish next season.

                    Swarm receive 4 transfers

                    By Mike Calhoun
                    Football beat reporter

Westlake, OH -- Some good news for the struggling Westlake State football program today, as they've received requests to transfer from 4 players, headlined by former Ohio State DT Dre'Mont Jones.

The quartet consists of Jones (6'3, 280, 80 ovr), Maryland RE Dion Goldbourne (6'4, 200, 65 ovr), Toledo tailback Shakif Seymour (6'0, 205, 67 ovr), and UMass RE Sharif Saleem (6'5, 251, 62 ovr).

All 4 players are freshmen, with Jones being the only one who's used up his redshirt year. All 4 should contribute in 2015, with Jones likely to be the star of this defense.

We really just got an Ohio State DT. Dude is gonna be a stud by the time he plays. Probably be my first drafted player for this team. Huge to get a guy like that, seeing as we were awful at stopping the run.

I've done my share of off the record cupcake/build em up dynasties in years past and those transfers are going to be absolutely huge for you. Too bad you couldn't land a potential impact QB but you did a running back so that's good.. and any help is better than no help!

Appreciate you checking in bro. Started on your dynasty yesterday actually. Great read, and I love your presentation.

The DT is massive for us man. Dudes already an 80 overall. He'll be 85 minimum by the time he plays. Does suck that we couldn't get a QB, as you'll see when I break down the roster next year, our situation there is awful. We might do worse next season, honestly. Praying that we luck into some guys from Ohio next year. With these recruiting rules it's gonna be a long time before Westlake State is landing top prospects.

                              National Signing Day, 2013

SWARM LAND #72 CLASS IN NATION

The 24 man class is headlined by 3 star guard Charles Payne, 2 star JUCO wideout Ronald Hollis, and 3 star wideout Ben Reid -- 12 3 star commits, 8 2 star commits for the Swarm's first ever recruiting class

Westlake, OH -- National Signing Day is here, and with it, the first ever Swarm recruiting class has been finalized. The Swarm managed to sign 24 recruits, and the 12 2 star and 8 3 star recruits were enough to give the Swarm the 72nd best recruiting class in the nation.

3 star guard Charles Payne (6'1, 313, 395 bench, 71 ovr), 2 star JUCO WR Ronald Hollis (6'7, 224, 4.3 40, 67 ovr), and 3 star WR Ben Reid (6'2, 205, 4.5 40, 69 ovr), are among the recruits who will likely get the most playing time this upcoming season.

Hollis, a late find by Coach Banks, is a former 4 star recruit, who went to JUCO in Florida after being dismissed from FSU football due to an assault charge back in 2011. He's a junior now, and will look to make the most of this second chance. "I'm so excited about Hollis. He's a legit 6'7, and with that kind of speed, he's uncoverable. We liked his tape, he's got talent, and it's huge for a kid like that to come here to Westlake.", said Banks earlier today, when asked about which recruit he's most looking forward to utilizing.

Sidenote: Theres about 8 guys on here that I don't ever remember recruiting or adding to the board. I turned off all CPU recruiting assistance way back too. There's 3 wideouts and 2 QB's that I never recruited. There's also 4 guys who are listed on the recruiting board as having commited somewhere else, but then I go into search prospects and they're listed as my commits. None of them are studs tho, just 3 star and 1 star recruits. I'll do a full list either later tonight or Monday, I'm about to go out.

I hate that the CPU adds random commits on Signing Day. I always cut them. It's like the the dev's wanted you to fill your 25 scholarships every single year and force you to cut the remainder. Not really that big of a hassle just a little annoying
