    A Legend Reborn II-College Hoops 2k8

For those who are new to the dynasty forums, I am coming back. After being away for the past 2 years, I am ready to make my return. I started posting my coaching career legacy on the 2k forums back when 2k8 first came out and after the forums died there, I brought my thread to O.S. where I continued posting several college hoops threads as well as college football, MLB the Show and even tried running one with the NBA on 2k15.

Desperate to fill my need to play a sports game and never finding one that grabbed a piece of my heart like this game did, I decided it was time to dust of the old 360 and fire up some College Hoops. However I knew it just wouldn't/couldn't be the same unless I shared my experience with all of you.

So well I am not a photoshop wizard or have the skills or desire to capture video, my hope is that I will give you a good enough story and enough stats and information to help each and everyone of you to follow along and share in this alternate universe where dreams are made.

      BOISE STATE FIRES GREG GRAHAM

Just 2 years removed from guiding the Boise State Broncos basketball team to their 1st NCAA berth since 1994, Coach Greg Graham has been fired by the A.D. Gene Bleymaier. "I appreciate what Coach Graham tried to accomplish here at Boise State but back to back seasons of less then 10 wins after making the NCAA tournament is not a standard we can live with"

With a football program making noise on the national stage and turning into a power program, school officials, players and fans were wanting the same for the basketball program.

Knowing a program just doesn't get built overnight, rumors were A.D. Bleymaier reached out to Gonzaga Assistant Leon Rice, and after several interviews, Rice decided he was happy where he was waiting for a chance to return to his Alma Mater (Washington State).

With Rice off the table, the Broncos turned to their 2nd option, which was fitting cause his name was "Deuce" Ryan..

Nicknamed the "Deuce" by family and friends being #2 is just a part of life for Ryan.

Ryan grew up in Southern Idaho just 40 mins north of Boise playing basketball for 3A powerhouse Fruitland High. Not having the skill sets or height to play at the college level, Ryan instead turned his attentions and passion for sports to a future career in coaching. He spent the next 8 years on the bench (a place he sat often in high school) and in the stands waiting for a chance to one day trade in "The Deuce" for the title of "Coach Ryan".

Now with just 2 years of Head Coaching experience at Morehead Sate, Ryan was headed home to build Boise State into a Mid-Major powerhouse.

MOREHEAD STATE ANNOUNCES COACH RYAN IS LEAVING FOR BOISE STATE!!

When Morehead State announced they were hiring a 25 yr old Head Coach with very limited coaching experience, people thought they were crazy.

However Coach Ryan proved to the basketball world he was for real, as he defeated the Kentucky Wildcats in his first game (57-46). He followed it up with a win over Western Kentucky (76-73) to move to 2-0 as his young team led by star center Kenneth Faried headed to Hawaii to face #5 Duke in the opening round of the Hawaiiian Classic.

After a opening round loss (85-58) the Eagles dropped a heartbreaker to Arizona State (57-44) before rebounding with a win over Alabama A&M (83-76)

Another instate loss to Top-25 Louisville (99-88) saw MSU 3-3 in Coach Ryan's first 6 games.

A 4-0 start in the Conference play saw the Eagles soaring high as they headed west for Christmas to play in the Golden Bear Classic

A (91-87) over the host team Cal Bears and a win over North Dakota State (62-59) gave Coach Ryan something every young coach wants. A trophy for the school trophy case and a 9-3 record.

4 more wins saw Coach Ryan's record climb to 13-3 before the wheels fell off as the Eagles dropped 4 of their next 5 games to move to 14-7 with 7 games left in the season.

Could Coach Ryan get the Eagles to 20 wins in his first year? Would MSU win the Ohio Valley and secure a bid to the NCAA tournament.

        The answer, Yes/Yes/No.

Behind a 15.2 PPG, 8.4 RPG and 2.1 BPG season from their star Kenneth Faried, the Eagles would instead win 20 games and edge out Austin Peay for the OVC title. However loss to Eastern Kentucky (86-85) in the 1st round of the OVC Conference Tournament would end the Eagles dreams of dancing.

With 20 wins however MSU's season wasn't over as they secured a invite to the NIT and a opening game vs the Big West Champ UC Irvine (19-11)

Down 15 at the half the Eagles battled back in the 2nd half to beat the Anteaters (74-65) setting up a 2nd round matchup with Saint Louis Bilikens (20-11)

A heart breaking (80-65) loss would end Year 1, but the on the court success of Coach Ryan and the Eagles would lead to a successful recruiting season, as Coach Ryan adds 2 big's to pair with Faried. 6'11 (3* )Serge Dahi from the Ivory Coast and 3* (#286 Overall/#45) 6'8
SF Jazz Valentine from Tacoma WA.

        Year 2 Recap

Year 2 was a roller coaster of a season as the Eagles dropped 4 of their first 5 games including rematches with Kentucky and Western Kentucky but Coach Ryan would get things turned around as MSU wins 14 out of their next 17 finishing the regular season 16-14 Overall and 11-9 in the OVC.

In the OVC tournament, the Eagles would open up with a win over Murray State (74-59), then defeated Austin Peay (79-62) before knocking off regular season champ Tennessee State (76-65) to secure the MSU their 1st NCAA bid since 1984.

Going into the tournament as a #14 seed playing #3 Illinois (24-8), nobody gave Coach Ryan and his young squad much chance and they were right.

Despite a double double by Faried (14/10) the Eagles couldn't contain Illinois SG Trent Meacham who goes off for 30 points including 7/10 from 3pt as the the Eagles fall (87-56)

So with that Morehead State says goodbye to their young coach.........

My new job currently has me working M-Thursday working 4-10's, so I have the next 3 days off. I am excited to get things started with Boise State. It's always fun playing with your favorite team in the game and it is my hope to stay here for as long as I can and build the Broncos into a Gonzaga type Mid-Major power, but as you all know the draw of coaching and playing in the WAC doesn't quite have the same draw as the ACC/Big East/SEC or Pac-10. Heck it's not even A-10 quality...

Agreed. I have NBA2k17 and tried doing a expansion draft and expanded the league to 36 teams running the Soncis, but it's just not the same.

                        2009-2010 PREVIEW

Who will be crowned your 2010 National Champs? Will it be Tennessee (91) repeating? With 4 returning Senior starters, the Vols are a favorite as they start the year #3 in the Top-25 Preseason Poll.

Or will it be Coach K and the Duke (93). The Blue Devils are no stranger to Final 4's (15), NCAA Championships (3), and NCAA appearances at the Big Dance (33). They start the year #1.

How about USC (89). The Trojans are not known as a basketball powerhouse like their crosstown rivals UCLA. But this could be the Trojans year with a roster loaded with upperclassman (4 SR's and 5 JR's), as they start the year #3 in the poll.

#4 Louisville (90) can't be counted out. Coach Pitino with 500+ career wins is one the best in the nation and with a roster loaded with 4 returning Senior starters they will be looking for their 9th Final 4 appearance and 3rd National Championship.

                        The Florida Gators (88)
round out the Top-5 and like the other early favorites are no strangers to Final 4's (4) or National Titles (2). With 3 Juniors and a Soph in the starting lineup, the Gators could get 2 shots at this before Coach D has to rebuild the roster

Well the Top-5 are great programs, the next 5 are no strangers to Final 4's. With the Syracuse Orange (86) coming in at #6. Coach Boeheim enters the year with 788 career wins. Some wonder how much longer he will coach. #7 Texas (87), #8 Michigan State (89), Ohio State (85) and UConn (88) round out the Top-10.

Arizona (88) under new leadership with the retirement of Coach Lute Olsen starts the year #11 and will look to battle it out for a Pac-10 title and make their 28th trip to the Big Dance.

The Pac-10 looks to be tough this year with 3 more teams starting the year in the Top-25 with Cal(84) at #15, Oregon(89) at #19, and Stanford(86) at #24

The Memphis Tigers(87) are the only team from a non-power conference to make the Top-25 Preseason Poll as they start #14 but they are no strangers to making Final 4 appearances (2) and it looks like they have a future start in 5* AA SG Drew Bell (79) who was the #7 Overall Recruit this past class as well as 6'7 SF JJ Cobb who was Mr BB Louisiana.

The rest of the Poll looks like this
                        #12 Kentucky (85)
                        #13 Georgetown (89)
                        #16 Wisconsin (88)
                        #17 Mississippi State (85)
                        #18 Maryland (89)
                        #20 Cincinnati (85)
                        #21 NC State (84)
                        #22 UNC (85)
                        #23 Notre Dame (86)
                        #25 Illinois (83)

                          2009-2010 WAC PREVIEW

Found in 1962, the "WAC" also know as the Western Athletic Conference has 9 current members represented by 7 different states. Boise State,Nevada,Utah State, Hawaii, Louisiana State, Fresno State and San Jose State.

Since it's existence, only 2 teams from the conference have ever been to a Final 4, but Boise State's "Deuce" Ryan is looking to make some new history..

Going into the 2009-2010 season it looks to be 5 horse race by most sports writers eyes.

Utah State (82 Overall) appears to be a favorite to bring home a conference title and go dancing. The Aggies starting lineup is loaded with 3 very talented Sophomores inclduing SF H. Dupree (85 OVR) the former 5* AA Utah Mr BB who was the #9 Recruit in the nation. Dupree averaged 10.1 PPG, 6.5 RPG 1.1 APG, 1.5 SPG, 1.2 BPG last season well shooting 35% from 3pt.

Joining him in the starting lineup is former 4* and Idaho Mr BB PG Vincent Bain (75 OVR) the #31 Overall recruit 1 year ago, as well as 6'8 PF C. Prillman (75 OVR).

Dupre is considered to be the Best Overall and Best Pro prospect with 1st Round Buzz already, well Bain is considered to be the Best Playmaker in the WAC.

                          Nevada (80 Overall)
will look to repeat as Conference Champs from last season. The Wolfpack have 6 Seniors inlcuding star Center Sid Richardson (74 Overall) who was last years WAC POY averaging 15.4 PPG. But their talent doesn't end there, as they too added a former 5* AA Mr BB to the starting lineup. 6'6 Soph M.C. Fuller (80) was the #12 Overall Recruit in the nation 1 year ago and dominated his Freshman season putting up 9.4 PPG, 7.2 RPG, 1.0 APG, 1.4 SPG, 1.1 BPG earning the title as the "Best Defender in the Conference"

Louisiana State (79 Overall) returns 3 Senior starters from a team that went dancing last year as the Bulldogs won the Conference tournament defeating New Mexico State.

New Mexico State (78 Overall) The Aggies have just missed out being invited to the Dance the past 2 seasons, making it to the Conference Tittle in back to back years. However graduation hit the Aggies hard and they are now led by SO Benjamin Downey (77) a former 4* from El Paso Texas. (9.4 PPG 6.8 RPG last season)

Boise State (76 Overall) is considered the darkhorse of the final 5. Their advantage is a new coach in "Deuce" Ryan who is 40-25 in his first 2 years including leading Morehead State to a NCAA bid last season. Joining Cocah Ryan in Boise this season will be 6'10 Khalif Stafford. Stafford was a 4* Recruit out of Long Beach California and was rated #80 Overall and the #5 Bigman in the nation. Recruited by most of the Pac-10 instate schools early, scholarships never arrived, and with 1 scholarship available when accepting the job at Boise State, Coach Young swooped in and secured his verbal in the last week of the recruiting season.

Coach Ryan "We are super excited to have Khalif coming to Boise. Having coached the OVC Freshman of the year the past 2 seasons, Khalif is considered a early favorite to win the WAC FOY as he is considered the "Best Frosh of the Conference"".

Fresno State (76 Overall) won the Conference Title and beat NMSU in the Conference Championship game to go dancing in 2008. Can they surprise everyone and do it again.

                          Idaho (76 Overall)
The Vandals havn't been to a NCAA tournament since 1990 and with 6 Freshman on the roster including 2 in the starting lineup, it's doubtful they will end the streak anytime now.

                          San Jose State (76 Overall)
With only 3 NCAA appearances in school history with the last in 1996, the Spartans like the Vandals don't appear to changing their luck anytime soon. With a Coach on the hotseat (33-85 Overall record) we could be seeing some changes coming their way soon. They will likely be 6'10 FR Taquian Hite (76 Overall) who expects to battle Stafford for FOY honors.

Hawaii (74 Overall) will most likely finish last yet again this year. With a very young team 6 Soph's and only 2 Seniors, it appears the Warriors need a leader to step up in a big way.

                            BOISE STATE TEAM PREVIEW

Coach Ryan takes over a squad coming off a very disappointing season, however a lack of W's on the court wasn't just the fault of Coach Graham, as Boise State had several players not playing up to their potential and because of that they are no longer with the program. Just 10 players will suit up for the Blue and Orange this season and only 9 of them are on scholarship as Coach Ryan announces 6'5 Mathew Koutyate a 2*SG out of Mesa Arizona has made the team.

However due to the timing of the roster cuts and despite the fact BSU has just 2 RS Seniors on the squad, Coach Ryan will only go into the recruiting season with 3 scholarships to offer.

Here is a look at the 10 man roster/rotation for the Broncos this season.

                            Starting 5

Coach Ryan on this year squad "Honestly I am scared by our lack of depth in the backcourt but at the same time excited about the quality of our depth in the post. Fischer and Moreno will battle it out for the PF spot all year and I expect Fischer to get minutes close to that of the starters. Hannan and Kouyate are going to have to give us some minutes to be able to rest Andrews at the point. Any kind of injury to Andrews at all and we are going to be in a world of hurt. I really think Stafford not only has a great chance at WAC FOY but could potentially put up the kind of numbers to challenge for the National FOY award. With Wilkins the only legit 3pt threat we have, we will need our lost post offense to carry the load and not fall behind by to much to early, cause we are not going to be able to shoot our way back"

                              BOISE STATE 2009-2010 SCHEDULE

Coach Ryan and the Broncos will play 27 games during the regulars season including a non-conference tournament heading back to the Golden Bear Classic at Haas Pavilion with a opening round matchup vs Washington (Lehigh and IUPUI are on the other side of the bracket)

The Broncos will open the season on the road as they travel north to take Gonzaga inside the Kennel.

Coach Ryan "We are excited to get the opportunity to face Coach Few and Leon Rice. They have build the Zags into the type of program we hope BSU to be someday. A Mid-Major who makes noise in the NCAA tournament and eventually starts to attract some big time talent to Boise"

Boise State will then return home for 4 game home stand with games vs UC Riverside, UC Irvine, Portland State and Morehead State

Coach Ryan "I am excited to get the opportunity to see my former team. It's always tough to face guys who coached and recruited but they understood this was a opportunity I couldn't pass up and I am sure they will bring their best against us"

The Broncos will then hit the road for a 4 game road trip that includes stops at San Francisco, #11 Arizona, Arizona State and San Diego State before finishing up the non-conference season at the GBC.

Coach Ryan "We wanted some road games in areas we plan on recruiting heavily.. Arizona is a state we feel like we need to go and playing against Pac-10 schools is a must for us. Next season we will most likely replace the 2 Arizona schools with Oregon and OSU, then Washington/WSU the next year. Playing against Mountain West and WCC schools are also a big deal for us as we look to establish recruiting roots in the Pacific Northwest. You probably won't see to many road trips out East for a couple of years but we might try and work out some home/away deals with teams just to build some rep on the national scene.

BSU will open WAC play at home on New Years Eve vs Fresno State.
