Game Preview, Northern Illinois - 2016

Dillon set to start against Northern Illinois

-- Junior Defensive Tackle Thomas Dillon is set to return from his suspension for an altercation off campus just two weeks ago. After missing both the win against Buffalo and the loss to EMU, Dillon's presence was missed in the middle on defense. However, the coaching staff was happy with how the guys stepped up.

"Landon stepped up immensely. We needed him, along with Cordell (Coston) and Damon (Williams) to give us everything they have and they did," said Head Coach Tim Keyser.

Keyser also added that Dillon is an example of how no matter crucial they are for the on-field success, they have to conduct themselves better off of it. "We're not some established program who have a rich history of championships. What the hell have any of our guys done to earn the right to act like that? Nothing. Can't have it," he said.

Dutchmen pick up two commits despite loss

-- A high school senior and junior college sophomore gave their commitment to take classes and play some football at Penn A&T next year. Fullback Jared Kegarise, the JuCo sophomore from Silver-Hill, Maryland, has spent his last two seasons at Lackawanna CC in Scranton, PA. He stands at 6 feet and weighs 218 pounds. He's a solid blocker with some speed. He noted on Twitter that he will be enrolling in January.

Also giving their commitment was defensive lineman Keelyn Thompson from Green Haven, Maryland. At 6'7 265lbs, his size is everything and anything you look for at this level. However, a shoulder injury his junior year scared off a lot of the major programs as it seemed to hinder his ability to shed blocks. He was still listed as a three star prospect on ESPN, the first three star player for this incoming class.

        S4, G7 W 56-34 NIU

        ---------------------
Dutchmen finally click, dismantle NIU 56-34
Summary: Penn A&T came out of the gate strong and never looked back.
They scored on all but three drives and didn't turn the ball over.
RB Marcus Williams put the offense on his back with a career-high 166 yards rushing, while on
the defensive side, everyone got their fill. The fourth quarter touchdowns for
NIU were with Penn A&T's backups on the field and the
defense played possibly the best they have ever played under Tim Keyser.

        1. The defense played as good as they ever have. The day started with Markell King's sack and the Dutchmen never looked back.
        2. RB Marcus Williams had a career evening, topped off with his 27yd touchdown reception.
        3. Fellonte Misher broke the record for longest interception return on this 98-yard pick six
        4. NIU lost their starting running back Argeros Turner in the first quarter, which led to Rashad Handy getting the bulk of the carries.
        5. Return man Jewel Tillman made an electric 97-yard return for a touchdown, the first of his career

Marcus Williams named MAC Offensive Player of the Week
Penn A&T Running back Marcus Williams had the best game of his young tenure with the Fightin Dutchmen, rushing for 166 yards on 20 carries. He scored two rushing touchdowns and also scored on a 27-yard catch-and-run.
            ---------------------------

            The future is bright
Five high school seniors gave their commitment to Penn A&T after the 56-34 victory over Northern Illinois. Three hail from Pennsylvania, one from Maryland, and another from West Virginia.

The Dutchmen continue to bolster their offensive line for the future, adding Guard Gabe Ciesielski (Pittsburgh, PA/Pittsburgh CC) and Center Ben Legenski (Williamsport, PA/Williamsport HS). Ciesielski stands 6'1 277lbs and is rated a three star prospect by all major recruiting sites. He also had offers from Temple, Syracuse, and Buffalo. Legenski is listed at 6'0 315lbs on ESPN.com and is also a three star prospect. That puts Penn A&T at four offensive lineman commits so far for 2017.

The Dutchmen "D" adds three on their side. Starting up front, Defensive Tackle Quante Cole (Coal Fork, WV/Marsh Fork HS) is a bit undersized at 6'2 258lbs and is a two star recruit. He's listed with another offer from Toledo but it seems that Penn A&T was the fit all along.

Also pledging to be a Dutchman is Linebacker Darby Louis-Cook (Pottsville, PA/Pottsville Area) and Safety Tino Likely (North Laurel, MD/St. Vincent Pallotti). Louis-Cook has a great frame at 6'4 218lbs and is another three star prospect for Penn A&T, while Likely is 6'2 187lbs and is a two star player.

Louis-Cook and Cole have stated in their commitment announcements that they are planning to enroll early in January.

Summary: The first half of this game was one of the best football games played this season in the MAC.
Then in the second half, it just seemed like Ohio wanted it more.
The Penn A&T ground game was strong yet again; however,
Ritchy Teague had two costly interceptions early in drives, giving Ohio
great field position which led to two scores.

Re: Pennsylvania A&T (NCAA 14 Teambuilder Dynasty)

Just want to add a shameless plug that I have started a MVP NCAA Baseball 06 with Penn A&T as well. It's starting in the 2013 season. It's going to be no where near as in-depth as this report is but I just love that game so much and thought it would be fun to do a dual sport dynasty with a created school.

This will in no way affect this dynasty as I'm having a blast playing both!

Penn A&T hit with scandal; Warren Suspended by NCAA

Warren catching a touchdown against WVU in 2016

November 1, 2016 -- LANCASTER, Pa. By: Mark Schlabach
Pennsylvania A&T freshman Wide Receiver Tyler Warren has been suspended for the remainder of the season by the NCAA for having received payment to attend the University.

Word had spread around the athletic department about two weeks ago that the NCAA was sending investigators to campus but few if any knew why. Sources say that Head Coach Tim Keyser was sent a letter in the mail about one of his player's receiving impermissible benefits as part of his attendance at Penn A&T. That player was Bel Air North, Maryland native Tyler Warren.

Shocking news for any athletic department but especially for one just in their formative years. As an institution, Penn A&T just opened its doors for class in 2011 and began playing football games in 2013. There is no indication as to who gave Warren any specific amount of money.

This season, Warren has played in all 8 games catching just three passes for 56 yards but has scored two touchdowns, including one in their game this past weekend against Ohio. He was a standout at Bel Air High School, graduating in 2015. ESPN Recruiting rated him as a three star wide receiver (66ovr) and was seen as one of the better player's that Penn A&T had recruited since the program's inception.

As a program, Penn A&T has dealt with their fair share of discipline problems since their inception, having suspended three players for violating team rules, including a DUI and off-campus altercations.

Attempts to receive comment from the football office and athletic department were unwarranted. We will continue to look into this news and if any other players were involved. However, for now we know that Penn A&T is one wide receiver short for the rest of 2016.

                      Preview | Ball State, Week 11, 2016

                      Keyser reacts to Warren situation
"I've been told not to talk about this situation. But I'm a grown man and can make my own decisions. We have a player who was deemed ineligible by the NCAA because someone gave him some money to come here. I have absolutely no idea where this came from. He's a good kid with a strong family. I am absolutely blindsided because quite frankly, I'm not sure who in the hell cares enough about our young program to do something like this."
                      ......
"With all that, we are prepared to go on. We have a big home game with Ball State this week. We're focusing on what we can control. We look forward to fighting for our fans!"

Dutchmen pick up three more recruits
Before the Tyler Warren suspension was announced, three high school seniors gave their pledge to play for Penn A&T in 2017. It is unclear how the news will effect their decisions in the future.

The big name of the three is Quarterback Aaron Navarro from Albert Gallatin HS in Uniontown, PA. He stands at 6'4 219lbs and is rated as a 3 Star by ESPN and 247 Sports. He announced his commitment on Twitter. "I don't want some ordinary college experience. I want to be a part of something that people remember forever. I'll be attending #PennAT to continue my academic and athletic career!" He chose Penn A&T over the University of Maryland.

Defensive Back Kenny Keihn, pronounced "Cane," out of Allegany HS in Cumberland, MD will be joining the Dutchmen next year. He is listed at 6'1, 182lbs and draws a 2 star rating, being ranked the #155 cornerback. Keihn will join a crowded defensive backfield in 2017 and is likely to redshirt.

Rhett Curran is a punter from Matoaca HS in Chester, VA. At 6'3 239lbs, he has NFL type size but has a lot of work to do to prepare for the college game. He is ranked the #27 punter in the country. Curran was named All-State as a sophomore in 2014. He has served both punting and kicking duties for Matoaca.

Dutchmen start sluggish, return to form, win 42-28

Summary: Penn A&T's offense looked like garbage for most of the first half. Quarterback Ritchy Teague tossed up two easy interception for the defense. The Dutchmen defense seemed to be ready to play, but gave up a few stretch plays that carved them up and allowed the Cardinals to take a 7-0 lead after 1. After extending their lead to 14-0 with two minutes to go, Penn A&T got a jolt on offense from Teague and RB Marcus Williams with big run plays, eventually finding the endzone. Just before halftime, Teague would then lob one up for Clifton Moss who beat his defender for the jump ball to score and trail by only three into the break.

To start the second half, Penn A&T's defense had to go back to work. They bent but didn't break, holding Ball St to a 30-yard field goal. Penn A&T would take advantage of that momentum into their next drive, lulling the Cardinal D to sleep before Teague found Floyd Wilson who had burned his defender. Wilson would score and give Penn A&T the 21-20. The hosts would score three more times over the remainder of the game, downing Ball State for the second consecutive year.

                        1. The Penn A&T ground game had a field day against Ball St.
Led by Marcus Williams, the Dutchmen rushed for 334 yards.
                        2. Ritchy Teague had a rough first half, tossing two easy interceptions.
                        3. It wasn't all bad in the first half as Clifton Moss beat his defender in the endzone for a touchdown.
                        4. Darrien Howard continued his incredible season, picking off this direct pass from Ozzie Mann, halting a Ball St drive.
                        5. Floyd Wilson scored his third touchdown of 2016 on this catch and run past the Ball St defender

Really cool story about the former WVU players. I'm skipping back some, Howard's 65-yard INT was probably not "revenge" per se but a nice little way to ease the loss just a tad.

I really continue to like your photos, they're exceedingly well done and look very natural

I cant believe that fumble at just the wrong time against Temple, man oh man.

It was good to see the first win come against Buffanglo. Did a good job containing the QB on the runs. What a pain in the butt to have EMU even up the series. You're getting such great games so it must be a lot of fun overall. Gotta love the big plays of 97 and 98 yards in the beatdown of NIU.. .I've always liked those NIU unis and the stadium. Gotta do a chise with them someday. one step forward one back against Ohio, I agree that was a cool catch by Moss, living up to his surname there.

Scandal: Nice way to continue to test your depth in the face of struggle. Glad to see you guys pick up a win against Ball State... Is a bowl game even doable at this point? I hope so! Let's get on a roll A&T!

First off, thanks for stopping in and I'm glad you were finally able to catch up!

Howard and Christian coming from WVU has absolutely saved this program defensively. While we still give up way too many points (I truly attest that some of this is based on the gawd awful man coverage programming), we attack way better in the 3-4 than we ever did in the 4-2-5 and that is because of our linebacking core. We lose Singletary this year but get one more season of Howard and Christian. They are fun to play with. As for the WVU game, yeah, that game was actually a lot of fun at the end, especially that pick six.

In terms of my photo's, that is very refreshing to hear seeing as they're taken on my iPhone and not doctored at all. I try my best to make them look like photos you would see online. I also love using the in game screenshot function so those plays show up within the dynasty menu as well.

In terms of game quality, I really am enjoying every single game I play. I really really try to limit myself as much as possible. I limit money plays and am very open to new plays I've never used but I still manage to stay within the run first game plan. I feel like I've finally got a good slider set (haven't touched in about 5 games...new record! lol).

The scandal actually came at the hands of the random generator. I hadn't rolled it since Thomas Dillon's suspension because too many suspensions isn't realistic in my opinion. However, this one was a "scandal" that has actually been in my head since last season and it just so worked out this way. Not entirely sure how I will play it out from here, but it is kind of interesting to have some serious peril amongst the program.

A bowl game is still possible but I'd say we're on the outside looking in. We play Central Michigan next who is 6-3 but on a two game skid after being ranked just two weeks ago. I'd say we're still one season away; however, we lose A LOT this year on the offensive side of the ball and that is clearly our strongest unit.

Thanks again Helly, your insight is more than welcome!

Cloudy future for Keyser, Penn A&T program
Can a team that isn't any good really have a cheating scandal on their hands? The verdict is still out. Freshman Wide Receiver Tyler Warren was recently suspended for the rest of the season by the NCAA for accepting payments to attend Penn A&T. While the investigation is still taking place, rumors are the only news source about where the money came from and if it is more wide spread.

Head Coach Tim Keyser had few comments but did add this, "We're cooperating with these investigations. I had some guys checking my emails the other day, so that was pretty pathetic. Our guys deserve better than this and have worked too hard to have this over their heads."

No recent commits after scandal news broke
After the Fightin Dutchmen Football program had been on a hot streak with recent commitments from recruits, they did not receive any commits after their 42-28 win over Northern Illinois. It was rumored that several recruits were on their official visits but did not display their immediate intentions to play in Lancaster. So far, Penn A&T has received 13 commitments for the class of 2017. Those commitments include Quarterback Aaron Navarro of Uniontown, PA and Defensive Tackle Quante Cole of Coal Fork, W.Va.

Despite the news of a recruiting scandal involving freshman Tyler Warren, no player's have yet de-committed from Penn A&T as the NCAA investigation trudges along.

                                Christian cleared after concussion
Junior Linebacker Hodari Christian suffered a concussion in the third quarter of last weeks victory but has passed all of his tests and has cleared the concussion protocol and will play against Central Michigan.

"Thankfully it wasn't too bad. Playing the position that I do, this definitely ain't my first concussion. I'm just glad it's not as bad this time around," Christian added.
