Still checking in, man. Devastated by the loss to TCU -
I appreciate it brother. That TCU game feels like weeks ago (probably because it was). That was definitely a tough way to go out, with the kicking game being the culprit. Fortunately, the tables were turned in the bowl matchup...Click here to read my dynasty report:

Game 13, Year 16 (2025 season): #13 Tulane Green Wave vs. Penn St. Nittany Lions
#1731 -- 10-3
#1323 -- 9-4
Senior MLB Mario Young and the Wave defense gave up some plays but was able to prevent any of Penn St. RB Damian Woodard's signature big plays.
#17 Tulane builds up big first half lead, holds on for dear life in wild 31-23 Capital One Bowl win over #13 Penn St. | Key turnovers by CB Green, botched plays by Nittany Lions PK/P Anderson allow Green Wave to jump ahead and take control early | Wave holds Nittany Lions star RB Woodard in check despite solid final numbers | After picking up their 10th win to wrap up the year, Geezy and Tulane head into critical off-season after fourth straight conference championship-less season
Orlando, FL -- Nine seasons ago when these two teams met, the stakes were significantly greater. No, this year's game between Tulane and Penn St. did not have the glitz and glamour of the 2016 BCS National Championship Game, nor was there a thrilling game-winning touchdown catch like the one former Tulane RB Reggie Moore scored with 0:02 to go all those years ago, but this year's contest between the two schools was entertaining nonetheless as the Green Wave scored enough points early and held on late for a 31-23 Capital One Bowl victory over the Nittany Lions Thursday in Orlando. The Wave would get big plays from its seniors, including a pair of pivotal turnovers generated by senior CB Jamaal Green, and was able to do a good job corralling Nittany Lions star RB Damian Woodard, at least for the most part, picking up their 10th win of the season and the 10th bowl victory during the coach D. Geezy era.
Tulane senior nickel CB Jamaal Green, a former 2-star recruit out of the state of Hawaii, came away with this early pick-six that gave his team a 10-7 lead and began the Wave's early scoring binge. The touchdown was Green's third this season.
The game got off to a concerning start for Tulane however, as Penn St. was able to take the game's opening possession on an 8-play 80-yard drive that included 3 third down conversions. Woodard, who came into the game with a 1,587 rushing yards and 18 touchdowns and is almost unanimously considered the nation's top rated running back, was able to power his way in for a 4-yard touchdown that gave the Nittany Lions a 7-0 lead, drawing first blood in what was also a rematch of the 2022 Capital One Bowl, a game Penn St. won 24-21.
Unfortunately for Penn St., that was virtually the final highlight of the first half.
After forcing a three and out on Tulane's ensuing possession following Woodard's score, Penn St. got the ball back and drove to midfield before its drive stalled. And that's when the first of multiple gaffes by their punt team began.
The Nittany Lions, up 7-0, decided to attempt a fake punt to extend their drive and extend its early lead, however the Green Wave defense covered the trick play well and K/P Adam Anderson's pass to DB Matt Carroll would net a 4 yard loss, turning the ball over on downs near midfield. The first of several special teams gaffes, mainly by Anderson, would net Tulane a field goal, cutting their deficit to 7-3.
Literally on the game's very next play from scrimmage, disaster quickly struck again for the Nittany Lions on their ensuing offensive possession. This time, QB Darren White was the culprit, throwing an ill-advised pass to a well-covered WR Jay Moses, and Green Wave CB Jamaal Green picked it off, returning it 25 yards for a touchdown. Green's fourth interception and third touchdown this season gave the Wave a 10-7 advantage with 0:02 remaining in the first quarter, and that's when the avalanche began.
After a tackle of Woodard for a loss, a holding penalty, and a sack backed Penn St. up on its next drive, the Nittany Lions were forced to punt from its own end zone, and the Green Wave brought the heat. Senior DB La'Roi Brown nearly came away with a blocked punt, however he did provide enough pressure that resulted in a shanked 28-yard punt by Anderson, giving the Wave possession of the ball at the Nittany Lions 29-yard line. Five plays later, QB Jimmy McBride's 2-yard touchdown pass to senior TE/FB Carl Booker increased the Wave's lead to 17-7 midway through the second quarter.
Rinse and repeat.
On Penn St.'s very next possession, a similar scenario played out. This time, back to back sacks by MLB Mario Young and DE Mike Miller would push the ball back once again all the way to the Nittany Lions goal line for another punt from the back of the end zone. And just like last time Tulane brought the heat, this time by FS Terrell Faulk, and also just like last time, a shanked punt was the result.
This time, Anderson's punt would only go 22 yards, giving the Wave possession of the ball at their opponent's 23-yard line. Another 5-play drive would get cashed in via a 1-yard touchdown run by FB J.J. Williams, increasing Tulane's lead to 24-7 with 1:42 to go in the half. And the Green Wave first half scoring binge was not finished just yet.
Woodard followed the lead block of TE David Buckley on this 31-yard fourth quarter carry, his longest gain of the day and one of very few big plays the future NFL draft pick was able to muster.
The Nittany Lions, now down by 17 and trying to recapture the momentum, attempted a bubble screen pass to Moses late in the first half, but Green was able to jar the ball loose and Wave freshman OLB Joshua Freeman recovered, giving their team the ball at the Penn St. 24-yard line with just over a minute remaining in the half. A third 5-play drive would culminate with a 5-yard run for a touchdown by McBride, giving Tulane a commanding 31-7 lead going into the half, thanks in part to both its special teams along with Green and the defense stifling Woodard in the Penn St. offensive attack.
"You knew a back like Damian would eat, so your goal is to just make sure he didn't go nuts and eat too much on us...fortunately, we only let him order from the kid's menu today," said Tulane second year defensive coordinator Karl Dunbar, who used a mix of exotic 2-4-5 and 3-3-5 run blitzes to stop the redshirt junior star.
Penn St. and its star running back would not go away easily however.
A 75-yard third quarter touchdown pass from White to WR Aaron London cut the Nittany Lions' deficit to 31-15 following a successful two point conversion pass from White to TE David Buckley. And in the fourth quarter, their star running back would finally begin to eat.
Despite Tulane holding Woodard to a subpar day by his standards, the future NFL Draft pick began to achieve some success late. With backup QB Quinton Kelly now in the game due to a shoulder injury sustained by White, Woodard's 31-yard run with less than three minutes remaining put the Nittany Lions in position to score, along with precision passing from Kelly, who went 5 of 6 for 51 yards on the late drive. The possession would culminate with a diving 2-yard touchdown run by Woodard and a successful two point pass completion from Kelly to WR Mike Robinson, cutting their team's deficit to 31-23 with 1:39 to play.
It was too little too late for squad from Happy Valley though, as Tulane RB Michael Brown Jr. was able to recover the ensuing onside kick with under two minutes to play. RB Tony Tompkins, who left the game briefly in the second half with yet another shoulder injury but refused to come out of the game, would get a 15-yard run for a first down that cost Penn St. its second timeout. Then on the very next play, McBride completed a 16-yard pass to WR Adam Lawson for a game-sealing first down that cost the Nittany Lions their final timeout and allowed the Green Wave to run out the remainder of the clock.
Sophomore RB Michael Brown Jr.'s great hands paid dividends on special teams as he came away with this onside kick recovery with under two minutes remaining.
The final result would leave Penn St. wondering "what could have been," as earlier missed opportunities likely cost them the huge comeback win. A sack by Tulane senior DT Micah Harris resulted in a missed 50-yard field goal by Anderson when they were down 31-15 early in the fourth quarter and cost them points, as did an early fourth quarter fumble by FB Chad Sowell that was forced by Faulk near midfield that resulted in a turnover with 4:32 remaining in the game.
In a game in which everything didn't always go smoothly, Tulane showed enough grit and determination to come away with a higher point total than its opponent however. In the end, that's all that mattered, and Geezy will take a win any way they come.
"This certainly was not our cleanest game, but sometimes you have to scrape and claw your way to victories, and we did what he had to do today to come away with a big win," said the 16th year head coach, whose team has achieved a double-digit win total for the 13th time in the past 14 years after only winning nine games last season.
"Damian was as special as advertised. I thought we did a good job of neutralizing him though and not allowing too many big runs and I am especially pleased with how our seniors that stepped up today in all three phases.
"Sure, some of these players will be moving on to the next level, but for a lot of these guys, this is their last time suiting up for a football game period. Jamaal, Carl, La'Roi, heck even our punter Terry Alexander stepped up today pinning those guys deep in the first half, just to name a few. You always want to send your guys out with a great memory, and we did that today."
Unlikely hero: Senior CB Jamaal Green, the team's starting nickel corner and former 2-star recruit, won player of the game honors in what very well may have been his final appearance on a football field.

Sporting a look they have not worn since the 2019 season after a senior vote, WR Adam Lawson and the Green Wave prepared to take the field in their green helmets and white outfits.
Tulane redshirt senior Jamaal Green stepped in front of Penn St. WR Jay Moses on this first quarter pass to come away with an interception that he'd return 25 yards for a touchdown, giving the Green Wave a 10-7 lead.
Playing in his final game with Tulane, senior CB Tyler Harrison swatted away this first quarter pass attempt to WR Aaron London.
Senior utility player Carl Booker gets love from his teammates after scoring on a 2-yard touchdown reception that increased Tulane's lead to 17-7. His only catch this season, Booker operated most of his career as the team's starting long-snapper, third tight end, and played fullback in jumbo sets.
Nittany Lions star OLB Ross Herron was a torn in Tulane's side all game long, finishing with 9 tackles, 1 sack, and this first half interception.
After stepping in front of Moses for a pick-six earlier in the game, Green forced Moses to fumble on this first half bubble screen and freshman OLB Joshua Freeman (#55) recovered, setting up Tulane in scoring position late in the first half.
Following Green's second forced turnover of the game, QB Jimmy McBride's 5-yard touchdown run on a scramble made the score 31-7 with just 0:24 remaining in the first half.
Penn St. star RB Damian Woodard was taken down by FS Terrell Faulk behind the line of scrimmage on this first half carry. Despite Woodard rushing for 118 yards and 2 touchdowns, the senior and future NFL player admitted after the game that "There definitely wasn't as much daylight to run through as we saw on film."
PSU QB Darren White hit London on a short crossing route and the senior speedster turned on the jets for a 75-yard touchdown that cut the Nittany Lions' deficit to 31-15 in the third quarter.
Redshirt senior DT Micah Harris, playing in his first game after missing most of the second half of the season with a pectoral injury, came away with this huge third down sack in the fourth quarter which eventually led to a missed 50-yard field goal attempt by Penn St. PK Adam Anderson, keeping the score at 31-15.
Tulane RB Tony Tompkins, who has suffered several injuries to his right shoulder and pectoral area over the course of his career, re-injured the same shoulder in the fourth quarter despite wearing a protective compression sleeve that he's worn most of his career. Playing his in final game, the senior refused to come out of the game and would make a big play later.
Penn St. freshman FS Pierre Smith, a player Tulane went hard after in recruiting last year, jumped sky-high to come away with this fourth quarter interception.
Woodard's emphatic dive into the end zone cut the Penn St. deficit to 31-23 following a successful two point conversion with 1:39 remaining.
Tompkins had an unspectacular performance in his final game with the Wave, finishing with 74 yards on 18 carries. However, after refusing to leave the game due to injury earlier in the fourth quarter, this 13-yard carry with under two minutes remaining kept the chains moving late and helped put his team in position to run out the clock.
QB Jimmy McBride and his teammates celebrate on the field following Tulane's 10th win of the season.

follow up to the above. do you think Marv Alexander and Chad Campbell will be able to step into your two openings on the offensive line and not see a significant drop off? are you planning to shuffle the line any or just plug in new starters at C and RT? any fear of Kyle Gray leaving early?---Comment

We will have guys rated in the mid to high 80s almost across the board. Also, the young RB I have a committment from, Teddy Jenkins, on paper looks to be possibly the most talented back I have ever gotten, including the famous Reggie Moore.
Defensively, my entire front-7 will be stout, and as usual lately, the secondary is the concern. However, we have a handful of stud 4-star defensive backs coming in to hopefully help.

I don't foresee Gray being an early departure candidate, but stranger things have certainly happened. That would be a devastating blow if it does occur though.
Thanks for checking in and I appreciate the questions - It provided a nice canvass to talk about things that don't necessarily get to be addressed in reports, especially in regards to the offensive line.Click here to read my dynasty report:

Green Wave News Clips
Geezy is committed to coaching at Tulane, but a lack of recent success is hurting his negotiation leverage.

Tulane | Geezy, Green Wave far apart on extension talks
Tue, 13 Jan 2026 03:17:37 -0700
Erin Andrews of FOX Sports, who despite being an NFL reporter is strangely as dialed-in to Tulane football as any other person, reports that Green Wave head coach D. Geezy and the university are working on a long term extension, but the two sides are very far apart on numbers. According to Andrews, Geezy is looking for a contract extension in the neighborhood of the mega $15 million per year contract Nick Saban just landed at Alabama following their second straight national title, but university officials are balking at Geezy's demands, reportedly offering only a 3-year deal in the $10 million per year range.
Geezy, who just completed his 16th season at Tulane, is entering the final year of a 10-year contract he signed after the 2016 season, and his $15 million per year asking price would essentially triple the average salary of his last deal. Geezy turns 46 in a week, and is reportedly looking for a 5-year contract, as he has told people close to him that he intends to coach until the age of 50 and he prefers to remain in his hometown New Orleans.
"He hasn't won a conference title in four seasons and he's essentially looking to be made the nation's highest paid coach," said a university source.
"I get it. He's taken Tulane football to heights never seen before and he's won two national titles, but that was nearly a decade ago and this is a 'what have you done for me lately' business. This just makes no sense and I could see this lingering throughout the entire off-season.
"It'll really be a shame for both sides if this deal doesn't get done and this ends up being how Coach Geezy's tenure with the Green Wave ends after the year is up."

Larson finished last season 21 of 27 on field goals and kicked the game-winner in Tulane's 33-30 victory over rival LSU in week four.

Tulane | PK Larson leaving
Thu, 15 Jan 2026 10:08:24 -0700
Meghan Kluth of FearTheWave.com reports that Tulane PK Aaron Larson (83 ovr), who just completed his junior season, has elected to forgo his senior season and enter the NFL Draft. Larson, a Kentucky native and former 3-star recruit, made 21 of 27 field goals in 2025 and finishes his career 56 of 69, good for a career percentage of 81.1%.
Larson, who admits he only received a draft grade of "6th round to undrafted free agent" by league advisors, has already graduated school with a degree in medicine, and plans to enroll in medical school should his NFL journey not work out.
After a strong junior campaign in which he went 19 of 21 through the team's first 11 games, Larson's low-point came in a 27-17 regular season finale loss to TCU, in which he only converted 1 of 5 of his attempts.
Tulane has one recruiting commitment at the position so far this year, New Jersey 3-star PK Blake Dunn (#4 rated PK, A kpw, D+ kac).

Monroe sent a not-so-subtle tweet about his intentions Thursday afternoon.

Alabama | RB Monroe to stay for senior year
Thu, 15 Jan 2026 04:14:17 -0700
Molly McGrath of ESPN reports that Alabama star RB Deuce Monroe (91 ovr, pre-progression), in somewhat of a surprise, will stay for his redshirt senior season and not enter the NFL Draft. The former 4-star recruit and Tulane transfer was instrumental in the Crimson Tide's back to back 14-0 national championship seasons, rushing for 1,426 yards and 17 touchdowns this past year while also catching 31 passes for 403 yards and 5 touchdowns as well as returning 1 punt return for a touchdown. His return likely makes the Tide the odds-on favorite to win the title again in 2026.
On Thursday afternoon, Monroe sent a tweet that hinted strongly towards a return, using the hashtags #3peat, #Heismandreamin', and #rolltide, and McGrath later confirmed the news via a phone call with Monroe.
"You only live once and you only get to play college football once. I want to try to win another ring and I want to try to win a Heisman Trophy," said Monroe, who earned a redshirt year due to sitting out the 2023 season following his transfer from Tulane.
"This is my home state, I love this school and what it stands for, and I can't wait to get back out there and go for the trifecta."

The first time it happened was my kicker from the default roster, Ryan Rome, who left back in 2012 as a redshirt junior after a year in which he went 17 of 17. Then it happened again in 2022, when Chris Coleman left as a true junior following a 19 of 24 season.
Unfortunately, no new kicker recruits appeared in the off-season recruiting pool, so we are going to have to roll with the guy we just signed during this past season, 3-star recruit Blake Dunn. He has 'A' KPW, which is much better than Larson and should allow us to try more 50+ yard attempts again. However his 'D+' KAC could be an issue for us, given my kick accuracy slider setting and the well-covered joystick issue.Click here to read my dynasty report:
