    Starfield

Although it hasn't been announced, I think it's very likely that this is Bethesda's new IP that will be revealed at E3. Bethesda games are the only games that I have to say I enjoy more than sports titles like MLB The Show.

For those who don't know, it is heavily rumored that Bethesda (the makers of The Elder Scrolls and Fallout) have been working on a new open-world space game for quite a while now. It is believed that there will be a multi-player component to this game.

I'm super hyped and can't wait for their E3 presentation on June 11th.

I'll be glad for a space based IP from them, I am totally burned out on the Fallout setting.

I'm not quite burnt out on it but it will be nice for a change. The Elder Scrolls is my all-time favorite game series, by far. But I'll be excited to see what Bethesda can do with an open-world space game. The inclusion of multiplayer should be interesting as well. I just hope that it involves some kind of co-op, as opposed to the traditional multiplayer battle modes. We shall see.

          Re: Starfield

I'm surprised there's not a little more buzz about this game on here now, given it's a sports gaming forum, but still.

It's hard to believe it's already been almost a year since Bethesda's horrible E3 showing in 2017. I, like many others believe that Starfield was set to be announced last year but for whatever reason, got pulled at the last minute. I'd be beyond surprised if it is not shown in great detail this year at E3 and I have to say, I'm ready for something like this. Bethesda Game Studios has been my favorite game developer for many, many years now. By far, Elder Scrolls is my all-time favorite game series. I love Fallout as well, but nothing compares to The Elder Scrolls. But a Bethesda game set in space sounds pretty nice as well. I was a fan of the original Mass Effect series and Knight of the Old Republic is arguably my favorite game of all time. I know, strange because I said that The Elder Scrolls series is my favorite.

Either way, if you're into big, open-world games and space, YouTube Starfield and see all the rumors floating around. I think it may be as soon as next month that we get an announcement and possibly a trailer, maybe right before E3, kind of like they did for Fallout 4.

I'm sure once we have the official announcement and see some actual gameplay the buzz will increase exponentially.

Yeah very excited about this, but there just isn't any information to go on. It's a complete unknown.

That said, I am looking forward to Bethesda at e3 this year. Love Elder Scrolls, but the Fallout series never did it for me. A true open world space game does sound exciting though as Mass Effect is one of my all-time favorite games.

No doubt. I think it will be relatively soon.

Any new space games, especially RPGs are welcome. Hopefully it'll have Citadel like areas from Mass Effect to explore.

This is easily my most anticipated game of 2022. I have complete confidence that we will get a full-blown, 30+ minute E3 demo from Todd Howard at E3 this year. I'm really looking forward to seeing what this game has in store.

For anyone that hasn't seen it thus far, here's the trailer.

Before getting a Series X, I never tried a Bethesda game. When Fallout 4 got a frame rate boost I downloaded it and put an hour or so into it, but just never went back due to already being lost in a bunch of games. I have played some games from studios housed within Bethesda and now MS, such as Doom 2016 and Doom Eternal from id (both amazing games, playing the Doom Eternal DLC now and loving it) and Deathloop from Arcane (on PS5). But as a Bethesda newbie, which game should I play on my Series X to get a good idea of what Starfield is all about? Should I go back to Fallout 4?

Hard to say because it depends on what you're into. If you're into the fantasy RPG, there's no better game than Skyrim. If you're into post-apocalyptic settings, then Fallout obviously. I think Starfield will likely resemble Fallout more than Skyrim, even though that's not a great comparison.

It's also worth noting that BGS games are always best on PC because of the mod support. I play Skyrim and Fallout 4 on PC still to this day and it looks just as good, if not better than most new releases.

The thing that BGS do better than any other RPG is it truly lets you set the pace of the game. If you want to go out and collect ingredients and mix potions for hours, go for it. If you want to dungeon dive, you can do that as well. I spend hours upon hours decorating my home(s) with loot I acquire from exploring. Some games come close, like The Witcher, but no other game developer has captured my imagination quite like Bethesda Game Studios.

As Gagnon said there is no perfect answer. However, at this point, I think I’d try Skyrim if I were you as it’s the most updated and even on console mod friendly. You’ll get the best Bethesda experience on your series X to me that should help you get a feel. Obviously weapon choice will be very different but style of game should be similar as it’s newer.

Thanks guys. I have Game Pass and I know I can download Skyrim through there, but what do I have to buy in order to play the enhanced Series X version? Do I have to buy the full anniversary edition for $50, or can I just pay $18 for the anniversary upgrade and apply that to what I get through Game Pass?

I'm not entirely sure, actually. I've bought Skyrim at the very least twice, once for 360 and again for PC. When I play it now I play it on PC using Special Edition with hundreds of mods.
