Safe to say Tulane had the last time Auburn came to the Superdome on their mind in that game no?

And Jesus, the SEC West is a literal gauntlet. I can't remember if the version of NCAA you're playing had the scoreboard ticker on the bottom but if it does I can imagine you'll be screen peaking at #2 Alabama-#9 Arkansas next week

Haha...yeah putting my imagination to work, I'm sure Coach Geezy played an endless loop of the 2024 Auburn-Tulane "highlights" in the pregame locker room. After that debacle two seasons ago, I was laser-focused going into this one.

The SEC West has definitely risen to the top, and seems to be on the upswing. The teams are not only good, but for the most part, they're young and will all see big leaps here over the next couple of seasons.

That said, Alabama is still the cream of the crop in talent-level and I see them having no problems taking care of Arkansas. Stranger things have certainly happened already in recent seasons though!

Game 3, Year 17 Preview (2026 season): South Carolina at #6 Tulane

        GAME 3 PREVIEW

        Courtesy

Latest Line (courtesy Bovada - Las Vegas):

        ....................8 1/2....................

2022: LEFT: Gamecocks RB Kevin Higgins slashed his way through the Tulane defense for a career-high 210 yards and a touchdown while also adding 58 receiving yards and another score. | RIGHT: Former Green Wave RB Tony Tompkins, then a true freshman, was told to get off the field by Gamecocks DE Luke Alexander after being stuffed behind the line of scrimmage on a late third down attempt.

Last Meeting: Four seasons ago, unranked South Carolina stormed out to an early 14-0 lead and never looked back, ousting then-#8 ranked Tulane in a 45-17 upset in Columbia. Gamecocks RB Kevin Higgins had a field day, accounting for 268 yards from scrimmage and 2 touchdowns (1 rushing, 1 receiving), as his team shockingly knocked off the Green Wave in blow away fashion for the second time in three games.

2021: Former Tulane star CB Nate Hall's interception in the end zone midway through the second quarter kept his team's deficit at 24-14. | Former Green Wave star WR Ryan Jean burned the Gamecocks secondary all afternoon, catching 6 passes for 130 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Last Meeting at Venue: After falling behind 31-21 to #20 South Carolina, #8 Tulane reeled off 31 unanswered points en route to a 52-31 statement victory in 2021 at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. Former Wave QB Bryce Allen, then a true freshman, threw for 396 yards and 4 touchdowns while former RB Buck Johnson III rushed for 101 yards and 2 scores. Tulane's top 2 receivers, the legendary Ryan Jean and Brandon McIntyre, torched the Gamecocks for 11 receptions for 256 yards and 3 touchdowns combined as the Wave rolled to 4-0 on the year and avenged their SEC title game loss to South Carolina from the previous season.

        Trip Down Memory Lane
Celebrating the 10-year anniversary of Tulane's 2016 BCS National Title

2016: TOP ROW - Tulane RB Reggie Moore's 67-yard touchdown run on the first possession of the 3rd quarter gave the Green Wave a 10-3 lead. | BOTTOM ROW - A few possessions later in the third quarter, Moore struck again. This time, he lined up as a slot receiver and ran a slant pattern, catching QB Jamie Manning's pass in stride for a 59-yard touchdown to extend his team's lead to 20-3.

Last Meeting (Legacy Classic): A decade ago, #2 Tulane took a commanding 20-3 third quarter lead and was able to resist a fourth quarter rally by #20 South Carolina in order to hold on for a 23-17 victory in the 2016 SEC Chamionship Game. Green Wave superstar RB Reggie Moore ran the ball 14 times for 168 yards and a touchdown and also caught 4 passes for 99 yards and a score in what was one of the signature performance of his illustrious career. The win for the Wave was their second over the Gamecocks that season, and clinched the team a spot in its first ever BCS National Title game, a contest they'd eventually win.

I'm not sure if it is a setting that you have turned off or not, but you'll notice under my avatar that the number of posts I have made is listed.

We are thinking that once you get to 10 or 20 posts or some number, you should have the ability to start a thread. It's been such a long time since when I first got started here on OS, that I don't remember what the minimum number was when I first joined, if any.

Game 3, Year 17 (2026 season): South Carolina Gamecocks at #6 Tulane Green Wave

              NR 07 -- 2-1 (0-1)
              #6 47 -- 3-0 (2-0)

QB Jimmy McBride threw for 231 yards and 3 touchdowns, continuing his hot start to the 2026 campaign.

#6 Tulane erases demons of yester-year, crushes South Carolina 47-7 at Mercedes-Benz Superdome | Green Wave offense accounts for over 500 yards for a second straight week as team improves to 3-0 | Defense comes away with 3 interceptions, including another by emerging star true freshman CB Blalock | Rivalry battle with #22 LSU at Death Valley next on the horizon

New Orleans, LA -- South Carolina had won two of its previous three games versus ranked Tulane teams, each win coming in blowout fashion, including a 48-24 massacre in the 2020 SEC Championship Game. Saturday afternoon, the tables were turned, as the #6 ranked Green Wave had no problems disposing of the unranked Gamecocks in a 47-7 drubbing this weekend at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. In a similar script to last weekend's home win versus Auburn, after going down 7-6 early in the second quarter, the Wave reeled off 41 unanswered points the rest of the way. The scoring run was aided by 3 second quarter touchdown passes by QB Jimmy McBride, including 1 to his star WR Adam Lawson.

Tulane WR Adam Lawson finished Saturday afternoon with 3 receptions for 76 yards and a touchdown, giving him three scores on the young season.

It took a little while for the Green Wave's offense to get rolling. All the team could muster in the game's first quarter were two field goals by freshman PK Blake Dunn, who is now a perfect 8 for 8 this season on field goal attempts.

On the very first play of the second quarter, Gamecocks QB Sam Penn motioned RB Roderick Fisher out of the backfield and split him out wide. The redshirt sophomore back would run a corner-flag route in one-on-one coverage versus freshman FS Donnie Sparks to perfection, getting wide open for a 39-yard touchdown that put his team up early. Fisher finished the contest with 81 yards from scrimmage before leaving the game in the second quarter due to a back injury.

And that's about when the Green Wave scoring avalanche began.

McBride's 51-yard strike to freshman WR Steve Mosley quickly gave the Wave the lead again, making the score 13-7. Then, after Sparks made up for his earlier coverage mistake by coming up with an interception, McBride's aforementioned 44-yard hookup with Lawson increased their team's lead to 20-7. The 6-6 Lawson finished the afternoon with 3 receptions for 76 yards.

Penn, who finished just 11 of 22 for 160 yards, would throw his second interception of the game later in the quarter, this one to Tulane junior SS Jo Jo Price. A few plays later, McBride would again make them pay for the turnover, this time cashing it in via a 10-yard scoring toss to RB Michael Brown Jr., giving the Wave a commanding 27-7 lead with 0:08 remaining in the half. McBride finished the game 11 of 17 for 231 yards and 3 touchdowns in 2 1/2 quarters of action.

Any hopes of a second half comeback were quickly dashed, as Tulane would go on a methodical 11-play 82-yard drive which lasted 3:57 and it culminated with a 6-yard touchdown run by third string RB Brian Anthony that made the score 34-7.

Impressive freshman CB Kurt Blalock has caught 3 interceptions in Tulane's last two contests.
Then, following true freshman CB Kurt Blalock's third interception this season, starting sophomore RB Anthony Brown's 91-yard touchdown run would put the game away, putting the Wave up 41-7 with 2:34 to go in the third quarter. Brown finished the game with 18 carries for 132 rushing yards, and his career-long touchdown burst signaled the end of the day for Tulane's starting units on both sides of the ball. Despite a second straight game in which the starters did not need to finish, Tulane head coach D. Geezy was guarded in praising his team, cautioning that they've been here before.

"This was a good win and I felt it was a complete game, but we have to keep trying to find ways to get better as the season goes on," said the veteran, 17th year head coach.

"Slow starts, turnovers, and coverage lapses may not get you beat against Auburn or South Carolina, but it could get you beat against the LSUs, the Alabamas, and the Notre Dames of the world.

"With each game you win, the games become more and more important and the pressure starts to build. We just have to stay within ourselves and continue to find ways to stay away from the things that get you beat."

Tulane (3-0) will travel down Interstate Highway-10 next weekend to take on #22 LSU at Tigers Stadium in the two schools' annual "Battle for the Rag" rivalry game. Last season, the Green Wave needed a 32-yard walkoff field goal by former PK Aaron Larson to defeat the Tigers 33-30 at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.

Notes: Green Wave QB Jimmy McBride finished Saturday's game with 3 touchdown passes and no interceptions, his third straight game without throwing an interception. This marked the first time since 2019 that Tulane has gone three straight games without throwing an interception. In fact, the feat has only been done three times during head coach D. Geezy's 17-year tenure: 2012 (Curtis Byrd - 4), 2013 (Byrd - 3), and 2019 (Preston Fields - 4)...Geezy was unusually candid after the game regarding player injuries, noting that freshman backup RB Teddy Jenkins suffered a shoulder injury in the second quarter which kept him out the remainder of the game; the injury is not expected to cause him to miss next week's game. Fourth string RB Brian Grier was less fortunate however, as Geezy noted that the former junior college transfer suffered broken ribs in the second half and could miss "up to a couple of months."

RB/WR Michael Brown Jr. pleaded with an official for a touchdown call near the sideline and eventually won his case, as he was credited with 10-yard score that put his team up 27-7 just before halftime.

It was a familiar sight Saturday afternoon as yet another sellout crowd was ready for Green Wave action.

South Carolina RB Roderick Fisher silenced the audience when he beat freshman CB Donnie Sparks for this 39-yard touchdown grab after being motioned out to receiver, giving the Gamecocks a 7-6 advantage.

A Tulane cheerleader did not get the memo that this was a family atmosphere, and may have bared just a little too much on this Saturday afternoon.

True freshman WR Steven Mosley spun past one defender and weaved his way through traffic for a 51-yard touchdown reception. It was the first score of the blue chip recruit's career and put Tulane back up 13-7.

Fisher's back flared up on him in the second quarter and he was forced to exit the game after visiting with trainers.

True freshman FS Donnie Sparks made amends for his earlier coverage lapse and came through with this interception on an overthrown pass attempt to TE Phillip Munoz.

WR Adam Lawson, who leads all Wave wideouts with 10 grabs for 236 yards and 3 touchdowns this season, found paydirt here on this 44-yard second quarter score that increased Tulane's lead to 20-7.

Green Wave star senior DE T.J. Pearson, a likely first round pick in next April's NFL Draft, brought down South Carolina QB Sam Penn, giving him his first sack of the season.

QB Jimmy McBride is on fire thus far this season, throwing for 8 touchdowns and 0 interceptions through three games.

RB Anthony Brown got off to an extremely slow start, but this career-long 91-yard touchdown helped save his stat line and also all but put the game away by making the score 41-7 late in the third quarter.

              H. Geezy, Tulane head coach D. Geezy's wife, normally seated in the family's luxury suite, watched the game from the stands this weekend.

Looks like LSU almost paid for looking ahead of the schedule to you guys against Troy. As for Tulane, it's hopeful that they're focusing on each opponent one game at a time this season with such a tough schedule. The lack of title contention in recent years has mounted, here's to living up to the pressure so far. Long way to go though, but a great start.

Love the world-building photos you added with the cheerleader (lol) and Mrs. Coach Geezy.

Great to see the Wave rolling. Very impressed by the display by this squad. Your youngsters are coming through in the backfield, but I'm worried about the secondary aside from the goon catching all the picks.

I see Michael Brown now has a slash-position designation. Playing him out of the slot?

Wonderful to see the ground and pound so successfully setting up the passing game.

                        Keep it pushing.

Ha...it wouldn't be the first time LSU got caught peaking past Troy:

                          ESPN Recap: Troy 24 LSU 21 (2017)

The pressure has absolutley mounted here. It has been nearly a decade since we have won a title, which is both exciting from a sim standpoint but discouraging at the same time. We really cannot afford to look past anyone, especially a rival in LSU that nearly beat us last season.

Thanks for pointing out the photos. I always enjoy capturing as much non-game action as possible. I guess and after years of Coach Geezy's antics with everyone's favorite reporters, it's about time for him to start settling down now that we are in year 2026 and he's approaching his late 40s. Coach Geezy is dialed in and focused on getting the Wave back on top!

                          Good deal man...

Yes South Carolina had it coming to them. I feel really good about this Wave team. I feel like we're getting our swagger back that we somehow had lost these past few years.

Good luck with the dynasty. Let me know if there is anything I can ever do to help or if you have any questions on anything.

I see Michael Brown now has a slash-position designation. Playing him out of the slot?

Wonderful to see the ground and pound so successfully setting up the passing game.

                          Keep it pushing.

The secondary I feel hasn't really been challenged yet. You're right; I too am worried about how they'll fare once we get to the meat of the schedule - namely Notre Dame, Alabama, UCLA, and Southern Miss. As you'll see on the moment with my next post, we have some help on the way, but sadly it won't help us until next season.

Michael Brown Jr.'s role is unchanged really. He is still our main back on passing downs and sometimes when we go 4-wide, I move him out to the slot. The only reason for the change in the way I present it on the lineup page is I simply wanted to make sure he was on there despite freshman Teddy Jenkins truly operating as my #2 back. I really am enjoying the committee backfield approach this year.

Eve Jewell of ESPNU - New Orleans reports that, after 7 years of struggling to get commitments from top defensive back prospects, Tulane was the winner of two of the biggest prizes of this year's early signing period, getting commitments from Texas 5-star FS Jeremy Reid (6-0, 211, 4.42 40-time, #1 rated FS) and New York 5-star SS Damon Hayes (5-11, 194, 4.44 40-time, #2 rated SS). The commitments mark the first blue chip defensive back signings for the Green Wave since 2019 (CB Nate Hall). Both players were amongst those that visited Tulane's campus the weekend of the team's 52-14 week two home win versus Auburn.

Reid, the nation's #13 overall prospect according to ESPNU's prospect rankings, is one of the fiercest hitters in the nation and an absolute ballhawk, as he notched 12 interceptions during his junior season at Crystal City High. A two-way player who also caught 35 receptions for 630 yards 8 touchdowns as a wide receiver, Reid will likely compete with current Wave starting true freshman FS Donnie Sparks (77 ovr) for playing time next fall.

Hayes on the other hand, is the nation's #24 overall rated recruit. The Hempstead High product caught 6 interceptions during the 2025 season as a prep junior and will compete with current Wave junior SS Jo Jo Price (80 ovr) for playing time, however Tulane head coach D. Geezy indicated that the team would find ways to get both he and Reid on the field.

"We have a very clear vision of what these guys bring to the table and what we want out of them," said Geezy, who said that the team has been working to acquire personnel that would enable them to deploy 3 and 4 safety sets.

"We went through a bit of a drought for a while and now the defensive backfield as a whole seems to be turning a corner. You add two guys of this caliber, and it really changes the dynamics of your defense. Both (defensive coordinator) Karl Dunbar and (defensive backs coach) Cameron DeJean were pretty amped up when they learned the news and we can't wait to have these guys here."

2025: Former Wave PK Aaron Larson drilled the game-winning 32-yard walk-off field goal as time expired, capping off a perfect 4 for 4 day and helping his team earn an emphatic victory over the Tigers a year ago.

Last Meeting: Last season, 16th ranked LSU jumped out to an early 14-3 lead, their first double-digit lead over their SEC rival Tulane since the 2016 season. However, behind steady play from then-redshirt sophomore QB Jimmy McBride along with a strong defensive performance by former Wave MLB Mario Young, the #6 ranked Green Wave prevailed in a thrilling 33-30 victory over the Tigers at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. McBride threw for 355 yards and a touchdown while Young accounted for 14 tackles and 2 sacks as the Green Wave won its 9th straight over their in-state foes. After seeing the Tigers tie the game up at 30-30 with 1:58 remaining, McBride put together a drive for the ages, setting up former Wave PK Aaron Larson for the game-winning 32-yard walk-off field goal as the clock expired. The win improved head coach D. Geezy's record to 11-3 overall versus the Tigers.

2024: Tulane star DB Jonathan Smith had some fun with the cameraman after taking his first ever career attempt at a punt return 63 yards for a touchdown that made the score 21-7 in the first quarter. | Not to be out-done, RB Tony Tompkins also made his mark on special teams, blazing past Tigers defenders for a 92-yard kickoff return touchdown that made the score 35-14 and blew the game wide open in the second quarter.

Last Meeting at Venue: Two seasons ago, at rain-soaked Tiger Stadium, #9 ranked Tulane scored early and often, ousting their in-state arch rival LSU 49-21 for a decisive early season victory. Sparked by two special teams touchdowns, one by RB Tony Tompkins on a kickoff return and another by DB Jonathan Smith via a punt return, the Green Wave stormed out to a 35-14 lead and never looked back. Then-redshirt freshman QB Jimmy McBride threw for 303 yards and 4 touchdowns as the Wave won their 8th straight over the SEC West nemesis.

Celebrating the 10-year anniversary of Tulane's 2016 BCS National Title

2016: Former LSU QB Michael Robertson's 4-yard touchdown pass to former WR Dominic Holmes capped off an 8-play opening second half possession and increased the Tigers' lead to 24-10, and the home team never looked back.

Last Meeting III (Legacy Classic): One decade ago, #10 ranked Tulane lost then-true freshman and eventual star QB Jamie Manning to an abdominal injury early in the first quarter and had issues getting its offense going until it was too late, eventually falling to then-#14 LSU 31-27 at Tiger Stadium in 2016. The eventual BCS National Champions that season, Tulane faced a 31-10 third quarter deficit and nearly pulled off the miracle comeback, however a late interception thrown by third string QB George Ford with 1:29 remaining sealed the Wave's fate that afternoon. The game represented Tulane's only loss during their historic national title run, and also represents the last time they fell to their in-state rival LSU.

                              Head Coach D. Geezy's Take

Head coach D. Geezy addressed the media on Friday before boarding one his team's charter buses to make the one hour trip to Baton Rouge.

There isn't a whole lot to say here - we are two teams that really don't like each other at all, and they're coming in hungry after finally almost beating us last fall. They boast one of the best defenses in the nation and have a very solid running game with RB Jamie Stover (84 ovr) and a very good young passer in QB Rob Mason (80 ovr) that we know a lot about, as we recruited him very hard a couple of years ago.

Tiger Stadium is one of the most hostile environments in college football and we know we're going to get their 'A' game. They're a young, up-and-coming team that is right on the brink of putting themselves right back in the national conversation. Looking at things objectively, this game could be a turning point for their program and could indeed put them right back into the national conversation. They also literally have 19 big time recruits visiting their campus for this game, so this is a big contest for them not only in the current standings, but also on the recruiting trail.

We've beaten this team 9 straight times, and I know and respect our game enough to know that LSU is one day going to beat Tulane again; this streak won't last forever. We have to play smart, disciplined football because this is a hungry Tigers team that's long overdue for some big wins and they feel that they let one slip away from them last year at the dome.

                              - Tulane head coach D. Geezy

I'm not worried about this game, but that makes me worry. Play within yourselves. It's an away game, and like you said, the steak is gonna end eventually. If y'all keep executing how you have been these last two weeks, there's nothing to worry about.
