    ------------------
Dutchmen have record setting victory over Western Michigan, 51-34

    Summary
Penn A&T set a school record for rushing yards with 443 in their season-ending victory over Western Michigan on Saturday. Three players rushed for over 85 yards and they scored six times on the ground.

RB Marcus Williams led the way with 196 yards on 15 carries with three TD's, while Derek Stone added 92 yards and two touchdowns in his final game. QB Ritchy Teague also rushed for 86 yards and a score, also in his final collegiate game.

From the get-go, the offense set the tone with big, bulk run plays, including runs of 55 and 50 yards from Williams and Stone. The defense also did their part today, forcing two punts and an interception in the fourth quarter.

With the 28-27 lead late in the third quarter, Penn A&T was stuffed at the WMU 1-yard line on fourth down. However, on the very first play of the Bronco drive, Darrien Howard tackled Fabian Johnson in the endzone for a safety. From that moment on, Penn A&T shut it down on offense, scoring three time throughout the fourth quarter.

Penn A&T finishes the season just shy of being bowl eligible with a 5-7 record. It's a big turnaround after starting the season 0-4, then they went onto win three of their final four games.

I like the fact you pointed out who all the seniors were, it adds to the immersion on this. I intend to steal the idea lol.

Great win to end the year on a high note. 5-3 on the back end of the year is something to be proud of. Williams, Stone and Strong were a flat out three headed monster.

Awesome to see this back rolling. Great win to close out a successful year - I can't imagine the positive vibes surrounding the program entering a new year. Obviously you're losing a bunch of seniors, but hopefully you can ride the success of the season's final games all the way to a bowl next year. Do you think that is a possibility or am I being too optimistic?

Guru, thanks for checking in dude! I’m in the process of getting caught up with UConn myself as I make up for lost time with all the dynasties I followed before.

Morale is definitely high after the solid ending to the year. However, any possible repercussions surrounding the Tyler Warren situation put a small cloud over the program. The staff has had some issues with discipline in the first four years; however, they were typically older players and that will happen with a new program. We seem to be bringing in some good recruits that have been staying out of trouble.

On the field, as you’ll see here soon, we will be losing a lot more than what the box scores show. Both sides of the ball are losing a good amount of depth and our recruiting classes in the first two years weren’t great. The class we have coming in next year is by far the best one we’ve had. So depending on how the offseason goes, we could be starting a lot of young guys next year.

Also, I really need to make some changes on defense whether it be scheme or slider based, I just can’t take the constant back and forth scoring anymore. Our defense isn’t as bad as the amount of points we gave up this season and at times the CPU is just unstoppable. I believe this has something to do with the amount of teams that run the broken Spread No Huddle. I do coach adjustments for realism but also feel weird changing the dynamic of a team...guess I’ll have to do some reading into what others do.

So to finally answer your question, I do think a bowl is possible next year; however, with a change at QB, losing our top two WR and some key defenders, it will not be easy. I’d say before a bowl, my first goal is 6-6. (I guess to clarify, at 6-6 in the MAC there isn’t a guarantee that I’d get a bowl. I read over that statement and was like wait, I can make a bowl at 6–6 )

                  Senior Spotlight

Here, we will discuss all of the seniors who have now ended their careers at Pennsylvania A&T. This group is special though, they were freshman when Penn A&T was in their inaugural season as a football program. They weren't good but they were decent. They never saw a winning team, and no one really expected them to.

Geez, that was a bit group to lose. Next year could be pretty tough without all those guys. I like the little shout outs for them though, to give a recap of their impact. It's a really cool touch.

Thanks SB! I appreciate the kind words. Unfortuantely, I wasn't able to do them the justice they deserve. I was going to try and makeup some nice graphics for each player but just didn't have the time.

I recently started writing fantasy football for Rotoballer so that has been keeping me pretty busy. Can't wait to get through the offseason though and into 2017!

                        Recruiting Scandal Summary

BREAKING: Tim Keyser cleared of any wrong doing in recruiting scandal

The NCAA released a report on Tuesday regarding the recruiting violations involving Pennsylvania A&T freshman wide receiver Tyler Warren. They also announced that head coach Tim Keyser had no part in the violations.

Warren had been suspended since November 3, missing the Fightin Dutchmen's final four games of the year. It was alleged that Warren accepted money during his recruitment to attend Penn A&T.

The report confirmed that Warren accepted $5,000 for his attendance at Penn A&T.

Similar to Keyser, no member of the coaching staff was named in the investigation report.

The individual who provided the funds to Warren was identified as Jeff Morrison, a member of the board of trustees at Penn A&T. Morrison was one of the founding members of the institution that opened its doors in 2011.

The connection between Morrison and Warren stems from Morrison attending college with Warren's uncle, Michael Warren, at Duke University. Morrison and Tyler Warren had met several times before and Morrison made several trips to Warren's home over his senior year in high school.

Warren is native of Bel Air North, Maryland. He committed to Penn A&T in 2015 and this past season was his freshman year. He appeared in eight games and caught three passes for 57 yards and two touchdowns.

One interesting note is that Penn A&T will not be penalized for the violation. Since the money came from outside of the program and no one within the program knew of the payment, the NCAA saw it fit to not penalize the program.

However, Warren is barred from participating in any NCAA sanctioned football games for a calendar year.

Coach Keyser / AD Van Horne's Reaction to Report
                        Tim Keyser (Head Coach):
I just want to say that I'm glad that this whole situation is over and resolved. For such a young program to endure the turmoil and investigations that we have over the pat few months, is unheard of. I am beyond proud of our team, for how they pushed through the final four games of the season. I am forever indebted to their hard work in keeping things together.

Tyler and I have spoken in the past few days, and I just want to say that I appreciate the hard work that he put in while a member of our football team. It is unfortunate that someone he trusted would put him in a position such as this. Tyler is a good person and his family is strong. I believe they we make the right decision for his future.

                        Daniel Van Horne (Athletic Director)
I am disappointed in the light this investigation has brought on our football program; however, I am pleased with our departments cooperation and determination to push through the last few months. Despite this untimely investigation, Coach Keyser has created an opportunity for Penn A&T to remain competitive well into the future. I am confident that this program will continue to be better, both on and off the field. I have no further comment at this time.

                            A letter from Tim Keyser

                            -Jan 16, 2017
I would like to announce my resignation as the head football coach at Pennsylvania A&T University. I have accepted to become the offensive coordinator at Syracuse University in Syracuse, New York.

                            --------------------------
                            To the fans

First off, I just want to say that this decision has no part in anything pertaining to the results of the investigation regarding our program. I stand by the innocence of my staff, team, and program.

Secondly, when I accepted the job to be the head coach a Pennsylvania A&T, it was the biggest risk I have ever taken in my entire life. I left a job at West Chester that allowed my family and I stability for years to come. I wanted more and my wife saw that, and when I told her about this opportunity, she knew that I needed to take it.

Building a program from literally day one is obviously not an easy task, but any coach would be a mad man to turn down such a chance at building their legacy.

Dan (Van Horne) has given me everything I ever needed to make this program more than just a bunch of kids in football pads. He understood creating this program could get ugly, but he embraced the fact that it would be a process. For his willingness to give me a chance, I am forever grateful.

I don't want to say I ran this program perfectly. We had our fair share of issues, on and off the field, over just four years. However, for the most part, I am beyond proud of what this program looks like today. This most recent group of seniors, I consider them to be my sons as they were the first group of players to spend all four years in this program. They will tell you it was probably the most difficult thing they have ever done in their lives. But they fought each and every day, and I wish them the best of luck in the future.

I also want to thank my staff. Those men also saw an opportunity to change the landscape of college football and their willingness to grind it out every single week is commendable. I have no doubts in their ability to land on their feet elsewhere.

That's it for now. I hope you all understand that this opportunity was yet another one that I could not pass up to provide for my family.

I wish this program and the community nothing but the best of luck.

                            Fight on Dutchmen!

                            Sincerely,
                            Tim Keyser

Tim Keyser Leaving Pennsylvania A&T University
                            --Lancaster, PA (Jan. 16)

Pennsylvania A&T head football coach Tim Keyser has announced that he is resigning as coach of the program. He will become the offensive coordinator at Syracuse University.

Keyser joins Doc Holliday's staff at Syracuse after Holliday just accepted the head coach position seven days ago.

Holliday replaces Dino Babers after a six year stint at Marshall University. Baber's was relieved of his duties following an 0-12 season in 2016.

Over Holliday's six seasons at Marshall, he accumulated a 48-40 record, including an 11-3 record last year that was highlighted by an AutoZone Liberty Bowl victory over Mississippi State.

This will be the first time that Keyser will have playcalling duties since 2010, when he was the offensive coordinator at Division 2 West Chester University. He left there to become the first ever head coach at Pennsylvania A&T.

Athletic Director Daniel Van Horne announced that a national search will begin immediately.

Unreal recap of the seniors, even though I've missed a couple seasons it was great to catch up on the state of the program like that. That said WOW, new coaching search??????

I'm a fan of Keyser's response after the investigation came to an end. Didn't throw his kid under the bus for making a decision a lot of people would have made in his shoes. Surprised to see him leave, but it would make for a good storyline down the road if he ends up doing well at Syracuse and getting a chance to head coach somewhere else and end up on the visitor's sideline.
