Tough loss to Boise, you were in it until late. Walker had good numbers aside from the interceptions, kind of the growing pains we expected with him though.
They're never a bad team to lose to I love my Broncos lol. Kinda cool you got them in gray while you were in blue, I've always seen gray counted as the color uniform, so the CPU wears white. See you next week at our house! Chippewas what whattttt lol

It was tough to lose that way, I tried to just rifle in that last throw that got picked and they just jumped in front of it, was a great play by the DB. Walker has had a great start to his career though, and once he cleans up the turnovers and deep ball inaccuracy he'll be a great player. Him and Cox will be a good duo for us to make a run at the MAC title in a year or 2. Brantley still here doing the grunt work at HB too, we have some talent.

I think I'm gonna play Boise again next year, have them be one of our non conference games for the next few years. 2 games have been real tight so far, some of the more fun games I've played. How come you're a Boise State guy? Thought you went to Sonoma. I've always kinda liked them myself though, unis are nice and the blue turf goes hard. I don't really have a favorite CFB team though, only thing I do is always root for Ohio State against Michigan.

I'm kinda nervous to play your CMU offense not gonna lie. We're bad defensively, like bottom 5 bad across the board pretty much. Your QB is rated highly even though he's been awful, your backs are good, and the receiving corps is solid. You guys should have a field day offensively if we don't step up on D, but your defense is very suspect. Slowish corners and a true freshman safety who ain't all that. I'm going after the defense from the jump, I'll tell you that right now. Oh well, if you guys lose Lees is a step closer to getting promoted to HC, the current one is on the hot seat.

I've been a Boise State fan since I was young, probably like 7-8. It was the blue field, saw it for the first time in the 90's and loved it, especially as a kid. I started watching them through the years and just always loved that they were the underdog. They get these hard working guys who just kinda fly under the radar, but work their butts off every down. They're the little guys who beat up on the big guys. I loved the Chris Petersen era as a whole. It's "blue collar" as they say. The fans are nice people too, I met Alexander Mattison's parents at one of their games, nice people. Also met Darian Thompson who is now on the Giants, great guy too.

I rarely use them in game because it's just too easy, although I've never tried a dynasty with them using sliders/house rules. I have started out elsewhere and taken the job at Boise before though.

I went to Sonoma State because it was in state for me, so a bit closer to home and cheaper to attend. Otherwise, I for sure would have applied to Boise State.
I'm also a UCLA guy, even get season tickets. I didn't have the grades to get in there though lol, you gotta have pretty much above a 4.0. Those are my two true schools, but I can pick a favorite in almost any conference really. I'm more of a Michigan State fan due to some close friends going there, so I don't mind Ohio State beating up on Michigan

Good luck against CMU, it would be interesting to see if they promote me, or hire from outside to get a new HC if they fire the current one. If Walker is on his game, you for sure have a good shot to burn their defense.

3 straight losses for BGSU. Yup!!!

Hyped to see A.J. Dillon getting Heisman love - the kid is a phenomenal player.

Hopefully you can get the season back on track in MAC play - you guys had a pretty difficult out of conference slate, but playing those teams tough should be a good harbinger for things to come.

It's unfortunate that a couple plays cost you against Boise but that's what happens with a young team - you need to learn how to win! Despite the dropped pick, it seems like Khari has been playing pretty well so far and I think Walker is on the verge of really turning the corner on offense.

Thanks, I think we'll do well in this one. As far as Boise that makes sense, I probably would love them too if I saw all that when I was a little kid. I don't really follow college football that heavy despite being so into NCAA, mostly cause I'm never really home on Saturdays to watch the games. So I'll just watch big games and root for Ohio State in them if they're playing. I'm not even from Ohio, idk why I like the school so much. I'm a Seahawks fan cause I ran with them in my first serious Madden franchise lol. Madden 12, so I started following them in real life a bit and that was when the LOB was getting started so I loved the swag they played with. And their jerseys are nice. That's dope you got UCLA season tickets, must be great at those games.

Your HC and QB suck. Doege just can't complete passes, and the HC's scheme isn't a good fit. Same situation as CMU, Post could be promoted soon. Your offense would fit this team a lot better than whatever nonsense this current guy is running.

As far as Westlake goes, we're better than I expected offensively, but worse defensively. Just hemmoraging yards. Can't stop the run, can't stop the pass, pass rush is decent with Mangum and Valentine returning I guess, but still not great. Gonna be real tough for us to make a bowl game this year.

Khari Anderson actually has been quite good, I'm surprised. The blown coverage was entirely me (I rotate between using the MLB, DLine and safeties), so I can't blame him for me not seeing the WR. Wish he made the pick but he's been pretty good. Bentley is back from injury but I think Anderson will hold on to that SS spot for now. Walker I have no doubt will figure it all out and be on the verge of being a superstar by the end of the year.

I think this CMU game will be a good gauge for where we're really at as a team. We have played some pretty talented teams, I think all of our non-conference opponents would win the MAC pretty comfortably. Maybe not Boise cause they need a new coach (I love how much a coach's scheme affects things, Boise are 88 or so across the board yet struggled to beat us).

Appreciate both you guys checking in... now time to kick off this CMU game!

                Y3, G5 - @ Central Michigan

                October 4th, 2015

Walker goes down as Swarm beat Chippewas 26-23

Tristan Cox sidelined -- Marble performs well to lead comeback, but offense clearly limited with him under center -- Defense bends but doesn't break, forcing 2 key turnovers

Man of The Moment: Ricardo Marble stepped in after De'Aaron Walker went down injured, leading the Swarm out of a 10 point hole to win by 3.

Mount Pleasant, MI -- Westlake State picked up their second win of the 2015 season this week, beating the Central Michigan Chippewas by a final score of 26-23. The Swarm absolutely demolished the CMU front seven on the ground, rushing for 323 yards on 55 total attempts. Trent Brantley, De'Aaron Walker, Dionte Norton, and Tristan Cox all went over 55 yards in a balanced rushing attack.

This game was very tense throughout. The Chippewas scored after a quick Swarm 3 and out, with Tony Poljan carving up the Swarm, working over the middle for chunk yardage. Before they knew it, Poljan had found Jacorey Sullivan in the end zone for 6.

The rest of the first was sloppy, with De'Aaron Walker throwing the first of his 3 first half interceptions. CMU then missed a long field goal, but forced a punt. Poljan went back to throwing darts, and the Chippewas were poised to score, until Isaac Robinson jumped an end zone pass and got his first pick since switching to free safety.

                TOP:Walker's first INT.
BOTTOM:Robinson's first INT as a free safety.

The Swarm were struggling to get anything going, until Walker completed an improbable throw to Tony Brown, who had to dive to secure a 30 yard reception. Trent Brantley later ran in a score from the 1. CMU punted, and Westlake State would tack on a field goal.

Brown has made several big plays this season, with this impressive diving grab being his latest entry.

Then Romello Ross, who went over 150 yards on the day, got started. He ran for 33 yards to give his team some momentum, and Poljan would find Keegan Coussu at the 1 on the very next play, before Ross capped the drive with a score. However, the PAT was missed and the CMU lead was just 3 points.

Lucky for the Chippewas, De'Aaron Walker was feeling generous, and served up another INT. CMU did nothing with it, and after Walker found Trent Brantley for a 33 yard gain, the Swarm were looking good. But Walker was sacked, and the Swarm went for it on 4th and 10 from the 37. They would have gotten a first down if it weren't for a Daniel Thompson drop.

CMU punted quickly though, and Westlake State had a shot to take the lead, or at least tie it up before the break. A facemask penalty followed by a nice run from Walker had them at the opposing 40 with about 15 seconds left in the half. Walker dropped back, had nothing, and panicked, overthrowing Tristan Cox on a wheel route. Corner Darius Bracy stepped in front of it, and ran 79 yards for a touchdown. 20-10, Chippewas.

But the Swarm had bigger problems than a 10 point hole. De'Aaron Walker had gone down hard, and lay on the turf as Bracy ran his interception back. Walker could barely put any weight on his right knee, and did not return to the game.

                TOP: Bracy intercepts Walker
BOTTOM: Walker lies on the field in pain as Bracy returns the INT for a score

This was a bad, bad spot to be in. CMU got the ball to start the second half, and a TD here would have seen them go up by 17 points. It looked like they'd get it too, eating up yardage before Tony Poljan had the ball punched out from behind by DT Jerell Cutler.

Cutler pokes the ball out. Manuel Kirk would recover.

Ricardo Marble, the man who Walker beat out for the starting job, struggled, missing badly on a slant on 2nd and 7. The Swarm elected to run it on 3rd down, and Marble ran a triple option to perfection, drawing in the defense before pitching the ball to Dionte Norton, who ran for a 23 yard gain. The play energized the offense, and Marble scored his first college TD a few plays later on a read option. The defense got another stop, and Marble, with some help from Norton, Brantley, and Cox, led a TD drive where he only completed 2 passes: a short throw to Cox in the flat and a 10 yard TD pass to Norton on an angle route.

But another playmaker went down: this time it was Cox. The 5'11, 214 pound freshman has lined up in the backfield and as a slot receiver, and currently has over twice as many catches (31) as second leading receiver Stanley Wayne, who has 13. Cox suffered an ankle sprain when he was dragged down at the end of a game-long 21 yard rush. He also did not return, and is expected to miss 3-4 weeks.

                Cox's ankle twists outward.

The Chippewas kicked a field goal at the start of the 4th, and the game was tied at 23. Westlake State got called for clipping on the ensuing kickoff, and started at their own 11. After a quick first down thanks to Trent Brantley, disaster struck: Marble was sacked on first down, and Dionte Norton had nowhere to go on 2nd down, forcing the Swarm into a 3rd and 18. Westlake State are very lucky there's little to no film on Ricardo Marble. The Swarm called a shot play, but Marble didn't throw the ball, seeing no spy, and ran for 20 yards and a huge first down. The Swarm went on a long drive and ended up kicking a field goal to go up 26-23. The score would stay that way.

CMU got called for clipping on this kickoff, and they started at their own 3. They went 3 and out, and Westlake State got the ball at the 39 after a decent punt return. They were able to get a couple first downs, and took a well deserved knee to win the game.

But this loss raises questions. Firstly, is there now going to be another QB battle? Marble was excellent as a game manager and was undeniably clutch today, whereas if Walker stays in the game, Westlake State likely lose. But the sky is the limit for Walker, whereas Marble is clearly very limited. Right tackle Joe Edwards dislocated his shoulder in this game and is expected to miss 4-6 weeks. He's the Swarm's best offensive lineman. Marble's job was made tougher.

Second, does Walker come back this year? An MRI revealed he tore his lateral meniscus, and has a grade 1 ACL sprain. He's slated to be out anywhere from 4-6 weeks, and the team may elect to shut him down. That's bad for a young player who's number 1 weakness is that he's unpolished and inexperienced.

Third, can Marble win games with minimal throwing? CMU is one of the MAC's worse teams, and their defense was caught off guard that Marble was even playing. Now there's tape on him, and teams will know to stack up against the run. With this defense being so iffy, the offense HAS to put up points. Corner Sean Louis, who's been locking down wideouts, left with a concussion and will be out for a game or 2.

De'Aaron Walker spoke to us postgame, and he had strong words as he expressed his concern that CMU was targeting players.

Although Edwards' actual injury was "will return soon", I just decided to up the challenge cause even with their injury ratings in the teens, my OL get hurt maybe 2-3 times a year.

You may have won the game but we made sure you paid the price [emoji23] must have been really physical out there! Nice job snagging win #2, even if it was over my squad...on my turf lol. Hopefully Marble can fill in well while Walker is out, it seems there’s a good shot at .500 again

There's definitely a shot at a bowl game this year. I've been surprised with how well our offense has done so far. Granted, the one power 5 school we played destroyed us, but that team is stacked. Marble is very limited. Not gonna stretch out the defense and lacks the velocity to really throw into tight windows. Solid QB, but our offense is gonna shift to more of a running attack for now. I really thought you guys were gonna beat us, you had us at 3rd and 18 late and Marble was not throwing for a first... very lucky there was no spy.

Idk what is going on with your squad man, they were hitting so hard it was ridiculous. Walker was getting lit up, no surprise he ends up getting hurt. He's gonna miss 3-4 more games, so the play of Ricardo Marble will really determine how this season goes. I don't want to play McKinley because he just isn't ready, and Cummings is horrible so Marble is all we've got right now. Should do alright though, the MAC is a very weak conference. Just played Ball State and they were nowhere near as good as last year.

                      Preciate you checking in bro.

                        Y3, G6-7

Note: Ok so here's the deal for why I'm doing a lazier, double recap. I lost the pictures for the Ball State game, mistakenly deleted them before I actually uploaded them to Imgur. Didn't want to do a full article recap without pics. I didn't really like playing this one either, was a sloppy, frustrating mess of a game. UMass was the most boring game I've played since LSU shut me out back in season 1. Again, just bad from both sides. I didn't feel like doing a full article for both of these and I likely would have just not done it for a while, I want to keep advancing and hopefully start season 4 by the end of August, just before I go back to school. I don't really like doing recaps like this, and this is hopefully the last time I ever do one like this.

I can say with 100% certainty that presentation will be expanding to full previews and national recaps by season 5 at the very latest. School and basketball will be back in full swing and I won't be able to get a game out every day like I've been doing. That will allow me to have more filler in between games so I can go 2-3 days between games and not have the thread just totally dead. Not sure how much of season 4 will be done before I go back to school. I have all my templates ready to go, just don't use them right now for the sake of advancing the dynasty and getting into a rhythm, getting the team to where it feels like it's truly "mine". I'll definitely bust them out for a bowl game though. Starting to really get into this with Walker coming in this year. I also have a Madden CFM up and running, so I'll start showing that after this season. We're a ways away from having any NFL alumni. Louis might sneak in, but he's a locker room distraction who's up and down anyway.

Great things are coming, I intend on having this dynasty stick around for a while. Part 1 and 2 didn't work out, but The Reboot is gonna be legendary when it's all said and done, trust me. And since I went off on this little tangent let me thank all those who are following along so far, means a lot to me that people are interested in following this report.

Anyway, without further ado, let's get to these 2 games.

                        G6 vs Ball State - L 30-40

So Ricardo Marble went for 328 on 23/36 passing, 3 TD, INT. He was actually not good throwing the ball. 151 of those yards came on 3 plays: A 66 yard TD that was a well placed throw about 20 yards downfield, but the TD was all Calvin Foster, who absolutely Mossed a DB. Wish I had the damn pictures, was such a sick play. Next one, a 60 yard TD to Stanley Wayne on a blown assignment. Last one, a 25 yard completion to Foster when it was already over. He was solid, but the box score makes him look incredible. He also had 2 key fumbles that killed good drives, including one at the 10. That always pisses me off though, QBs fumble in the most ridiculous ways in NCAA 14 at times.

Ball State started very strong, with a quick TD drive to open the game. We would score later in the 1st with Marble completing a nice 20 yard pass to Stanley Wayne for the TD. After a Malik Dunner drop on 3rd and 5, a 27 yard run from Marble set up a field goal. Ball State got a stop, and scored as Drew Plitt just carved up our defense and needed just 4 plays to go 81 yards. Plitt scored himself on the next BSU drive with a 13 yard scramble. Then Calvin Foster looked like he was actually Calvin Johnson in disguise as he elevated and broke a midair tackle to score. (Seriously, such a great play, wish I could show you guys) A couple drives later, Stanley Wayne got open after a safety blew his assignment (same guy who Foster destroyed, really not his day lol), and he went 60 yards for a score. Grant Marquardt pulled out his signature PAT off the upright, can't wait for our new kicker. So at this point, it's 23-21, and that was the halftime score.

Ricardo Marble was picked off by 5 star freshman Adam Burnette to start the second half. Plitt found Justin Gibbs, who had 114 yards on just 5 grabs, for 37 yards, and Malik Dunner ran it in from the 3 on the next play. No one else scored until the Cardinals scored again a couple minutes into the 4th to make it 37-23. Westlake State would score, but ultimately couldn't get the ball back, and Ball State kicked a field goal to win it 40-30.

                        G7 @ UMass - W 28-21

Marble can't really throw... but he sure can run

Ricardo Marble barely had more passing yards than rushing yards in this game, completed 44% of his throws, and the Swarm still won more comfortably than the scoreline shows. As a matter of fact, Marble was 1/11 with a pick at the end of the first quarter, and we were still up 7-3.

UMass threw picks on their first 2 offensive plays, with Arnold Godfrey and Darnell Woods each getting their first picks on the year. Despite that, we had 7 points to show for our defensive effort, as Grant Marquardt, to absolutely no one's surprised, hooked a 34 yard kick to the right.

This game was just sloppy. UMass missed 3 field goals in the first half, including an 18 yarder. This game also marked the return of troublemaking WR Thomas Green, and he was unimpressive. 4 grabs for 55 yards, but 3 drops, including a wide open deep ball at the end of the first half that would have seen him score a long TD.

Our run game was great in spurts, but we were either getting 7-8 yards a pop or getting stuffed. Still, we ran for 262 yards and 4 scores on 54 attempts as a team.

Ricardo Marble ran well, and a 38 yard rushing score from him a few seconds into the 4th put us up 28-13. UMass returned a punt for a score, and got the 2 points, so we were up by a score with 3 minutes to go. We ran out the clock with a couple first downs for a win that gets us halfway to being bowl eligible.

2 games till Walker gets back... I'll definitely limit him at first though, maybe knock a few points off his athletic attributes temporarily.

I will have a recruiting post up before the next game recap. I have it written up, just need to do the little player profiles with the headshots. Sidenote, I scheduled a bunch of visits for week 9 when I saw we had Akron at home... they're 5-1 and I have 8 guys visiting lol. I'm not sure why I thought they were bad, they killed us last year and still have that same QB. A loss here could really sink us in recruiting and slow the ascent of this team. We may not make a bowl this year, but not making one next year would raise some real questions.

Westlake State Swarm Football Staff Communications

                          From: Head Scout Jason Berry

                          To: Head Coach Dion Barkley

                          Cc: Recruiting

Hey Coach. Got some prospects here for you.

Jason Bowser is probably the most intriguing guy I have. At 6'3, 194, he's listed as a free safety, but I think he could replace Arnold Godfrey at OLB, or challenge Khari at SS. He's slower than we like our safeties, but man can this guy hit. And he gets off blocks well to stuff the run. He's good at man and press coverage too, and if we have him cover tight ends, speed won't be too big of an issue, it'll be whether he can bulk up enough. He lacks zone ability and general football IQ as of right now, he jumps at everything and needs film badly. He's verbally committed and should sign on his visit this week.

There's a good OLB who I think could start from day 1. That's Mason Richardson. 6'2, 231 from Ashland, OH, this man is just fundamentally sound. Better tackler than most of our guys right now, can rush the passer and stop the run. Problem is, he's slow and can't cover. He would likely shift inside. Limited upside, but he will probably be a 4 year starter. He's slightly favoring Bowling Green right now.

2 guys who can contribute at corner: Al Williams and Paris Robinson. Williams is a JUCO guy, he's real underrated. Great speed, can cover and is a willing, if not very good tackler. Robinson is not very fast, but is built like a running back at 5'10, 209. He's very good off the line and can jam guys up, but downfield he'll have to rely on safety help.

ATH Zach Bonner will be a DT for us, good athlete who can rush the QB. Unfortunately, that's all he really does. Doesn't get off blocks well and is a horrible tackler for a guy that's 6'3, 280. Will need a year to gain some mass so he doesn't get pushed around down there. We have a verbal from him.

There is a ton of JUCO talent. Guys that just want to go somewhere they can play and get seen because they only have 2 years for the most part. Looking at schools in Mississippi and Kansas, I got some really good players for you. JUCO G Brandon Galloway. He's a junior out of Bowling Green via EMCC, and he's a stud. Big, strong, and can do anything we need blocking-wise. Solid athlete. This isn't a flashy pickup, I don't normally have 2 star guards at the top of my board, but our line is looking very shaky. His linemate Mike Motley is good too, he's a sophomore, another Ohio kid. We have verbal commitments from both of these guys as of right now.

Note: Yeah, I made a mistake with Motley's profile, but he is a sophomore (I'm pretty sure, not by my Xbox as I write this)

Ahmed Heath is a guard for Dodge City in Kansas, but I see him as our starting LT next year. 6'7, 312, strong as hell, athletic, and a really really good blocker. I think he could be NFL talent, honestly.

We also need DTs and Marcin Nirmal, from Independence CC, is a monster. 6'2, 308, great at getting into the backfield and disrupting plays. He's actually from Poland, born in Poznan and he came to the States a few years ago. Wrestled, actually did not play any football, then went to Indy after a scout saw him in the stands at his high school's game. He took some persuading, but he's a natural.

One more JUCO guy: HB/FB Tyndall Thomas. This guy reminds me of Mike Tolbert. He's 5'8, 242. Not very fast at all, but super powerful and can block. We need a good 3rd back for next year with Norton leaving, so he should contribute right away. He's also only a sophomore.

All of these JUCO guys are very underrated in my eyes, and recruitment is pretty wide open. This class could be the foundation for a very good 2-3 years that gets this program some recognition that we can parlay into recruiting interest. We get all these JUCO guys, we have a very good team next year that challenges for the MAC title. Hell, we might still challenge for that this year, 2-1 in conference so far. We split these next 2 games, we're in a good spot for when De'Aaron comes back.

Tough loss to Ball State, but a good bounce back against UMass for win #3! Marble was less than stellar through the air, but his legs were a key it seems. At least he has that ability, it has maintained the scoring threat of your offense for sure.

I think Bowser would be a good pickup if he moves to backer. I was actually thinking that looking at his scouting ratings, then saw that your lead scout said the same thing lol. Weak in coverage, but could wreak havoc at LB with that kind of speed. He would need to bulk up though.

Richardson looks OK, kinda slow for a backer, could possibly wind up as a DE.

As always, I love the JUCO guys, they're usually good for an immediate impact.

Thanks bro. We really needed that UMass win, as I think we're probably going to split Marble's last 2 starts. Walker is playing as soon as he's cleared, unless Marble shows out big time. Gonna play the Akron game as soon as I get home, just went out to the gym and the library.

Soon as I saw Bowser I thought "this guy's going to linebacker". Not sure why on earth he was a FS. Once he gets the progression and puts on weight in that redshirt year he should be good. I'm personally hoping for him to be my "gem" this year. I always do 1 gem, 2 busts for my incoming class, gem will get anywhere from +3 to +8 overall. So he gets that, he's an instant starter most likely. Richardson is a very solid player, his pass rush moves are in the high 70s as well so I might make him a DE. We lose our starting end Jamal Mangum after this season so I might do that. If he was like an 82 speed or so he'd be so good.

JUCO guys are always great. Should bolster the line a lot, our line sucks right now.

                                Y3, G8 - vs Akron

I lost this entire recap when I went to preview it, took me 40 minutes to type it up. If the quality of this article is bad, that's why. F--k my laptop. Shame cause it was a great game.

                                October 25th, 2015

Swarm outlast Akron in 45-41 shootout

Marble continues to make plays -- Kirk lost with high ankle sprain -- Senior Wayne benched after 3 first half drops

Ricardo Marble led the team to another win

Westlake, OH -- All he does is win? Ricardo Marble is now 3-1 in his college career after leading Westlake State to a 45-41 win over the Akron Zips. The win moves the Swarm into a tie for the MAC East lead with 6-2 Buffalo. That game, which coincides with De'Aaron Walker's likely return, will likely decide who goes to Ford Field come conference championship week.

Akron kicked a field goal to open the game, then scored again after a Swarm punt. The punt was actually downed at the 4, but on what was supposed to be a Cover 2 blitz, Andre Williams found himself wide open deep, and went 64 yards before Darnell Woods chased him down. Akron scored a couple plays later, but the Swarm would comeback with a score of their own. And Grant Marquardt... you know the rest. Akron would score again on a 56 yard pass to Dustin Burkhart after Bo Armstrong tried to get his hand in front of a pass and whiffed badly. 17-6 Zips after 1.

There's a reason Armstrong is so low on the depth chart.

The second quarter was insane. 39 combined points, and it ended in a 31-31 tie. Westlake State kicked a 30 yard field goal, then Sean Louis jumped a screen for a pick 6. Burkhart got a huge gain on the next drive after he made Isaac Robinson miss on a bubble screen, but the Zips missed a long field goal.

Sean Louis finally gets his first pick of the season

Westlake State were struggling offensively, and faced a 3rd and long. Ricardo Marble threw up a prayer, and Thomas Green answered it, making a great grab downfield for a 35 yard pickup, leading to a Swarm score. After that, there were about 3 minutes to go in the quarter, and we saw 3 scores. Kato Nelson ran for 34 yards and set up an Akron TD, then Marble threw up another deep ball that was misjudged by an Akron DB and caught by Daniel Thompson for 48 yards. Tony Brown caught a ball over the middle on the very next play and outran the Zips for a 31 yard score.

This Thomas Green grab breathed life into the offense.

Akron needed just 2 plays to score, with Keyondre White catching a screen for 59 yards after Robinson whiffed on another tackle. The Zips had the nerve to run the exact same play again, and this time it was backup Jemarulin Suggs catching the ball, and he tiptoed up the sideline for a 16 yard score. A 42 yard run from Ricardo Marble gave the Swarm a shot at another score, but no dice. 31 all at the half.

Westlake State scored again after a punt, then Sean Louis picked off a deep ball to give the Swarm a shot at going up by 2 scores. But Marble threw a pick of his own, and the Zips scored. Westlake State came back with yet another big play, as Akron lost Tony Brown, and a 10 yard dumpoff turned into a 48 yard score.

                                Brown was all alone.

After that, this shootout suddenly became a cagey, defensive game. Akron went 3 and out, then forced Westlake State into a long field goal miss, before they kicked a field goal of their own. Westlake State were forced to punt, and the punt was blocked, giving Akron the ball at the Swarm 34. Kato Nelson ran for 17 yards, completed a pass for 14 more, and the Zips were knocking on the door. But at the 6, God only knows why, Akron dialed up a pass play. It was a levels concept, and Isaac Robinson read Nelson's eyes all the way, picking off the ball in the corner of the endzone.

Robinson made up for those missed tackles here.

One first down would end it, but the Swarm couldn't get it. They punted, but lucky for them, it was muffed, and they recovered. Ballgame.

Westlake State suffered a big blow in this game: OLB Manuel Kirk, the team's second-leading tackler, went down with an ankle injury, and had to be helped off. He didn't return, and it's suspected he suffered a high ankle sprain. He may miss the rest of the regular season.

Westlake State will travel to Kent to face off with 3-4 (2-2) Kent State.
