Thanks R1zzo...for me, the main concern has to be Rudy Floyd and Ray Parrish. We've had problems with running backs all year long, and Floyd has given us some problems in the past. They also have some decent speed at wide receiver, including Ryan Jean's little brother, Dan Jean.

As you said, hopefully we can protect the ball, prevent big plays, and come out of here with a victory along with the SEC West crown!

Should be a good one. I may be a little rusty for this game. Hopefully the pressure of what's at stake doesn't get to us.

After what happened against Kentucky a few weeks back, I take nothing for granted anymore, especially when going against a team with a talented running back.

It would be nice to put these guys away early, but outside of the Bama game, we have had some woes here lately with stomping lesser teams. This is a good Green Wave team, but it is admittedly flawed and has legitamte weaknesses that could spell an 'L' in any game we play. And you also know as well as anyone that something seems to "just happen" sometimes to this dome team when we play outside during the cold weather months.

I must admit that I am a bit disappointed with how some of the teams in the SEC have regressed, but we also must keep in mind that this is the year 2026. The entire landscape of college football could/likely will be different 8 years from now in real life, and I just pretend that that's what has happened here.

That said, things still feel extremely balanced. It seems that most of the nation is just on a much different curve now than the out-of-the-box game we started with, but I couldn't be happier with the game results and things feel as realistic as ever before in this dynasty.

No question - just as I was telling Cheese, we cannot take this team lightly or else we could find ourselves in another 55-52 double overtime slugfest like the one against the Wildcats or the 38-31 overtime loss Ole Miss pinned on us back in 2020.

We absolutely must get an early stop and not let Floyd get rolling. If he runs well early and gets momentum and that home crowd behind them, we could see what happened six years ago in Oxford happen again, and that was an even better Tulane team than the one I have today.

You guys are trying very hard to jinx my squad lol

I am just going to take this thing one possession at a time. No win is guaranteed anymore and I am no longer going into games expecting blowouts. They're a team that is one win away from bowl eligibility, they have a good running back, they're at home, it'll probably be chilly weather, and to top it off, I am a little rusty on the sticks. I am not penciling this one in as a 'W'...we will have to earn it.

I hope you're right. I hope we win the toss because I think an early touchdown drive could cause them to lay down early. QB Jimmy McBride tore them a new one in last year's meeting, and with RB Anthony Brown out, we may need him to put on another show in this one.

Score early, get the crowd out of it early, and play smart football, and we should get out of here with a win and an SEC West title while also denying Deuce and the Crimson Tide a shot at a third straight SEC championship. Coach Geezy also needs this one badly with his contract set to expire and the lack of recent championship success.

Regardless of Ole Miss' recent record and who they do or don't have.. I would just like to state that Kentucky gave our Wave problems last year, and Kentucky was worse than Ole Miss. Playing at home and one win away from bowl eligibility, Ole Miss has A LOT to play for and could come out extra motivated as a result - they know they're running out of chances. Good luck!
    I appreciate it man.

You hit the nail on the head here. I'm looking at this game as if it is going to be a dogfight for all the reasons you've stated.

Well, keep in mind that Mississippi St. is in Conference USA now. Tulane has essentially taken the Bulldogs' place on the schedule, which is why we now play in the Thursday, Egg Bowl slot.

Thanks fellas...after what felt like a LONG three week wait, it is FINALLY time to turn the XBOX back on to get this game in and hopefully get back to Atlanta for the first time in years!

Game 11, Year 17 (2026 season): #16 Tulane Green Wave at Ole Miss Rebels

              #16 52 -- 8-3 (7-1)
              N/R 35 -- 5-6 (2-6)

REBEL KILLER: QB Jimmy McBride has now thrown for a combined 864 yards and 11 touchdowns in his last two games versus Ole Miss.

#16 Tulane gets second half offensive explosion in 52-35 victory over Ole Miss, catapults themselves into the SEC Championship Game and a chance to win a conference title for the first time in five years | McBride's career-high 446 passing yards and 6 touchdowns help guide Green Wave to first SEC West division title since 2023 | RB Jenkins, WR Lawson both also star as Wave pulls away from a pesky Rebels squad in fourth quarter | Team will host undefeated arch rival Southern Miss next week at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome hoping to avenge previous year's loss to the Golden Eagles once again

Oxford, MS -- #16 Tulane came into Thursday afternoon's contest with unranked Ole Miss with a simple task - if they win, they clinch the SEC West division for the first time since 2023, however if they lose, two-time defending SEC & national champion Alabama would win the division. With their destiny in their own hands, despite an up-and-down first two and a half quarters, the Green Wave's second half scoring flurry helped put away a very-game Rebels squad for a 52-35 shootout victory at frigid Oxford. Wave redshirt junior QB Jimmy McBride threw for 446 yards and 6 touchdowns, both career-highs, while junior WR Adam Lawson hauled in 3 of those touchdown receptions, as the team halted its two-game losing skid and clinched a berth in the 2026 SEC Championship Game.

As is typical, WR Adam Lawson was QB Jimmy McBride's favorite receiver on Saturday, as the junior hauled in 5 receptions for 164 yards and 3 scores, including this career-long 90-yard touchdown reception late in the third quarter.

The Wave got out to a hot start, going on a 10-play 74-yard drive that culminated with a 4-yard touchdown pass from McBride to reserve redshirt junior TE Danny Bailey to start the game. And McBride and Lawson's first scoring hookup, from 18 yards out, gave their team a 14-0 first quarter advantage.

Despite the early deficit, Ole Miss would not fold however. Redshirt junior QB Andre Clemons' second quarter touchdown passes to WR Alvin Rawls and FB Rodney Ward put them right back into the game, and the first half would eventually end with Tulane up just 17-14.

The Rebels would take their first and only lead of the game early in the third quarter when RB Rudy Floyd scored from 1-yard out on the first possession of the second half, giving his team a 21-17 advantage - the score was aided by a fumble by Wave sophomore MLB Rasheed Ward following an interception near the goal line that Ole Miss recovered. Floyd finished the contest with 20 carries for 122 yards and his team looked to be set to roll with all of the momentum, however that's when the Green Wave's aforementioned scoring frenzy began.

A few possessions after Floyd's score, McBride's 43-yard touchdown throw to TE Drew Robinson gave Tulane the lead back, making the score 24-21. Then, two possessions later following an Ole Miss punt, McBride's season-long 90-yard touchdown strike to Lawson put the Wave ahead 31-21 late in the third quarter, though the Wave was not out of the woods just yet.

Ole Miss quickly put themselves right back in the game as Clemons would connect with Ward again for a 13-yard touchdown, cutting the Rebels' deficit to 31-28 early in the fourth quarter. Clemons finished the game 23 of 38 for 354 yards with 3 touchdowns, however on this day, that was nowhere near the type of performance necessary to overcome McBride's and the Wave's prolific day offensively.

Playing in place of injured starting RB Anthony Brown, who missed the game with a shoulder injury, true freshman RB Teddy Jenkins finished with a career-high 134 rushing yards, including this back-breaking 60-yard touchdown run that made the score 38-28 early in the fourth quarter.
"We huddled up on the sideline as a team and I told them that the prize is right in front of us, and it is up to us to go get it," said Tulane 17th year head coach D. Geezy, whose team has not won an SEC title since 2021.

A 60-yard touchdown run by true freshman RB Teddy Jenkins, playing in place of injured starter Anthony Brown, increased his team's lead to 38-28. Then, following an interception on a deep throw by CB J.T. Hills, McBride and Lawson's third touchdown connection of the day put the Wave up 45-28.

Ole Miss (5-6) once again would not go away, as backup RB Ray Parrish's 9-yard touchdown run cut the Rebels' deficit back down to 45-35 with 3:32 remaining. However, McBride's sixth touchdown pass of the game, this time on a perfectly-executed screen pass to RB Michael Brown Jr. from 75 yards away, put the game away for good, making the score 52-35 with under two minutes to go, setting up Tulane with an opportunity to finally put their SEC title drought to bed.

"It certainly wasn't as clean of a win as you'd hope it to be, but we did what we needed to do; the offense definitely brought its 'A' game, the defense made plays when they needed to, and we've now put ourselves in position to win the SEC."

"Hats off to this team, the coaches, the trainers, and the fans. We no longer take this accomplishment for granted, and this opportunity was well-earned."

The win for Tulane clinches them a spot in the SEC Championship Game in Atlanta, where they will face Florida in a rematch of their last title game opportunity, which came in 2023. The eventual national champion Gators blew out the Green Wave that evening 36-17, and the team has not been back to Atlanta since. The game will mark the fourth time the two schools have met with a conference title on the line in the past decade.

First things first however, as the Green Wave will first take on arch rival Southern Miss next week at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome. The Golden Eagles defeated the Wave 49-27 last season in Hattiesburg, marking the 9th straight season in which the home team in the annual series has won. Coach Geezy hopes the trend will continue for one more year.

"We hate them, they hate us, they're undefeated, and we want to ruin their season, again," said Geezy of his school's former Conference USA bretheren. "We are going to have our work cut out and we must bring our best effort, because as they've shown us time and time again, they're a legit program that could defeat anybody on any given Saturday, and they have beaten us four times here in the past 7 years, including last year."

QB Jimmy McBride celebrates alongside FB J.J. Williams (#22) and RB Michael Brown Jr. (#10) following the game's final kneel-down.

Redshirt junior Jimmy McBride is enjoying one of the finest seasons Tulane has seen at quarterback in a long time, having thrown 29 touchdowns compared to just 7 interceptions coming into Thursday's game.

QB Andre Clemons and the Rebels came into Thursday afternoon hoping to earn capture their sixth win this season and earn a trip to a bowl game for the first time since 2024.

McBride and the Wave got out to a red-hot start, and here he celebrates on the sideline with teammates following a 10-play game-opening touchdown drive.

As has been the case most of this season, the Wave had problems defending against the run as Ole Miss RB Rudy Floyd finished with 122 yards on 20 carries, including a 1-yard touchdown that gave the Rebels a 21-17 third quarter lead.

Pic 1 of 2: Following a deep pass reception, Wave sophomore TE Drew Robinson spun past CB Trenton Foster for a 43-yard touchdown that put the Wave back ahead at 24-21 in the third quarter.

Pic 2 of 2: McBride jumped in the air in jubilation following Robinson's long score.

Ole Miss QB Andre Clemons had one of his best performances to-date, throwing for 354 yards and 3 touchdowns, however his 3 interceptions spelled doomed for the Rebels.

With his team already up 38-28, Green Wave CB J.T. Hills hauled in this fourth quarter interception, setting the Wave up with an opportunity to try to pull away.

Wide receivers Grant Brady (#11) and Adam Lawson (#13) back-bumped each other following Lawson's 28-yard fourth quarter touchdown that put the Wave ahead 45-28 with less than five minutes remaining.

Ole Miss WR Alvin Rawls got the best of the Green Wave secondary for most of the afternoon, finishing with a game-high 6 receptions that went for 112 yards and a score.

Pic 1 of 2: As they've done so well over the past few years, QB Jimmy McBride hit RB Michael Brown Jr. on a screen pass with blockers in front.

Pic 2 of 2: After hauling in the reception, Brown Jr. turned it up-field, juked past one defender and spun past another on his way to a game-clinching 75-yard score that gave Tulane a 52-35 advantage with 1:38 remaining.

It was no surprise that McBride won Player of the Game honors after finishing with 446 passing yards and a 6 touchdown passes, both career-highs.

Ole Miss players were all-class following their defeat and congratulated Green Wave members following their SEC West division-clinching win.

Great win there, good job not letting Ole Miss steal it away. Didn't realize you guys were gonna be able to play for an SEC title, been a while but a conference title could be the spark that sees Tulane return to the top.

It's so cool how Southern Miss has become a power, seems like they're ranked every year.

My word. Not a dominant defensive performance, but it looked like it was a fun game to play. 446 yards, scores of 90 and 75. Great job with the running game. Great job getting takeaways.

                    Winning streak! Let's go.

Thanks brother - yeah everything was on the line in this one, and Ole Miss certainly did not make it easy for us. This was a very fun win and I believe you're right; a conference title run here sets us up nicely for 2027.

                      Winning streak! Let's go.

Yeah it really was fun. It had moments where things were in doubt, but we made enough big plays in the end to pull away from a team that really felt like it actually was playing for a bowl bid. Very fun win.

If Jimmy keeps playing like this, I may have to start worrying about him bolting for the NFL - The boy was on fire!

Not only that - but you could completely deflate the Eagles and ruin their perfect season. Great job buddy!
Haha, yes. When Ole Miss took the lead in the third quarter, I said out loud to myself "damn man, not again." Thankfully, we put it together and came away with a huge win. No telling what the vibe around Geezy's contract extension talks would be like had we blown that one.

This Southern Miss game is huge for so many reasons - bragging rights, a chance to ruin their perfect season and BCS bid, a chance to put ourselves in great position to get double-digit wins, a chance to possibly finish in the Top 10, momentum going into the SEC title game, and lastly, one more feather in Coach Geezy's hat as he finishes the final year of his contract.

Way to bounce back. McBride and the entire offense WENT OFF. 6 touchdown passes, over 400 yards passing...and STILL a 100+ yard rusher! Insane!

Very good way to get yourself into the Conference Championship game, this is a big opportunity! Take the SEC!

Nice win, good to see the offense meshing going into Championship week. Plus, like coach said, the defense made the plays they needed to make to keep the Wave in a position to win.

Knocking off So Miss would be oh so sweet. If you can’t play to be in the Natty, you may as well take away someone else’s chance (which at this point, that seems like all it is)!

Thanks man...McBride was in the zone in this game; hopefully he can continue the pace. We're going to need it against this USM squad and then again against Florida. Both games set up to be potential shootouts.

Southern Miss still has a very good shot, looking at the way the schedules lay out. This won't be the first time we've beaten them from the ranks of the unbeatens at the end of the year. It's remarkable just how potent that team has stayed despite being in the lowly Conference USA.

This season has been a fun ride overall, and these last three games should be very entertaining and fun to play while also potentially setting us up nicely for a national title run in 2027!

Thanks, R1zzo. Things got a little dicey there about midway through the game, but thankfully we were able to turn it on when it mattered.
