MLB the show 19 or BUST

I'm to the point to where no matter how much I love baseball if mlb 19 isn't better than 18 in every aspect I'm not buying anymore. They come out with patches to fix things and they end up breaking other things. In the last 3 games I've played in 18 I've had a routine fly ball go thru my outfielder's waist and go to the wall be cuz there was no triggered animation that the outfielder's have to reach up with there glove and catch the ball. I've also hate my centerfielder who had 89 speed jog over to a fly ball over even a grounder and the ball gets past him to the wall. Not to mention its been several years since the challenge call option was put in and still no option to challenge at any other base but first, unacceptable. I've had several instances where I stole second base and on replay I was safe cuz the fielders glove never even touched me but I was called out. Had that same thing happen at 3rd and at home plate. They need to stop focusing so much on Diamond Dynasty and start focusing more on the true fundamentals of the game of baseball. Also maybe pay a little more love to franchise mode as well. U see more companies implement the create a draft class feature but unfortunately SDS is more catered to the online user. I truly miss how games were made 10 -20 years ago. Also SDS please give the AI the ability to challenge plays.

    Agreed 100%!

MLB The Show is getting stale. I need to see new and fresh ideas injected into the game. Give us "franchise" players some love and go all out on this mode for MLB 19. I could care less about Diamond Dynasty. Focus on the game play and presentation as well. If I do not see any substantial improvements this might very well be the last MLB The Show baseball game I purchase.

MLB 18 was probably the last sports game I play on release, RttS was kind of disappointing to me and the vanilla approach to Franchise will make me wait until the jury is out. I also would love to see animations improve specially in the batter's box, there is just too much jank and it has been an eye sore to me since I started getting back into the series several years ago.

The animation system in the game is broken, flat out broken. They can say all they want about improved tagging and improved hitting, but if the animations aren't DRAMATICALLY improved, these legacy issues will continue to pop up.

I have to agree I love MLB The Show but lets be real here its almost exactly the same year after year! And there are lot of different reasons for this but for me the main ones are the graphics and audio!

Too my eyes and ears MLB The Show 18 on PS4 Pro is not even close to a night and day difference then it was on PS2!

Yes it is better but not where it needs to be at this point!

And I do not expect MLB The Show to look that much better on the PS5 either when that is released in a year or 2.

Agreed. Seems like a lot of people are in the same boat as me where not enough life has been added to franchise mode to keep me wanting to play the game. I don't have much faith in it changing either with the DD market being more desirable.

Agreed 100%, the lack of any attention to Franchise mode and legacy issues is frustrating. If it's ignored as has been the past few years as well as with patches/updates (although they release DD content all of the time) - I'm not buying.

After skipping '18 completely, I really hope they give me a good reason (or several) to get back on the bus. If nothing else, I've proven to myself that I can skip the game if I feel underwhelmed. I was afraid I'd cave at some point during the summer, but nope. Hoping it was just a one year hiatus tho

I stopped playing last years in in early April and didn't buy at all this year. Used to be an automatic buy. I feel the same, stale.

I like 18 and think its a good game. Of course it has its problems but what game doesnt. However I dont think I will buy 19 at release unless something big changes. Game feels too stale and the same every year. I just cant justify the 60 purchase when I can just play 18. Every year the game feels a little different for the first couple of weeks then its the same and a couple of bugs make it a 7/10 experience.

Franchise mode is a joke. The show likes to pride itself on being realistic and franchise is still the exact same. How about we start with realistic contacts and a half decent trade logic?

Re: MLB the show 19 or BUST

SCEA can’t win on this, but honestly, I’d prefer they use the model they have the last 10-15 years, as opposed to what EA does.

There’s kind of two schools of thought on sports games development. For The Show they created a solid base game and have built on it year after year, assuring incremental changes and improvements. That’s the way I like it, because we know the game is solid and it will be every year. But that means we’re never going to be, “wowed,” by any major changes.

Look at Madden, when a new console comes out they completely tear the game down, re-do the engine, everything. They re-write it from scratch and the game is terrible for 3-4 years and slowly gets better. Right about the time the game is back to being good, they start the process all over, and the game sucks again.

For me, I’ll take small improvements, year in and year out, on a game that’s exceptional.

I don’t disagree that The Show has flaws. And I’m almost entirely just an offline franchise guy, so I’m aggravated as anyone that franchise mode gets neglected pretty much every year, but at the end of the day, The Show is the best baseball game (and arguably the best sports game) I’ve ever played. And to be honest it’s not really very close.

Some disagree with me, but I think Sony should release 2 editions of the game. One for online and offline franchise and the other for Diamond Dynasty, Road to the Show, etc. That's a lot of data with all these features on one disc. Myself, I only play franchise, so the other features are a complete waste to me. I believe if less is put on the discs, you'd see patches become much more effective and you wouldn't see Peter being robbed to pay Paul. Sony could sell these editions individually or as bundle packs at prices where they wouldn't lose money. If nothing else, a perfect review or close to it as a result of being able to add many more new features at release would bring back customers who decided not to buy 2017 and 2018.

I wish SCEA would put out a poll for user feedback and ask which game mode/game play would us, the buyers, like to see improvements on.

I can almost guarantee offline franchise would get the most votes.

Sony tracks what modes are played the most. First in Diamond Dynasty, then Road to The Show, and then Franchise.

So while it might seem like the most requested improvement would be for franchise, the fact that it’s only the third most-played mode suggests that might not be the case. I think it’s a given that no matter what mode we play, we want it improved more than the others we don’t. I’ve never played Diamond Dynasty, and at this point I never will out of principle (that it takes away from offline franchise), but I’m guessing the people that play Diamond Dynasty want it improved in certain ways just the same way those of us that play franchise want it improved. But there’s far, far more people that play Diamond Dynasty so that’s where their focus will continue to be, unfortunately.

I think a lot of people may have forgotten or might just not know, but SCEA literally only has one developer that works on franchise mode each year. One guy. That’s it. It’s no wonder improvements are incremental each year.

Until SCEA can figure out a way to make more money on franchise mode, it will continue to get neglected.
