FT Dynasty NBA2k20 Fictional Draft Classes

    Hey everyone,

I'm back again making fictional draft classes for NBA 2k20 for the PS4. Last year, I was inspired by the great work of JB, so I decided to make my own as well and I am doing it again this year. If you have not looked at his classes, take a look. They are awesome. Below is a link to his fictional draft classes.

The classes I have made are very similar to his in the sense that they will have studs, busts, solid role players, gems, guys who never live up to their potential, etc. I understand how peak age creates all of these, so no need to worry about having guys into their late 30's performing at an All-Star level like the default 2k rosters do.

When a class is finished, I will attach a scouting report for my classes. It provides some scouting, some back story. I did not want to only do scouting and take away from the in-season scouting you will do. The scouting reports are in the same format JB uses in his classes.

Please let me know how you think the classes are. I am open to all criticism because I am just trying to make the game more enjoyable for everyone else. Let me know if I need to tweak anything at all or if you found something weird. Lastly, I would love to hear about how these guys are doing in your MyLeague, so once you use them, let me know!

Class 5 and 6 are the most detailed as far as time and effort put in, as well as scouting in the thread. This is how I will do all my future classes.

For all of the classes, I would go through and manually sign all round 2 rookies to contracts to make sure that sleepers can fully develop.

Draft class 3 and 4 have been moved to a different online ID. jayyhesi.

Re: FT Dynasty NBA2k20 Fictional Draft Classes

Class 1 is in the process of being finished, but in the meantime, I thought I would give you guys a preview of some of the potential top picks.

Freshman SF Raymar Franklin is one of the best players in this years draft. Scouts believe he is a better offensive player than his stats indicate due to playing in the Virginia scheme. He was the main reason Virginia spent the majority of the season ranked #1.

Freshman SF Markelle Staiger and sophomore SG Justin Robinson set the record for 3 point field goals by 2 teammates this season at Duke previously held by another pair of Duke Blue Devils, Jay Williams and Shane Battier. Both of these players seem to be knock down shooters at the next level.

There is not a shot on the floor that sophomore SF Bam McKenna does not like. He led the Power 5 in scoring this last year at Iowa State, and he seems like he could lead the NBA in scoring in the very near future. He will come in to the NBA with a well polished offensive game and a defensive game that needs work.

Colorado freshman A'ja Lammers is a complete point guard teams should target at the top of the draft. He is very athletically gifted, but also has a knack for findinging teammates off of the dribble drive. He can knock down open shots after creating space for himself as well.

If you can't see the pictures, here is a link to the pictures on a google slide

              Just finished draft class 1.

Fun class to make. Not the best players by any means, but the guys I like the most and had the most fun designing are Preston Shaw and Ulf Svennson.

For any Madden 20 players out there, I decided to do a little crossover and add Isaiah Streets into the class. My biggest gripe with Madden is that Streets wasn't drafted into the NFL after 1 year. Well I got a little creative with his story and found a way to get him into 2K.

Please give me any and all feedback. I cant stand the computer draft classes, so I'm trying to get a lot of classes made before I start my MyLeague. Also waiting on CelticLG's rosters to drop before starting. I plan on using JBs draft classes, my own, and any others that are good, so please let me know if you guys find other good ones to use.

The draft class age glitch is back, but I think I got it figured out before I uploaded it.

Finally, please let me know who you guys draft and where guys end up. I love hearing about how different careers play out.

Congrats on what looks like an interesting first class. A couple of quick questions for you:

How do these compare to JB’s in terms of the distribution of play overall ratings, cap on highest rating, and distribution of peak start to peak end ? Ate they identical in those respects or do you take a different approach?

Have you created these in a way where the announcers only use the players name, or do they also use the generic nicknames in the game like “Money”

I would say my guys probably come in to the league at a higher overall that JB's, but not by much. I have only created 1 player that was an 80 overall, and he was a generational talent. The top prospect in this first class will come in at a 77 overall, and based on his peak age, he may or may not reach his full potential.

I'll describe it as best as I can with player comparisons. I try to create players who pan out at the top of the draft (Blake Griffin, John Wall, Kyrie), as well as guys with crazy potential and solid college seasons, but that end up busting after a year or 2 (Anthony Bennett #1, Hasheem Tabeet #2). You might have guys come in and go top 5 that have great potential, but don't live up to it yet are still solid role players (Michael Beasley #2, Shaun Livingston #4).

You might find guys in the lottery that end up playing at an all-star level, or some that might bust. There will be a Draymon Green here and there with a late 1st or early 2nd pick. I give that player a low overall to start, maybe 87 potential, but a later peak age, so that they actually reach that 87 overall and contribute at a very high level despite being a late 1st round pick.

I wouldn't say I have a cap on the highest rating I would put out there, but you will definitely not see an influx of 90+ players in the league, as well as a ton of 80's + running around. One thing I loved about JB's classes, is you could find very solid role players, who might of been in the high 70's low 80's. My favorite player he created was SG who I took at 8, Jaykwon Owens. He was a senior so he didn't have the potential that all the freshman did, but he could score despite never being one of the highest overalls in the league. He even won the MVP for me.

I try and make my seniors have lower potential but come in playing at a slightly higher level. The freshman phenoms will come in high overall and high potential, but there might be some toolsy freshman in the middle of the first round who are low overall, but high potential that could develop.

A lot of the 2nd round picks will end up out of the league in 3-4 years like in real life, but others might enjoy a 9th man spot for 10+ years.

Basically summing that all up is I feel that I have a good understanding of how many studs, busts, gems, etc. to put in each class, and how long they should stay relevant. You wont see a 40 year old, 90 overall hanging around or anything like that.

As far as nicknames go, on the test runs that I ran, they never called them by a nickname. I have noticed that they don't actually say every single players name. Sometimes they will say a players name, other times they won't.

I hope that helps clear stuff up. Really just here to try and give other people a fun 2k experience with what I would be doing anyway. Let me know if you have any other questions about the class! You'll have to let me know who you end up drafting.

Appreciate the thoughtful response, Jeff. Yes, I know Jaykweon Owens well. While I never drafted him, he was a noticeable player in my ML last year.

This year in my Grizz franchise I got the #1 pick and paired Ja Morant with Desmond Cooper from JB's first class. Cooper is a similar story to Owens, small school, late bloomer, came out as a junior. I think he might have slightly higher upside, but the fact that I don't know is one thing I love about JB's class.

The other is that it's designed to not have an influx of guys that become high 80s and 90s, and it sounds like yours follows a similar path.

I'm two games away from the start of the playoffs right now, and fighting for the 8th seed. One way or another, it looks like I'll reach the draft before JB completes his second class. So I had some concerns about porting in your first class as my second class, but it sounds like it could be a solid option.

Cooper and Morant is deadly!! I'm putting my MyLeague off until I get a decent amount of classes made up from me, JB, and any others I find, and CelticLG finishes his roster, and theres a good set of progression regression sliders out there.

Definitely understand the hesitation behind importing a random draft class. I always download random ones first and check them out to make sure they don't ruin my save, but then the surprise element is gone. That's why I like JB's so much, because I can trust his.
