Older games you like that not many people talk about anymore?
What are some older games you like that you see not get too much attention anymore? I remember I really liked Naughty Bear on the PS3 and even preordered it lol but I still like it. It's not very good but it's funny. Another one is Fat Princess this game was popular but it seems to be almost forgotten I think. Saints Row 2 is another one like that too. Another one I like is Deadly Premonition. I feel this game is somewhat talked about but I like the story it is very much like Twin Peaks.Last edited by ESPOMAN; 05-13-2020, 01:25 PM.Tags: None -

Not really that old, but Mad Max is still one of the more underrated games over the last few gens.
Oni on the PS2 was a blast to play and I practically never see that game brought up ever in any regard.“No one is more hated than he who speaks the truth.”

Earthbound on Super Nintendo. Up until a couple of years ago, I did a replay once a year when it was slow at work.#LFC

I just beat Mad Max. I was looking for a game to play and noticed Mad Max on ACG’s YouTube page.
I agree with your sentiment. It’s a GREAT game. The only negative is the activities can become a bit redundant, but the combat, graphics, music, and characters are top notch.
I recommend Mad Max to anyone.Comment

I'm going in the way back machine here....
Defense Grid - it is a tower defense game that fills some of the void of RTS. Played it last year and loved it. Came out in like 2007. Lots of strategy, fun, challenging maps and a great community.
Rise of Nations - another RTS game from the early 2000s. I played it some back in the day but have been getting back into this and Age of Empires recently. The gameplay is time tested and classic. And with skirmish modes there is unlimited replayability.
FTL - I think this game is 8 years old now? Another neat indie game I picked up for $2.50 on a sale a year or so ago. The gameplay is simple, but deep. You are a ship captain navigating through space carrying a message to the Federation. You manage your crew through different star systems and have to manage resources, battles, upgrading/repairing your ship. It's all done in a simple way that lacks complexity, but still has great depth. And it is a game you can dip in and out of for short bursts of time. Almost unlimited replayability.

Rise of Nations was fantastic. Any of those old RTS games like Command & Conquer, Red Alert (loved the awesomely bad FMVs with Kari Wuhrer as Tonya), and the Battle for Middle-Earth games.
This is probably too recent, but I loved the Sly Cooper games. They were well received, but didn't have the long life of Crash and Ratchet & Clank.

My group of HS friends played the hell out of Age of Empires and Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds. Loved those games.
I'll second Saints Row 2. I still cannot believe they literally have a mission where you shoot **** onto buildings to lower their real estate value lol.

Vanquish. underrated game. Hi octane action cover based shooter that kind of plays like a faster Gears.
Days Gone. Sleeper hit. GOTY potential.
WWE2k20. Glitches and bugs aside, Great game, even though i didn't get a lot of the issues with the pc version.
Robert Ludlum's Bourne Conspiracy. One of my most underrated games. Its awesome. Haven't played in minute, so i don't know if it aged well or not.
Def Jam Icon. Not the best in the series by any stretch, but i feel if they build on top of this and add some elements of the past iterations. It could be a glorious return for next gen. I had a blast cracking heads with E40.

Battlefield 4 - reinstalled it on my PS4 last week and I still love it. Still my favorite shooter of all time
Battlefield Hardline - The game got alot of thumbs down, but I really liked the idea and setting
COD Infinite Warfare - First COD I really got into. I like it even with the futuristic setting and abilities
COD BO3 - first COD I played where I really thought I was getting pretty good. Wonder if people still play this?
Suikoden III - Loved the story and how it unfolds in different perspectives. Best video game intro ever made!
NFL 2K5 - still waiting for a football game to match this game...
Ghost Recon - like, the original one for PC and the original xboxComment

Re: Older games you like that not many people talk about anymore?
The last of their kind sports games (NFL 2K5, CH 2K8, NCAA 14) are obvious choices but I feel like people still talk about those. In terms of games that people don't talk about, the two games that really got me into gaming (outside of sports games) were Unreal Tournament and Soldier of Fortune II. I have no doubt that those games would look gross compared to the shooters we have available nowadays but I had so many great memories with those two games.
The Command and Conquer games were great too. I also remember a game in the same genre called Total Annihilation that I played a lot growing up.NFL: Bills
NBA: Bucks
MLB: Cubs
NCAA: Syracuse
Soccer: USMNT/DC United

Don't forget the insurance fraud activities. The minigames in Saints Row really were so much fun. I loved the first two games of the series. I think I beat both 3 and 4, but don't remember. The game started to go too over the top for me.My group of HS friends played the hell out of Age of Empires and Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds. Loved those games.

Alpha Protocol (from Obsidian).
Panned by critics, never really talked about afterwards (aside from some cult followers).
But man, I really loved this game (it's a spy/espionage RPG). It's pretty short (10 hrs IIRC) but it's got some fun spy elements, shooting elements, good enough story, and some good replayability as you can't really max out your character in a single playthrough. Different character builds really influenced how you played the game and made different sections of the game more/less difficult depending on your build.
It's harder to get now because of music licensing rights expiring; but I'd have to imagine hard copies aren't too bad to get ahold of.
It's not a perfect game...but I really liked it.Play the games you love, not the games you want to love.Comment
