Had to feel good to pound on Sparty after last year as well. Big win, keep it rolling, the finish line is in sight! Basically a championship game every week now with top ranked Nebraska and Ohio State and then *knock on wood* a BCS championship game.
We have really focused on the interior lines and put a lot of our recruiting efforts on the defensive side of the ball. I'm going absolutely ham on DT this year and I have no idea why, I'm already pretty set there. I wasn't paying attention, lol. So we'll have some work to do in order to sort that all out. Anyway, I hope the defense can continue to be dominant. I just wish I could get the opposing team's QB's to stop trying to scramble against us. But they have nowhere to go with the football a lot of times. We should have some big time challenges coming up through. Bye week this week, then it's on to Nebraska. On to Nebraska.... On. to. Nebraska lol

Sparty seems to be having a rough year defending their Big Ten crown. It must've felt nice to get some revenge on last year's game.
It's nice to have an occasional game like that. Our defense was playing so well it was much less annoying than it might have been. It would have been a lot nicer if they were in form, but it was still good. I got myself worked up for it remembering the frustration of the loss, hahaha.

Shout out to Shonn Greene, but Larry Legend deserves that rushing crown.
It's nice to have the occasional snow game, although this might have been the one that impacted the on-field action the most I can remember. I don't think they report temperature anywhere (do they?) but it must have been very cold because we couldn't hold on to the ball, or throw it accurately, or anything. The defense is pretty amazing. I'm not looking forward to seeing some of these guys leave. Thanks dude.

To your point on that, this is where since we’ve had the game for so long now we can figure some of this out… if the opposing QB you’re facing has an AWR under 75, they’re way more likely to scramble on the first immediate sense of not finding their read. So if you want the QB to sit in the pocket more and throw rather than that generic scramble immediately after drop back animation, just up their awareness before the game to 75 or higher and they should stop doing that. You may want to leave it if you’re playing a freshman or someone inexperienced, but that’s a way you can make the QB stop scrambling.

That is the one good thing about playing on RCPS3. There's a tool that changes all QBs over 90+ speed to balanced and all QBs under 90 speed to pocket passer. They'll still scramble if the opportunity presents itself, but it definitely tones down the scramble after their first read fails.

Hey man, thanks to Chase, and thanks to you for maintaining this place, it's really the perfect place to share a dynasty mode and means a lot to me, and I would assume the other people sharing their stories.

2023 - Conference Championship Week / Week 15 Weird Week Update

Oops. I should have simmed to the start of Conference Championship Week. Navy has since lost to Army, Oklahoma State predictably lost to 99/99/99 Oklahoma, which are really only the notable results. Oklahoma have moved up to #5, while Auburn maintain their #3 in the nation spot despite not playing their way into the SEC conference championship game which pits Georgia against Texas A&M. Anyway, I was too lazy to redo this:

2023 Big Ten Conference Championship Preview - #2 Ohio State vs #1 Iowa

                      Clark versus Meyer - Again

Coach Clark and Coach Meyer have now faced off six times, and Clark enjoys an incredible 5-1 record against the best coach of all time. It should probably be 3-3, but Ohio State at times has played well below their capabilities against Clark. Here's a quick summary:

                      08/26/2017 - Idaho 38 @ Ohio State 31
After Coach Clark had built up the Vandals to a talented squad, he managed to win his first meeting against Urban Meyer, whose team was surprisingly unprepared and played poorly.

                      10/05/2019 - Iowa 55 @ Ohio State 35
Once again, Clark had time to build up his team before facing Meyer. Legendary QB Eddie Allen and company ambushed the Buckeyes and came away victorious to make Coach Clark 2-0 against Meyer.

                      12/07/2019 - Iowa 17, Ohio State 24
Iowa were physically dominated as Ohio State came to play, and the Hawkeyes lost by a touchdown despite catching most of the breaks in the game.

                      10/10/2020 - Iowa 30 @ Ohio State 28
Eddie Allen was at his best in a narrow 30-28 win, turning in touchdown runs of 77 and 67 yards as the team racked up 330 yards rushing and gained payback for losing in the conference championship game.

                      12/12/2020 - Iowa 42, Ohio State 35
In a game that was not quite as close as the 42-35 score would indicate, Iowa won for Coach J.D. Clark his first conference championship in four tries. Now a two-time national champion, it's funny to think that the knock against Coach Clark just a couple of years ago was that he couldn't win a conference championship with the Vandals or the Hawkeyes. Clark went on to win his first of two consecutive national championships.

                      12/11/2021 - Iowa 38, Ohio State 24
Clark went with the same approach as the last time the two teams faced off: Make Jonathan Hunter throw the ball. The inaccurate Hunter struggled in this regard, as multiple drives were stopped short due to easy throws that were missed, and threw an easy touchdown returned by Joe Gibson for a touchdown.

It has been two years since the previous matchup, and Hunter has come a long way as a passer and quarterback. This game may be a Heisman Trophy showdown, with the winner taking home a shot at the BCS as well as the Heisman trophy itself.

                      LINEUP/TALENT COMPARISON

If you look carefully, you can see some cracks forming in Ohio State that almost seem blasphemous. They don't have dominant cornerbacks, and their linebackers are solid but not spectacular, and not particularly athletic.

Senior Buckeye Nikitas Zagotti is one of the most talented edge players in the country. The left end is 6'4", 285 and runs like a top tight end with the strength of a defensive tackle. Known for having almost no holes in his game in the scouting community, Zagotti has been surprisingly non productive overall, with a grand total of 11.5 sacks to his name for his career. Zagotti has missed a lot of games in his career, yet his sack total still belies his skill and dominance. In his last game against Iowa, Zagotti had 7 tackles, 2 TFL, and a sack, and was an absolute handful. In the other games, he was either quiet or injured. How will he perform today?

Overall, Ohio State have the best offense in the nation and a solid defense, whereas Iowa are their mirror. Will the #1 defense in the nation, represented by the Hawkeyes, be able to take them down? Let's strap it up.

The trenches battle between OSU’s offensive line and backfield and your front seven looks like it’s going to be one for the ages. Some absolute STUD ratings there across the board. Obviously your running game is going to be key to your success, because it looks like “ratings wise “ OSU’s defense may have you beat, but we know Larry Legend doesn’t need a 99 rating to be the hero he is. It’s really a shame that this is basically the de facto national title game, because it may be a little anti climactic when the winner goes and batters a 10-2 Navy squad or whoever gets the lucky break into the title game.

Yes, the ratings bely Lloyd's ability, for sure. He's turned more into a grinder type the more I've put on his plate, but it's been the right call as we're just dominating week in and week out. Look forward to seeing what our running game looks like without him, and our center, Ambrogino "Gino" Pollino, who is just a road grader, and singlehandedly guarantees nobody slips right through the middle. Ever. Whether we're going straight ahead, or we aim Gino to cut off one side or the other, he never misses and he almost never gets pushed back at all. That's why he's the favorite to win the Outland and Rimington this year. The fact that they don't have a really good set of corners really gives us hope. Week in and week out we look inferior in terms of those matchups and yet this week, against OSU, we've been feeling great about it. Add in a super slow strong safety, and a defensive stud in Zagotti that just hasn't been getting it done and things were really looking up.

At first I thought Hunter was going to be a huge problem. He looked amazing in the first quarter. Then once Iowa got the 10 point lead, OSU started pressing and everything snowballed from there. OSU is not a bad team, but that has to be one of the "worst case simulations" of this matchup if it was played 100 times.

                                Great victory for the Hawkeyes!
