The Most Devastating Losses Of Your Dynasty?

Been bouncing around dynasties using a team from each star level, and my 4-star team is South Carolina, which has been a roller coaster.

I had just an all-time ripper of a fold last night. If you don't know, South Carolina has a brutal 2024 schedule (not quite Gators insane overall, but maybe the hardest in SEC) so we're just looking for any signature wins we can squeeze out in Year 1.

Anyway, we go into Tuscaloosa, and we put together an amazing first half holding Milroe in check and am winning 14-7 at the break. He comes alive in 2nd but we stand tall inside our own 25 multiple times and block an XP at one point to keep things manageable late in the 4th.

We're down 26-21 with 5:30 to go, and we put together a long drive including a 4th down conversion and score with :26 secs to go, the score is now 27-26, so I go for two because I want to be up a field goal.

    What do you think happens?

That's right, I throw a PICK 2 and am now down 28-27 as Bama runs it all the way back for the score. But it's somehow not over yet as I somehow recover the onside kick (I think my first of this year) and still have one timeout.

I put together enough of a drive to line up for a 49-yard FG and, oh yeah baby, that ish gets shanked at the buzzer and I go down in crushing fashion.

My first Dynasty with Colorado, lost the natty by 1 point.

4th quarter, up by 2. Opposing team threw the ball, got tiped...CAUGHT and tackled. Was just within range for a 45 yard field goal. Hit it with time expired.

Less than 10 seconds remaining opponent scored, recovered onside kick, completed a Hail Mary. I hate when that happens.

Not a devastating loss, but had a devastating win. Was the head coach of Kent State and we made it to the MAC Conference Championship game vs NIU. We play great for 3 quarters, up 17-0 entering the 4th. We end up blowing the lead and the game goes to OT. NIU has the ball first and scores 3. We get the ball make it down to the 1 yard line and get stuffed on 3rd and goal. I know NIU is the better team so I decide to go for two. Hand the ball off to my running back who "barely" make it over the line and we win. After the game ends I go to watch the screenshot and he was clearly short. We should have lost and its jst felt dirty to feel happy about it

Wow, what a gut punch loss Chase. Thanks for starting the thread. I've had many bad and dumb losses, but the closest to "devastating" probably comes from the very first game I had in dynasty. I was Buffalo and was playing vs Navy.

I was 17-6 at half, but it was my wife's birthday and she was ready to use the Xbox, so I super-simmed the second half. Navy scored 19 straight points and got up 25-24. I jumped in and took control. Drove down the field, set up a FG inside the 10 with 7 seconds left. I shanked it soooo bad and lost. Like a 25 yard FG maybe went 20 yards wide of the goal posts

A month ago, I looked at running an Alabama test dynasty. I immediately lost to Western Kentucky and fired myself after one game. So yeah, the L was beyond devastating to the dynasty. It was flatout lethal.

I intercepted a pass on my own 5 yard line with like 30 seconds left. I could not gain a yard. So now its 4th down and my scary a55 for some reason thought the cpu would block my punt. So I go for it with 4 seconds left. My intentions were to scramble and just throw the ball away. The plan did not work. My RT just let the DE go untouched. I got safetied and lost by one point smh

Worst loss since my uncle beat me on madden 06 with -75 yards. Yes you read that right.

                4. Year four lost an triple overtime game to Purdue in the season opener.

Started out as FSU. Lost my first game on a last second FG to Georgia Tech. I told myself I was just getting used to the game. Then I lost at home to Boston College and it wasn't close.

                  Wait a second.......

                    Easily my Louisiana Dynasty.

Year Four in the Natty. Rallied from 17 down in the second half to tie Michigan. Off to Overtime.

1st OT: Both score TDs and PATs
2nd OT: Both score TDs and get the conversions
3rd OT: UM scores 2pt conversion on literally a straight dive
I run motion QB power and get stuffed at the GL. Lose 54-52.

Haven't been back to the Natty since.

Re: The Most Devastating Losses Of Your Dynasty?

Just had mine. Year 2031 with Colorado State. I'm undefeated, and beat Maryland in the CFP quarterfinals at the Orange Bowl.

Next game, I play West Virginia in the Peach Bowl in the CFP semifinals, winner goes on to play for the title.

Was a good back and forth game. Neither team could get any breathing room.

Late in the fourth quarter, I took the lead 31-27. I felt pretty confident, as my defense has been stout all season long. Unfortunately, the Mountaineers pushed the ball down the field and score a TD with 24 seconds left. It's 34-31, and I need to move the ball quickly to get into FG range.

I connect on two huge pass plays, getting inside my kicker's distance. Run the ball to set up a center of the field kick...only to get pushed by tacklers to the left hash, and I almost ran out of time. Took a timeout with 1 second left and bring out my Groza finalist kicker to send the game into OT, with a kick from about 40 yards...

...which I overpowered and got the shaky red arrow of doom. Kick was closer than I expected, but missed wide left, and I fell to WVU 34-31. WVU went on to beat Penn State in the title game, making it the fourth time in my dynasty that I lost to the eventual national champion in the CFP.

Re: The Most Devastating Losses Of Your Dynasty?

Here are the final plays of my 3 most devastating losses in a USC dynasty.

#3 Nebraska throws up a Hail Mary, I'm USC ranked #1:
                        <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/Lr3gj19FIRg?si=LIrS6IuYyJi2FjAa" title="YouTube video player" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" referrerpolicy="strict-origin-when-cross-origin" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Playoff, round 1 vs Washington. I take the lead 24-21 with 17 seconds left, Washington has no timeouts. All I need to do is kickoff and hold them for a few plays:

                        <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/N8P6PVzlhTc?si=H7sU7Bm3Tn0R0ReW" title="YouTube video player" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" referrerpolicy="strict-origin-when-cross-origin" allowfullscreen></iframe>

I had already beat Ohio St. in the regular season, and again in the Big10 championship (by 3 or 4 TD's). The playoff decided a rematch was necessary. Tied at 17 with 0:12 seconds left, USC has the ball at the 47 with 2 timeouts trying to get into field goal range.

Enjoy this 29 second clip of heartbreak:

I was Boise State and carried a 17-0 lead into the 4th quarter at Oregon. Then it all fell apart. Couldn't run. Couldn't pass. Couldn't play action or RPO and more importantly, couldn't get my defense off the field. They kicked a field goal as time expired to send it into overtime. Then they finished me off in double overtime with a 2 point conversion. I think I could have just laid down my controller and gotten better results.

Haha I've done this with SuperSim twice where it's like oh I'm up 24 or whatever late in the third, let me sim and then it goes into OT and I have to be like "oh crap" and intervene.

Almost pulled off the upset against texas as toledo. Was down 19-13 just over a minute left had the ball 2nd goal from the 8. Had the TE on a corner route with the advantage to the outside. He caught it got hit and dropped it. The next play they get a strip sack and pick it up and score a TD. I lose 25-13

What really makes it worse when I watched the replay of the play the TE dropped the ball. I had the WR running a crossing route underneath and he was wide open would have walked in
