    9/9 - 9/29 Game Discussion Thread

Last game discussion thread of the regular season.

Hopefully at the end, I get to type that Oliver Marmol has been fired by the Cardinals

I remember back in the 80s watching the Braves on TBS, Skip Caray used to quote somebody "everyone wins 50, everyone loses 50, it's what you do with the other 62 that matters."

And then there's the White Sox. I knew they were bad, but good grief. How do you have 33 wins a week into September?

A small fun fact for this Jays series.

John Gibbons returns as a coach with the Mets in his first appearances against the Jays since he was let go back in 2018.

The coach on the opposing side is John Schneider, who was part of the Jays farm system as a player during Gibbons first tenure with the Jays, and has some familiarity with him from spring trainings dating back almost 20 years ago (and later familiarity when Schneider was a minor league coach during Gibbons 2nd stint).

I wonder if it feels weird for coaches when someone you knew as a player in your team's system, or especially if it's a guy you actually coached, ends up one day being a manager opposing you.

Wouldn't surprise me. They gave him an extension for missing the playoffs last year.

            Sorry for double post:

The Tigers are 3 games out of the wildcard. I really hope they find a way to get in. Fun team to watch.

Bowden Francis with another no hitter going into the 9th (2nd time in a month) and just like the first time he allows a HR to start the inning!

Jays have such bad luck historically with 9th inning no hitter/perfect games.

Jays with a no hitter going into the 9th.

They lose 6-2 and the game didn't go to extras....

Kumar Rocker makes his MLB debut tonight. Our one-time #1 wasn't signed due arm issues which eventually did have him in surgery and recovery. However, I'm rooting for the big fellow and hoping for a dominant start for the Rangers

                        He pitched pretty well.

.. but you have to keep in mind the Mariners only have 4 professional hitters in their lineup.

Mariners are still in it. They have a daunting schedule ahead but one thing they do have is pitching. They have Scherzer today. Yesterday's win was gutty. deGrom looked good in his return, but they need to make their move now. Dan Wilson is also hoping to show he belongs.

NL playoffs could be really fun this year. A Dodgers/Padres and Phillies vs Mets or Braves divisional round is very realistic and if things shift around a bit in the standings we could get the Mets and Braves in the wildcard. Rivalries meeting in the playoffs always make things more exciting
