BINGHAMTON - The New Hampshire Fisher Cats defeat the Binghamton Mets 5-1, behind a strong pitching performance by starter Chad Jenkins. The New Hampshire hurler recorded his 6th victory on the young season behind a 2-run shot from 1B Mike McDade.

The Blue Jays drop their 2nd straight to the Rays on a sloppily fielded game by a score of 8-5. Drew Hutchison did not pitch well tonight. He hung a slider in the 2nd to Upton that resulted in a 3-run shot to left.

The Jays made a run in the 7th inning but came up short. The Jays fall back into a tie for the bottom of the AL East with the Rays, 10.5 games behind the Red Sox.

The next Jays game will be Friday, May 25th at Texas. The Rangers will send Neftali Feliz (6-1, 2.80 ERA) to the mound and the Jays will counter with Brandon Morrow (5-2, 1.96 ERA).

The Jays sweep the Mets in impressive fashion behind a dominant pitching performance by Henderson Alvarez and four relievers. Although Alvarez got a no-decision he pitched well enough to win but the offense couldn't score any runs against Johan Santana until the 7th inning when Edwin Encarnacion hit a solo shot for the only run of the game.

Toronto pitchers struck out 14 New York hitters in a game that lasted only 2 hours and 9 minutes. Santana was equally dominant for the Mets except for the lone mistake to Encarnacion.

The Jays picked up a game in the standings thanks to a Boston loss and now sit 9 games behind the AL East leading Red Sox.

The Jays belted three home runs against the struggling Mets pitching staff and Ricky Romero pitched well over 7 innings to give the Blue Jays a 6-1 victory over the Mets.

Romero scattered five hits while striking out five and keeping the Mets hitters off balance all afternoon. J.P. Arencibia, Edwin Encarnacion, and Joe Bautista homered for Toronto. Ike Davis drove in the only run for the visiting Mets with a solo shot off Romero in the 5th.

The Jays are 18-22 and still find themselves 10 games behind Boston in the AL East.

Luke Scott hit a solo shot in the top of the 11th inning off Blue Jays reliever Casey Janssen to give the Rays a 1-0 victory over Toronto.

The story today was pitching. David Price threw 9 scoreless innings, striking out seven. Brandon Morrow also threw 9 scoreless innings, striking out 13 and allowing only two hits, but it wasn't enough.

The Jays bats were silent until the bottom of the 11th when Omar Vizquel and Rajai Davis started the inning with singles. Yunel Escobar lined out sharply to left field, robbed of extra bases by a diving Matt Joyce. Jose Bautista hit a dribbler up the 1st base line for the 2nd out but both runners advanced. Rays closer Kyle Farnsworth intentionally walked Edwin Encarnacion to load the bases. J.P. Arencibia stepped into the box with a chance to win the game with a single. Farnsworth pushed the count 2-2 and threw sharp breaking slider, causing Arencibia to swing and miss, ending the game.

The Jays will be back in action on May 16th at home against the Yankees when Kyle Drabek (2-2, 6.62) faces Michael Pineda (5-2, 3.99).

Drew Hutchison picked up his first Major League win with a 3-hit shutout of the Minnesota Twins. Hutchison faced the minimum, erasing all three hits with double plays. Hutchison needed only 85 pitches to register his first complete game of his young career. It was the first complete game for the Blue Jays of 2012.

The Jays mashed 19 hits but could only muster 6 runs. Poor base running kept them from scoring double digits as three players were thrown out at home by Twins outfielders. Yunel Escobar was also thrown out at 2nd trying to stretch a single into a double.

Jose Bautista continues his hot streak, homering for the 11th time this season.

Monday, May 14th, the Jays are back in action against the Rays for a two-game set when Brandon Morrow (4-2, 2.01) will face off against David Price (3-4, 4.76).

The Jays are now 16-18 but remain 7 games behind the Yankees in the AL East.

The Jays took game one of the 4-game series with the Twins behind another strong outing by Henderson Alvarez. Finally a strong outing paid for the young pitcher as Alvarez notched his first victory of the season with a 3-2 win over Minnesota.

Alvarez's only mistake game in the bottom of the 7th. After a lead off single by Morneau, Alvarez grooved a fastball and Josh Willingham made him pay with a two-run shot to left field. But that was the only runs the Jays would allow.

Jose Bautista hit his 10th homer of the season in the top half of the 1st to give the Jays the lead.

Casey Janssen ran into some trouble in the 8th when he let the lead off man reach base on a pinch hit single by Parmalee. Janssen then got the next two outs but Parmalee had advanced to 3rd. In comes Darren Oliver to face Joe Mauer and he shut the door in convincing fashion by striking out the Twin catcher on four pitches to end the threat. Sergio Santos pitched the 9th for his 10th save of the season.

Game 2 (sim day), the Jays will send Kyle Drabek (2-1, 6.52) to the hill to face Francisco Liriano (1-4, 6.12). Saturday, May 12th will see rookie Drew Hutchison (0-2, 6.04) against Nick Blackburn (1-4, 6.12). The series finale will pit Ricky Romero (4-2, 5.40) against Scott Baker (0-4, 4.93).

The Jays are now 15-17 on the season and 6.5 games behind the Yankees and sitting in 3rd in the AL East

The Blue Jays bounce back after losing the first two games of the series against the Angels with a 3-0 win behind a strong outing from Kyle Drabek. Jays pitchers scattered 10 hits in the shutout.

Yunel Escobar homered in the 6th to give the Jays a 1-0 lead. Kelly Johnson followed with a solo shot in the 7th and J.P. Arencibia capped the scoring with a solo shot in the 8th.

Once again the Jays struggled to get hits and are last in the AL in batting with a team average of .231 while the team ERA continues to go down. It is now 5.02.

After dropping the 1st game of the series to the Texas Rangers, the Toronto Blue Jays took game two 2-1 behind some stellar pitching.

Rookie Drew Hutchison pitched 6.2 innings of 1-run ball, scattering 9 hits. Luis Perez and Francisco Cordero pitched 0.2 of scoreless baseball each and Sergio Santos pitched the 9th for his 6th save.

Ricky Romero (2-2, 7.62) faces off against Matt Harrison (3-1, 1.71) in the series finale Wednesday. Thursday, Brandon Morrow (4-1, 1.59) will matchup against Jered Weaver (3-2, 1.70) in Anaheim as the Jays start a 4-game set against the Angels.

The Jays sweep the Mariners at home with 2-1 victory Sunday night. Henderson Alvarez had a strong start spoiled by an RBI double in the 7th inning by Gutierrez which tied the score at 1. However, in the bottom of the 11th, Jose Bautista came through with a walk-off single to win the game.

Toronto pitchers had the Mariners guessing all night as they struck out 14 Seattle hitters. The Jays lower their team ERA to 5.48, but their team batting average is still a low .239.

Hopefully the bats will come around as the Jays head to Texas to play the Rangers for three before coming back home to face the Angels.

Tuesday night's game draws Drew Hutchison (0-1, 6.55) against Colby Lewis (1-3, 6.55).

The Jays took the first game of a three-game series at home against Seattle 3-0 behind a stellar pitching performance by Ricky Romero. The Blue Jay hurler went 6.2 innings of shutout ball, limiting the Mariners to just 4 hits.

Jose Bautista hit a solo shot in the 1st inning and that was all Romero needed before giving way to Oliver in the 7th. Sergio Santos pitched the 9th for his 5th save.

The Blue Jays took the second game of the Baltimore series with a 3-2 victory behind more strong starting pitching from Kyle Drabek. Edwin Encarnacion continues to swing a hot bat. Encarnacion knocked a two-run homer in the 4th inning to give the Jays the lead for good.

Drabek went six strong innings, striking out seven and walking none. The only blemish for the night was an Endy Chavez two-run homer in the 3rd inning that gave the Orioles the lead 2-0.

Four Toronto relievers pitched the final three innings, surrendering only one hit and a walk, both by Casey Janssen in the 7th. Darren Oliver came on in the 8th with Chavez on 1st and no one out. Oliver proceeded to strikeout Nick Markakis before giving way to Francisco Cordero who induced a double play off the bat of JJ Hardy. Sergio Santos came on in the ninth and closed it out.

Drew Hutchison takes the hill on Thursday in the rubber match as the Jays attempt to win only their second series on the young season. The Jays return home on Friday for a 3-game set against the Mariners with Ricky Romero (1-2, 9.97) looking to turn things around against Felix Hernandez (2-0, 1.55).

The Blue Jays snap a 6-game losing streak behind some strong pitching to avoid their second series sweep in a row. Brandon Morrow and two relievers held the Royals to just 3 hits as they shutout Kansas City 1-0. Morrow was masterful. He had his split finger working to perfection. The Royals did a good job of getting him into deep counts, fouling off pitch after pitch. Morrow went 6 innings and allowed only two hits while walking two.

Edwin Encarnacion provided the only run support needed with a solo shot to left center field in the fifth. The Jays pitchers did the rest. Darren Oliver pitched two perfect innings, striking out the side in the 8th inning and Sergio Santos pitched the 9th for this 3rd save of the season.

Kansas City had what they wanted in the 9th. Escobar led off with a bunt single. Getz sacrificed him to 2nd. Santos struck out Cain for the 2nd out and then Eric Hosmer stepped up to the plate. Hosmer crushed a Santos fastball to right center field, but Colby Rasmus ran it down to the end game in dramatic fashion.

The Jays are still struggling at the plate. Their team batting average is .234 and going 4-for-29 against a marginal KC starter didn't help. The strong pitching performance lowered Toronto's team ERA to a putrid 6.80. The Jays stand 5 games out in the AL East behind the Rays and the Yankees. Kansas City dropped a game behind the White Sox for the AL Central lead.

The Jays are back in action Tuesday as they travel to Baltimore to open a 3-game series against the Orioles when Henderson Alvarez (0-2, 8.56) will match up against Jake Arrieta (2-1, 3.15). Wednesday's match up will pair Kyle Drabek (0-0, 7.36) against Jason Hammel (1-1, 3.60) while Thursday the Jays will send Drew Hutchison (0-1, 16.62) against Dylan Bundy (0-2, 6.60).
