Re: Welcome to the Dark Side - Chicago White Sox

Series #8

(9-12) @ (13-9)

Game 1:
A marathon performance to open the series, the Tigers and White Sox stretched game one to fifteen innings. Carlos Rodon, recently relegated to the bullpen, found a new way to earn a loss. JD Martinez ripped a single to right center with the bases loaded, allowing the Tigers to walk off. Detroit's bullpen didn't allow a run after the sixth inning.

Game 2:
Look who's back! James Shields picked up his first win of the season, striking out five in 7 1/3 innings. Shields scattered just five hits, and looked sharp for the first time this year. Avisail Garcia stayed red hot, collecting three hits and his third home run of the season.

Game 3:
What was a promising start to 2017 has turned into a disaster for Derek Holland. Holland was pulled in the third innings after a Justin Upton two run shot to make things 6-2. With a hit in all three games of the series, Victor Martinez extended his hitting streak to eighteen games. Nick Castellanos went 3/3 with a homer and three RBI to help give Detroit the series win.

Series #9

(10-14) @ (10-14)

Game 1:
The White Sox opened their series with Kansas City with a bang, thanks mainly to Todd Frazier. Frazier hit two homers, while Avi Garcia collected three hits to lead the team. Jose Quintana picked up win number four on the season, throwing six solid innings.

Game 2:
The Royals jumped back into the series thanks to a great outing by the rookie Josh Staumont. Staumont, 23, was erratic but unhittable in his first career start. The right walked four and struck out six in five innings of work.

Game 3:
Jorge Soler's three run moonshot in the eighth inning proved to be huge, giving the Royals insurance in their eventual 7-4 victory. The top four hitters in Kansas City's lineup all recorded two hits tonight.

Game 4:
A split is better than the sweep that occurred in the first match-up between these two teams, but it's not what Chicago was looking for. Nevertheless, the hits came in bunches today. Avisail Garcia continues to crush baseballs, going 4/4 with two home runs. Tyler Ladendorf has been a pleasant surprise, adding three hits today. Whatever adjustment James Shields made is working, as the veteran came through with his second straight quality start.

Series 10 Preview
Chicago White Sox (12-16) @ Baltimore Orioles (12-15)

Game 1: Derek Holland (1-2, 7.15) vs. Vidal Nuno (2-0, 2.35)
Game 2: Jose Quintana (4-1, 2.13) vs. Ubaldo Jimenez (1-1, 3.60)
Game 3: Miguel Gonzalez (1-3, 4.10) vs. Chris Tillman (1-4, 4.13)

Series #10

(12-15) @ (12-16)

Game 1:
With the pressure on, Derek Holland delivered the start of his career. Striking out seven over eight innings, the lefty allowed just five baserunners and one run. Vidal Nuno was hit hard early, thanks to Ryan Raburn's double dongs in back to back innings.

Game 2:
Tonight was Ubaldo Jimenez's turn to shine. In what turned into a terrific pitchers duel, Jimenez out pitched Jose Quintana to earn the 1-0 victory. The only run scored in the game was unearned. A three base error was charged to Jacob May after he took a flyball off the face. The runner would later score on a groundout to third. Quintana took a no hitter, despite being down 1-0, into the 6th inning.

Game 3:
The bats woke back up for the White Sox this afternoon, allowing Chicago to take two of three in the series. With the game still close, Melky Cabrera and Avasail Garcia went back to back to stretch the lead to 6-1. Miguel Gonzalez was solid, allowing one run in seven innings.

Series 11 Preview
Minnesota Twins (15-16) @ Chicago White Sox (14-17)

Game 1: Cory Luebke (2-2, 3.48) vs. Ervin Santana (3-2, 1.77)
Game 2: James Shields (2-2, 3.44) vs. Kyle Gibson (1-3, 6.14)
Game 3: Derek Holland (2-2, 5.58) vs. Tyler Duffey (1-3, 3.60)
