Penalizing great players who play with other great players
Here is something I don't understand and makes no sense
You have a player in any sport who is great.
Then someone comes along and says "Well he had good players around him"
Which means what exactly?
Name me the athlete that said "Well we do have a good team, but I don't want to play with other good players. Lets go find some guys who don't what they are doing and ill play with them so people wont question my greatness"
Just because I am good/great at my job and just so happen to work with some other people that are also good, that doesn't mean that I still don't have to do my job.
If I am a chef and I work at the best restaurant in the world, I still have to cook the food right. If I made burnt or uncooked meals, then it wouldn't matter if I was surrounded by a great staff.
EVERYONE STILL HAS TO DO THEIR JOB REGARDLESS OF HOW GREAT THEY ARE.
Working with other great workers doesn't take away from me being a great worker. I still know how to do my job well right? right...lol
Also, why the hell would you want to work with people that don't know what they are doing? Of course you need other people who know how to do their jobs in order to win.
Every championship team, in every sport had multiple good to great players so you cant penalize a guy for that.
The Dallas Cowboys are usually the the team brought up in this nonsense. Let me be clear right now that I am not a Dallas fan. I say that because someone will probably assume that but thats not the case. They are just an example.
People would say "Well Aikman had Smith and Irvin" or "Smith had a good line"...etc etc. These are factual statements but lets dig a little deeper.
Michael Irvin was the first of the triplets to come to the Cowboys in 1988. From 1986 to 1990, the Cowboys were very bad. After Irvin, then came Aikman in 89 then Emmit in 90.
The triplets (Aikman,Smith,Irvin) became great together. They didnt get drafted to a powerhouse team that had just come off of a Superbowl win. They became that powerhouse team.
In order to win you need good players, plural. That great Quarterback still has to read defenses and make accurate throws. That great runningback still has to read defenses and hit the holes correctly. That great wide receiver still has to run the right routes and catch the ball, so no matter how good or great your teammates are, you still have to execute YOUR job.
