Well, one thing is that it is no longer a regional game like is was 25 to 30 years ago. So many of the local rivalries we all grew up with and loved dearly are essentially D.E.A.D.

I love reminiscing about the old days where the conferences made some sense geographically and the names themselves weren't outright lies. But this has been a long time coming. Just another domino in the push to professionalize and break away from the NCAA as a governing body.

At least it will allow us to have a college football video game again. I like the idea of UVA joining as well, they are a school the old big 10 might have accepted when they cared about academics. If the ACC starts imploding as well they should make a run at Miami AZ well.

I couldn't decide which headline to go with:

"Rutgers earns a trip to the Rose Bowl"

"After being founded over 125 years ago, the Western Conference finally lives up to its name"

"USC, UCLA strike lucrative NIL deals"

Maybe I’ve had my head in the sand, but I saw this headline a few minutes ago and it shocked me. Maybe it shouldn’t have, but ugh. I mean I get it, but all these moves still suck as a fan. Now we have a conference that literally spans the entire lower 48. All this crap just pushes me away as a fan. If the NCAA is just going to be the NFL lite, then I might as well just watch the real deal.

I can't be the only one who thinks this is awesome. Bring it on. Reshape everything
edit: also kinda funny that Lincoln Riley will end up in a super conference afterall

Its inevitable for football. And I find myself caring less and less.

For basketball, its soul crushing.

I hope they find some way to keep hoops similar to what we have in place now. With the money the tourney generates, I think they can do that. But there's a pretty clear path for greed turning it on its head.

Cal has had really good runs in football and basketball.

Cal and Stanford will be a package deal for the Bay Area audience.

.. Oregon will be a big draw for the Nike money and clout that generates.

If they played their games in (pre-warzone) Portland, I think they would be a home run for any conference.
