This has frustrated me for a decade too...I loved the fact that we could customize our camera views and play the game from a viewpoint that we chose based on the type of play and personal settings. I was frustrated that I could never *quite* replicate the ESPN Sky-cam from their telecasts to use as my default camera, but IIRC I was able to get a decent approximation of it for my in-game camera...
There were a lot of things over the years that have been in Madden (and to a lesser degree in NCAA before its demise) that have clearly shown EA's approach to the game is iterative and definitely NOT cumulative. Had they been building the game on top of all the previous features instead of knee-jerking around from one 3 year plan to the next, the game play and feature set of the series would be astounding...
There's a long list of features that were part of the franchise over the last 10-12 years that was around for one or two years and then eliminated, and it makes me a little sad to know that the outlines for an excellent overall game are there, but its like they keep getting the frame of a puzzle done only to have an entirely new puzzle dumped on top of the table every third or fourth year...
