Clint raises a lot of questions and kind of ruins credibility with that statement.

Madden 17 is still a must buy for me. Just wish they could admit def assignments is a tall task for this development team.

Just wait till the zone coverage blog comes out, Sim just said on the show people will not believe what they are doing with zones and how they're implementing them.

I'm excited for zone coverage. I primarily play zone however not being able to shadow their best receiver with your best corner is still a huge let down. I'm not one to complain but that is still a huge piece missing for me when playing defense and I thought there was 0 chance it wasn't making it into the game this year. The "you won't need it" comment is disappointing thats all.

Re: EA Sports Madden 17 Dev Tweets

I'm sorry, but while this may function well as a gameplay mechanic, it is not the equivalent of a real football alternative. Clint's statement is either an attempt to placate people as he knows they'll be disappointed, or it's a glaring insight into coverages being way overdone such that matchups don't matter.

Are we creating a real football game, or just a chess move and counter-move variant that plays out on a football field? In football, matchups matter. The NFL is a league dictated by scheming how to get your best players in the best position. It's foolish to think top defenders don't shadow top receivers all day in the NFL. We all know better. We see it happen.

This game has shown so much promise that I'm confident we will all be pleased, but this is a strike against it for me. If they don't add formation subs this year, I'll begin to question if the type of defensive control we enjoyed a decade ago will ever surface again.

Let's just wait for the coverage blog to come out, they could have added something where the 1WR is on 1CB without adding def assignments.

Looks like it's going to be a while before any franchise news

Love reading all the great ideas and passion for Franchise in my mentions. I need to write that blog.— John White (@EA_White) May 20, 2016

Hopefully he writes it this weekend and we get it next week, I think the zone coverage one is next week, as long as we get a blog or two per week I think it will be good.
