Re: New Marketing Strategy?

I kinda love this new strategy.

For years, I've been saying that releasing videos months/weeks before release didnt really affect sales for established games like Madden and NBA 2k.....now we get to see if its true. Other than the chance to fix a few bugs before release, most of the time its just people nitpicking the vids for weeks on end.

Maybe I'm wrong and this will result and a noticeable drop in sales. Maybe I'm not and the same or more people will buy this years game.

To me all that matters is the finished product. I'm buying because for all the criticism they get their online CFM is the best functioning online league mode within the sports games I play.

I don't have a problem with the strategy. Rex and Clint have more than willing to give what ever info they are allowed to dish out. That's the main thing that makes the wait easier. So its not like we are not in the dark about the game. Its not like it use to be where we only hear from devs when blogs came out.

I don't really see this strategy affecting sales at all. I'm sure there is a big percentage of gamers who rarely check info on games pre-release unless a friend tells them about. There are a lot who buy game regardless every year or pretty much know already if they are buying it regardless of info

Re: New Marketing Strategy?

I don't mind them waiting to release them, I just wish they would come out and say it. Just tell everyone that you're waiting until July 21st, Aug 1st, or whatever it is. Personally, when they say they are waiting for review/approval from partners, I can't help but form the opinion that they just wrote the blogs last weekend and are now rushing to get them published. It just feels very unorganized.

I just hope when they get around to releasing Maddens CFM blog they don't accidently give us NBA Lives blog instead. Although in some respects that might be apropos. lol
