Re: Official MLB 17 : Road to the Show Thread
I first started this RTTS player back in MLB '14 and have been carrying him over ever since (I usually get through a whole season between each The Show iteration). However, this year I have progressed more by playing a series and then simming a series because I wanted to get to free agency and actually chose the team I want to be with.
I am a CF that was drafted by the White Sox in the first round back in 2014. I played the majority of 2014 in AA and AAA, getting called up in August to finish the season with the White Sox. I made the MLB team after spring training and became the starting CF at that time in 2015. I continued to play for them the next 5 seasons. We would win 3 World Series (I was MVP for two of them) and I would win AL MVP 4 out of the 6 seasons I was with the White Sox. I can't remember my actual stat line as of right now (since im at work - ill update it at a later point).
After the 2019 season, it became an arbitration year for me, so the White Sox offered a one year deal for about $13 million. I countered with $14 million (just to see what would happen) and they accepted. However, I was traded to the Padres after two weeks in to the 2020 season. This happened as a result of my agent asking if I wanted to play elsewhere and I responded by saying sure but if it doesn't happen then its ok. So for 2020, I spent the remaining season as the CF for the Padres. I ended up winning the NL MVP and we finished 1st in the NL West but would lose in the NLCS.
After the 2020 season, I was finally able to be a free agent. I had several teams offer a contract to me: Pirates, Mariners, Padres, Rockies, Marlins, and Royals. However, there were only two teams I wanted to play for: the Braves or the Red Sox. I finally got a contract offer from the Red Sox during the final weeks of free agency, so I decided to sign with them. They initially wanted an 8 year deal worth I think $240 million. I didnt want to stay that long in case I wanted to play elsewhere, so I countered with a 3 year deal worth $90 million. We both finally settled at 6 years $181 million.
So for 2021 (currently 25 years old), I am the CF for the Red Sox and we are currently 10-1. I do enjoy hitting at Fenway, as having the Green Monster is great for hitting, and also the short left field line is a bonus for HR's. Plus the ball park is amazing to play in. I may just finish out my career in Boston.
