Re: London Is RED | An Arsenal CM (FIFA 17)

Arsenal Football Club | December 2016 Update

Matchday #14 | London Stadium
Arsenal 1 - 0 West Ham
ARS - Sanchez (pen) 66’

No notes--whoops
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Group Stage - Matchday #6 | Parc des Princes
Arsenal 0 - 2 PSG
PSG - Cavani 82’ (pen), 86’

Shkodran Mustafi picked up a horrific red card in the 82’. Edinson Cavani converted the penalty, and Arsenal’s defense continued to self destruct, allowing Cavani in behind them to complete his brace just 4 minutes later. PSG wins the group as a result, and Arsenal draw Italian giants Juventus in the KO Round.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Matchday #15 | Emirates Stadium
Arsenal 1 - 1 Stoke City
STO - Bojan 30’
ARS - Walcott 47’

Bojan Krkić stunned the Gunners late in the 1st half to give Stoke the lead at the half--but the HT lashing the boys received kicked them into gear, as Theo Walcott found the equalizer just 2 minutes into the 2nd. Nobody else could find the goal, as Arsenal notched their first draw in the league this year.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Matchday #16 | Goodison Park
Arsenal 1 - 0 Everton
ARS - Gibbs 82’

A midweek fixture saw Arsenal travel to Goodison to take on Everton on a rainy Wednesday night. The game was deadlocked at 0 until Kieren Gibbs, a recent substitute was able to find the winner--an unlikely hero no doubt. Captain Koscielny’s set piece header rammed off the bar, coming right to Gibbs who finished the goal, and the Toffeees for his first goal of the campaign.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Matchday #17 | Etihad Stadium
Arsenal 1 - 0 Manchester City
ARS - Bellerin 21’

City dominated possession but a Mesut Ozil cross found a sprinting Bellerin for the game’s only goal early on. Very few opportunities for either side, lots of possession changes. A big 3 points for the Gunners.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Matchday #18 | Emirates Stadium
West Brom 0 - 1 Arsenal
ARS - Sanchez (pen) 56’

A stingy West Brom defense kept Arsenal from finding many opportunities, but a Berahino handall allowed Sanchez to notch his 15th goal of the season, giving Arsenal 3 more points on Boxing Day.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Matchday #19 | Emirates Stadium
Crystal Palace 1 - 1 Arsenal
CRY - Benteke 25’
ARS - Iwobi 41’

Shocking result for Arsenal to close 2016 with a draw to a team in the relegation zone. Gunners went down early but were able to equalize with a tremendous effort from Alex Iwobi.

***Manager Remarks***

December was a busy month, with the final Champions League group stage fixture that I botched to PSG (0-2), and 6 league games--in which I earned 14 of out a possible 18 points.

I head into January with just 5 matches on the schedule--including a back to back in the FA Cup and League away at Swansea, with home matches against Bournemouth (20th), Burnley (19th), and Watford (13th). Anything less than 9 points from those 3 will be exceptionally disappointing.

The January transfer window is opening, and I am looking at a big name attacking player. I've narrowed it down to Atlético Madrid's Antoine Griezmann and Juventus' Paulo Dybala. Griezmann fits the exact profile of what I want, but it's been reported that Atlético want £126M for him. I am considering offering less cash + Santi Cazorla--as he is getting up in age, and would welcome the thought of playing in his native country.

Re: London Is RED | An Arsenal CM (FIFA 17)

Arsenal's £100M Man?

Will Arsenal Set the New Transfer Record & Sign Griezmann?

LONDON – Word out of The Emirates today is that Atlético Madrid are willing to accept a £100M bid from Arsenal to secure the services of French International, Antoine Griezmann. Arsenal have made it known they are looking for a world class attacking player, and have been heavily linked to Griezmann, and Juventus’ Paulo Dybala.

The £100M fee would break the previous record set in 2016 when Manchester United purchased Paul Pogba from Juventus, for £89M. It remains to be seen if the Gunners will pay the sizeable fee. There have been other rumors flying that Santi Cazorla could be included in the deal, obviously knocking the asking price down by a considerable margin. Cazorla, who turned 32 in December—is having a fine run of form for Arsenal this year, but his playing time is limited behind the likes of Mesut Özil. It’s been reported that Alex Iwobi has been training some in the No. 10 role, as Arsenal could be grooming him to be the future in that spot behind Özil (28).

If Griezmann is brought in to North London, Arsenal would fancy multiple looks up front—with the Frenchman able to play up top, or on either wing. An attacking trio of Sánchez, Giroud, and Griezmann would be quite formidable—and surely wreak havoc on Premier League defenses.

Griezman would be a huge signing. Would be awesome to see him play with Sanchez attacking on the wings. And then having a big man in Giroud just waiting for the ball would be deadly I think!

ARS - Walcott (pen) 31’
ARS - Cazorla (pen) 90’

Glen Murray shocked David Ospina and Arsenal in just the 6’. Danny Welbeck would equalize just 4 minutes later from a beautiful through ball from Aaron Ramsey. Premier League Top Scorers
1. Sanchez (ARS) - 17
2. Defoe (SUN) - 10
3. Arnautovic (LEI) - 10
4. Montero (SWA) - 10
5. Coutinho (LIV) - 9

***MANAGER REMARKS

A good January was had at Arsenal Football Club, allowing just 1 goal in their 5 games--outscoring opponents 10-1, with 4 clean sheets for Petr Cech. They close January tied atop of the table (53 points) with Chelsea--who is next on the calendar, with a game in hand.

The transfer window saw them set a new world transfer record for Antoine Griezmann (£90M). Arsenal also brought in young French wonderkid Alban Lafont, a towering 6’4” 18 year old with loads of potential from Toulouse (£7M). With that new signing, it meant that David Ospina’s time in an Arsenal shirt has come to an end, as he was sent to Everton for £10M. Also on the way out is RB Mathieu Debuchy, heading to West Ham to the tune of £3.6M

February opens with a trip to Stamford Bridge, in which if there is a winner--they will be 3 points clear at the top. Chelsea, fresh off a 3-0 thrashing of Liverpool at Anfield will be prime to secure all 6 points from the Gunners--after beating them 2-0 back in September at The Emirates. The middle of the month will see the Gunners host 2 mid-table teams in Watford and Hull, followed by a massive Champions League fixture against Italian Champions Juventus.

Arsenal Football Club | February 2017 Update

5 February 2017
Matchday #23 | Stamford Bridge

Olivier Giroud’s set piece header was the difference maker, putting Arsenal 3 points clear of Chelsea.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

11 February 2017
Matchday #24 | Emirates Stadium
Hull City 0 - 0 Arsenal

A defensive stalemate ends in a 0-0 draw at The Emirates. A Kieren Gibbs send off in the 35’ allowed an aggressive Hull to stay in the match as a 10 man Arsenal couldn’t break down Hull’s defense. 2 valuable points given right back to Chelsea.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

18 February 2017
FA Cup - R16 | Kirklees Stadium
Arsenal 3 - 0 Huddersfield
ARS - Walcott (16’)
ARS - Walcott (40’)
ARS - Ramsey (71’)

A Theo Walcott brace propelled Arsenal into the QF of the FA Cup. Alban Lafont made his Arsenal debut, keeping a clean sheet against the Championship Side.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Champions League R16 | Emirates Stadium
Arsenal 1 - 1 Juventus
JUV - Dybala (22’)
ARS - Ozil (47’)

Arsenal appeared doomed for yet another R16 exit from the Champions League, but the Gunners came out resilient in the 2nd half when Mesut Ozil found the equalizer to give them hope before heading to Italy next month for the 2nd leg.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

26 February 2017
Matchday #25 | St. Mary’s Stadium
Arsenal 1 - 0 Southampton
ARS - Sanchez (21’)

Another 1-0 win for the Gunners who historically have not done well at St. Mary’s Stadium. A relatively early goal from Alexis put Arsenal out front, who would then sit back for most of the match. Petr Cech notched yet another clean sheet as Arsenal move 4 points clear of Chelsea.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Premier League Top Scorers
1. Sanchez (ARS) - 17
2. Defoe (SUN) - 12
3. Montero (SWA) - 11
4. Arnautovic (LEI) - 10
5. Lukaku (EVE) - 10

***MANAGER REMARKS***
Goals dried up a bit in February, but the Gunners still sit atop the league table heading into a very busy March. The opportunity for a treble remains alive, as they’re still fighting in the Premier League, Champions League, and FA Cup.

March will see Arsenal play 5 games the first 15 days of the month, with a huge away match in the Champions League at Juventus. The first leg ended 1-1 at The Emirates, so this one could go either way.

The Gunners have done a great job remaining healthy (for once), and Alexis Sanchez still leads the league in goals, Ozil leads in assists, and Cech leads in clean sheets. Arsenal will be looking to secure all 12 points available in March, and put this title race on ice.

Re: London Is RED | An Arsenal CM (FIFA 17)

My desire to play this CM has become nearly non-existent due to Arsenal's real life poor form.

I just have no will to play with these players ATM...
