Re: 49ers to get new stadium

Whoever it was in here that said that Candlestick wasn't in a good neighborhood hit it right on the head. The neighborhood surrounding that place is one place I would not want to be caught in at the wrong hour.

Plus, another problem with Candlestick is that the concourses are so small and compact. It's hard to maneuver around with everybody standing in line and pretty much in your way as you try to walk around.

Having said that, I will definitely miss Candlestick. The few times I've visited there, I always had a good time and had a lot of fun.

Re: 49ers to get new stadium

So I finally got to see the new Levis Stadium today. I must say, in my honest opinion, HALF the stadium looks amazing. But what is up with the other half?

On one side the seats go up and up and up and looks like its on top of the field.... just beautiful. But the other side is a small lower level which gives way to levels of clubhouses. Why? it looks disproportionate.

What do you think?

Re: 49ers to get new stadium

It's money.

Part of the reasons teams want a new stadium is to increaser the number of luxury boxes and other high-priced seats.

They want more corporations which can afford suites which go for over $100k per season, even if it means fewer seats that more middle-class fans could afford.

How was the view from the visitor's side, esp. higher up? Seems that the sun is in their face, coming from the south which is the home side with the clubhouse stack.

In some of the pictures I've seen, the upper level view doesn't look that bad at all. It looks like it's closer to the field.

The upper level view does look better than Candlestick's, that's for sure.

This article from 2001 kinda sums up how poor of condition Candlestick was in at one point.
