Re: NHL Off-Topic thread

Pretty fun looking back at those rosters.

Canada was so stacked.

A lot of the Russian guys just never panned out. Ovechkin and Malkin were obviously great. Radulov didn't have a particularly notable tournament, but after him there's not much for later success at all.

The University of Michigan had a strong representation for the US. But Hensick, Porter, and Montoya never took that next step. But Kessel, Callahan, Suter, Goligoski, Schneider, and Stafford all had high degrees of success.

Olesz for the Czech Republic had an awesome tournament after being a top 10 pick but again never materialized.

Tuukka Rask for Finland, David Krejci for Czech Republic, Thomas Greiss for Germany, Kostitsyn brothers for Belarus are also notables.

That canadian team had a lot of all stars in it...

Sweden had Loui Eriksson.

While not stars, the Czechs had 3 others who have had long NHL careers - Roman Polak, Ladislav Smid, and Michael Frolik

Re: NHL Off-Topic thread

Nassau Coliseum is shutting down, so whenever they do play home games next, Islanders will have to go back to Barclays for the time being.

So that's basically the entire 20-21 season and MAYBE start of 2021-22 season at worst.

His cap expertise didn't translate well into a GM. Wouldn't be stunned if the Pens brought him back in that same role he had before.

Re: NHL Off-Topic thread

Whoever takes over Sabres will have lots of room to do things.

Almost 40m in cap space with 3F, 5D, 1G signed. And room needs to be left for the Dahlin extension next year.

If I'm them I'd take a step back. They're not catching Bruins or Tampa on top their division.

Okposo is one name I'd expect they move. Johansson could also go if a team offers more for a season of him over a half season deadline move.

Re: NHL Off-Topic thread

Poor Sabres fans. This is their fourth GM heading up this rebuild.

I don't think they can move Okposo unless they kick in an asset, and a pretty significant one at that. While there are some good pieces on the roster, trying to "fix" a rebuild is a tough ask for any new GM.
