Madden 2010 News Post

Gamespot has posted their first look at Madden Ultimate Team, a free Madden NFL 10 add-on, coming in January.

Quote:
"I'd like to take complete credit for Madden Ultimate Team, but I know better than that. Ever since the From the Bleachers days--heck, ever since EA Sports released its collectible card feature back in UEFA Champions League 2006-2007--I've been clamoring for just such a card feature to make its way to other EA Sports games, and I've hardly been alone in that regard. Soon, those requests will be answered with Madden Ultimate Team, an upcoming feature update to Madden NFL 10 that mixes trading card collecting with fantasy football. And best of all? It's free."

I don't like it, but still why are they releasing it in January? Most people stop playing Football after the Super Bowl. I always play last game after the Super Bowl before it gets berried in my shelf.

Not sure Im enjoying this read

I mean what is this about? What's the purpose?

Why couldn't they spend this time in FRANCHISE MODE?

That is ****ing awesome. Madden Cards but 10X better. It's free as well!

Well done EA, well done.

I won't touch this.

I wish they would have spent time on the Patch #2 instead, but hey they don't make money from people buying credits if they just fix the game as it should have been released.

It'll be free, why not?

Frankly, this seems lame.

I'll stick to Franchise.

I can't believe they're wasting Josh Looman's talent on this.

Is this going to be in the patch?

I'm on dial-up, I don't need useless features adding 2 hours to my download time. (Example: the AFL Legacy pack being part of the last patch, even if you didn't buy it it's there, it just isn't unlocked).

Did anybody learn anything about the gameplay of this?

Just another cash grab, IMO.
No you read it wrong. You win coins for achieving certain milestones in game like rushing for 100 yards, passing for 300 yards and so on.

I don't see why people are upset at this? It's a free new game mode and how do we know it took time off anything they could have done on Franchise/Gameplay? If anything, Online Franchise took time off of Franchise/Gameplay, not this.

WAAW, I don't think it is part of the patch because they said they are planning for an early January release. *Cue haters saying the patch won't come out/will come out in January when nobody cares*

Was that in the article? I should probably learn to read. Lol.

Thanks for the info though. That makes me happy. Anything to keep the patch size down is good, in my eyes (outside of intentionally leaving things out that need to be fixed, that is.)

Good question. They aren't doing it out of the goodness of their hearts, that's for sure. I almost wonder if it's a way to keep people interested in Madden in the hopes of reducing sales of BackBreaker?

From Ian's twitter he said a seperate team made this. The developing team for Madden didn't waste their time on this. He also said he has no idea when the 2nd patch will come out

I guess you guys don't realise how 'the Ultimate Team' was so popular for FIFA even when it costed $10.

This is a fantastic concept. And its free.

Ya I didn't play Fifa but I read about Ultimate team and how people were so addicted to the mode. I thought it would be awesome for Madden. It is a fresh and different way to play the game. I am interested to see how it plays out.

Awesome, more icing on a great game. Being free is great to. This game will definitely not leave the system until 11' comes out.

So you build up a football team with your cards, and then take that "ultimate team" online and play other people's teams?
Interesting, I'll look into it when it's released.

Looks cool, will it work?
