According to Ronnie's Twitter account, the Major League Baseball 2K10 demos have been given release dates. 360 users will see the demo on February 23rd, while the PS3 folks see it on March 4th.

It has been confirmed the demo will be 3 innings, Phillies @ Yankees.

So what does that mean?

They worked on the 360 one and got it ready, but someone else did the PS3 one?

The sentence structure is confusing.

Anyhow.

Looking forward to Tuesday.

I figured something like this would happen. Normally this is an approval issue, and this definitely isn't the first time this happened between 2K and Sony.

I wouldn't say that we can fully blame 2K for this one, but there's something about their history with Sony where they haven't found a way to change this approval process for the better.

I have seen the exact same things happen with EA and others with MSFT.

Just the sentence structure through me off, and sounded like they worked on getting the 360 ready, while the other...

Yeah, I just think what he meant was that this wasn't on them, as they sent both in for approval at the same time and obviously Microsoft was okay to get the demo out the door on the alloted date. Obviously Sony wasn't quite keen on what they sent them, and probably had to go back for some type of memory optimization or something of another.

Honestly, it could just be that they don't want it to be released the same day as the demo for The Show (Sony, that is). I don't know if they're allowed to do something like that, but it could certainly be a lingering concern of theirs all the meanwhile.

Hopefully I'll have both games in my hands next week anyway, so that way the demo won't be of too much concern for me. But I can see why a lot of PS3 users can be skeptical at this point.

Well, we don't know if it was their fault. To me, when he says that it's "not on us", it sounds like they tried to get the PS3 demo out the same time as the 360, but Sony wouldn't release it till the 4th, and if that's the case, then it wouldn't be 2K's fault, so there would be no need for them to take the responsibilty for it being late, but we don't really know. It's all speculation really.

EDIT: what Blzr said

Man PS3 users sure seem to get the short end of the stick one these multi-platform titles. A shame. Looking forward to trying out the demo on the 360 though.

WOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

Sorry. Had to get that out. I wish there was a bundle for MLB 2K10 like there was for NBA 2K10, though I'd probably put the Longoria items on ebay or something.

I was hoping for a PC demo, but it does not seem the case. Maybe after the season starts.

Ronnie also said he doubts you can change the difficulty or slider settings.

2K knows they could have prepared the PS3 demo even earlier if they really cared about the sales on the platform.

But, whats done is done..

Yeah, that's what I'm guessing too.

But as I said, as a PS3 I'll definitely have the game in hand before the 4th if I want to try and get that $1 million. So I guess I won't have any gripes with that issue.

Oh speaking of which (non-demo related), with MLB Today do you think we're allowed to change said presentation settings and save them? Hopefully we don't have to stick with all defaults... just with difficulty settings.

Does it matter that the PS3 demo comes out late? Is anyone on PS3 going to buy it over The Show?

I'll probably check out the demo, but unless it really wows me, I'm going back to either MVP or High Heat on my PC for my baseball gaming this season. I really disliked 2k9.

WOW, March 4th for PS3 users, what crap that is.

I mean once again we get a demo after the game is released, just bad IMO.

Thanks for the info Steve.

My brother probably will. And I'd like to have seen it before both games come out. I'm only buying one game and I'd probably have to rent 2K10 to really give it a chance. I'd want to try the different levels out. Playing on Pro probably won't give me a good idea of what the game will do.

Probably not, but you would think that if 2K wanted to give their title a chance to compete on the PS3, they would've had the demo available earlier. As it is now, the game releases before the demo...which for 2K baseball has been a bad sign in the past....

Besides the obvious questions about the game, if I remember correctly in the past years the PS3 version has had issues the 360 did not...and while an update was promised it was never delivered. So a big factor towards buying the PS3 version may be how it actually performs...something we won't be able to know until it's actually released now.

i can already see this hurting their sales on ps3...smh

Maybe it makes a difference for people that need to buy the games on day one. The games will be available for purchase days/weeks/months after March 2nd. It's not like there will be no PS3 demo. And if a person is truly looking to do due diligence before purchasing the game they'll also weigh in reviews, opinions, etc. We've had lots of cross-platform games release a demo first on the 360, then on the PS3. It's also happened in reverse. One week shouldn't kill anyone if they're truly interested and not just looking for reasons not to like the game. And as others have said, for all we know Sony could be looking to give their first party game as much spotlight as possible. I don't know if that's the case, but it doesn't seem like that big a deal regardless. The over-dramatization of every single issue is ridiculous around here.

I vote A. I'm not trying to start anything, but it is kinda funny that Sony isn't gonna get that demo out quickly. I think that's why Ronnie made the comment about it "not being on us." But , hey, do you blame them? I'd give my first-party product priority too....

BTW: here's a bit of context. I am buying MLB2k10 for PC, so I'm not bashing. I had a PS3 for one week, bought it just for the "other" game. But felt that was dumb, especially after seeing what my PC could do with PES and NBA2k10. So I'm just making kind of a backhanded compliment at Sony. IMO, they are doing "Japanese Inspection"(see Days Of Thunder) on the demo, slow rolling it as not to advertize against their system seller.
