Could it be? ESPN is reporting Michael Jordan could possibly be the cover athlete for NBA 2K11.

Quote:
"While rumors pegged LeBron James, Derrick Rose, and even Tyreke Evans as favorites to appear on the cover of "NBA 2K11," multiple sources have told ESPN that the company has gone a completely different direction, opting to shoot for the moon in attempts to sign basketball legend Michael Jordan as their new spokesman."

What difference does it make? Do you really spend time staring at a cover?

I think 2k should focus on improving the current players and incoming rookies, instead of focusing on older players that already played the game. (Not taking anything away from MJ being on the cover.)

My cousin and I were having a convo on potential cover athletes, and I came up with

Derek Rose
KD
Ty"reke havoc" Evans
LBJ

but man MJ?????????? That caught me way off guard. Good marketing move by 2k. The mere mention of MJ will sell millions of copies.

Awsome and to me the only shot that should be used on the cover would be the dunk from free throw line.

They should have MJ on a limited edition cover, and a current player on the regular copy.

EPIC, I have been wating and asking for classic teams since 2K5. Jordan the Legend on the cover of NBA2K11, this is great news. Forget Lebron, Kobe, or whoever, this is MJ. If they put him in the game and have is sig shot accurate this will be great. Great move by 2K, great marketing also by 2K, who wouldn't buy a basketball game with Jordan on the cover. Mike Wang returns and now this, 2K must be pretty confidant in there product.

Now, if they can convince MJ to buy the NFL license for them...mmmm

What do you think MJ will do if 2K doesn't get his face right?

I nominate this pic just to illustrate how 2k has owned EA.

I'm a MJ fan just as a Pistons fan. Can't be? Sure can. MJ will forever be #1 for me. Way before any Piston.

I'm just a bit worried that 2K falls for the gimmick trap. Watch out 2K, you haven't become what you've become because of gimmicks...

It really makes sense that they maybe going this route, there is a ton of uncertainty of where top cover candidates are headed this summer (James, Bosh, Stoudemire, Wade, etc.), he's still got plenty of cache' with today's NBA fans. There are 100's of created versions of Jordan through 2KShare and the modding community has dozens of versions for the PC. They've already included a dunk package dedicated to him with a clamoring to "accurately" re-create him. Now, we'll see another fleshed out version of him like 2K2 and 2K3 (unstoppable on 90's East). Hopefully, this means we'll have plenty of Jordans to choice from throughout his career and the legends will have more accurate accessories.

This would be Legendary! And 2K11 would have to be the ULTIMATE Basketball game.

It's only being rumored at this point. It isn't a done deal.

Hopefully this also means we'll get just about every Jordan shoe in the game now.
