Patrick Peterson or Haden should be in the top 5. Brent Grimes and Trufant have a good case also.

Interesting that all top 5 CBs are under 90 SPD...that's probably a first.

I like that Sean Smith finally got some recognition. He doesn't have elite CB speed, but plays to his strength, which is his height. He will be clutch to stop those aggressive catches.

I expect both Haden and Peterson to be 88-90 still.

PP had a bit of a rough year. Haden probably has a better case.

Regardless......

I'm concerned.

The speed rating re-scaling seems to only be in effect for vets. I don't mind the speed ratings being lowered across the board. I do mind that rookies and draft classes might not have the new speed rating parameter.

Melvin Gordon and Gurley faster than the top 5 cbs. Beasley and Fowler as fast or faster than top 5 CBs

If we are drafting 30+ guys a year with 94+ speed/accel what's the point?

Harris Jr is hands down the best corner, bar none. Gave up ZERO touchdowns last season with a .57 yards per catch on passes his way.. In almost 600 snaps

He wasn't really guarding number 1s tho

Neither was Sherman.. I'd bet money that Harris followed the #1 or #2 as much as, if not more than what Revis did

Sherman stayed strictly to one side and never moved or followed a top WR

Harris is phenomenal. Every football metric analyser that I saw ranked him in the top 5 of cbs last season. He's more quick than fast, based on why I've seen on tv, hope his agility and acceleration are higher than then the 89 speed

I won't say he's the best, but he belongs in the top 5

Nice surprise to see Sean Smith on the list. I didn't think there'd be any way he would make it but he had a really nice season last year.

It's going to be interesting to see how this whole SPD thing works out. I wish they'd go more into it. It almost seems like they just dropped everyone but in a way where pretty much everyone will be bunched in the 80's and low 90's. Jamaal Charles got knocked 6 points from 98 to 92 but Sherman only went from 91 to 87. And then there's the rookies who don't seem to have been adjusted yet. I'd assume draft classes have been tweaked but with CFM the way it is, it's hard to say. A lot of questions left unanswered.

I'm just trying to figure out what they're using to determine the new speed ratings. I haven't found a stat yet that points to Melvin Gordon being faster than Chris Harris. It might exist, I just haven't seen it yet.

The altered speeds won't be a problem as long as they apply to everybody in the game.

I still think, for whatever reason, whatever adjustment they made wasn't or hadn't been applied to the rookies when they released the ratings but it's hard to say until they release the full spread sheets to see if anything has changed. I don't know how that possibly would or could be the case but the rookie SPD ratings seem too off compared to everything else released so far.

Im very surprised Patrick Peterson didn't make it or Haden. Happy about Sherman tho

# 13 DeuceDouglas @ 07/30/15 03:49 PM
I just went back through all the ratings to see how much SPD has or hasn't been adjusted and I don't know what they did but there really isn't any sort of pattern. Nearly everybody has been lowered but there are a couple that have been raised (Bell and Donald). But some have gone down as much as seven when some as low as one so I'm not really sure if that's the only thing they did to speed or what but it's weird. Seems like overalls are down a bit as well.

Marshawn Lynch 90-->85
Adrian Peterson 97-->90
Jamaal Charles 98-->92
DeMarco Murray 94-->89
Le'Veon Bell 86-->88
Antonio Brown 91-->90
Dez Bryant 92-->89
Odell Beckham Jr. 93-->92
Julio Jones 95-->92
Rob Gronkowski 83-->82
Jimmy Graham 85-->85
Aaron Donald 81-->82
Richard Sherman 91-->87
Darelle Revis 93-->88
Vontae Davis 93-->88
Chris Harris Jr. 91-->89
Sean Smith 88-->86

Surprised no one mentioned how in one of the preview pictures for Madden 16 it had Russell Wilson at 86 speed. So he's just a bit slower than Sherman and as fast as Smith. Maybe he is, I dunno, but I wonder how that'll influence people like Kaepernick and i can't think of another fast QB unless they decide to preserve Vick being one of the fastest QBs in the NFL.

Mariota has 88 speed.. So he's a notch below these corners

Thrilled to see Harris and Smith make the cut, and equally as thrilled to see Peterson not in the top 5.

Haden for sure but Patrick Peterson is a little overrated & this is coming from a Cardinals fan who lives in Phoenix. He has all the physical tools & size you would want out of a CB, but he's undisciplined in coverage & gets burned a lot. Trust me I watch every Cardinals game & have been to several games in person. I think EA got this one right (with an argument for Haden)

Played vs non number 1 wrs and the Broncos had a great pass rush

Seattle's and New England's pass rush is nothing to scoff at. From a sheer grading standpoint, Chris Harris graded higher than anyone. And it wasn't even close

So RBs seemingly have taken biggest hit, but both the rookies (Gordon and Gurley) have 91 Speed, if I am not mistaken, so they are faster than AP and just a step behind Charles. Just seems off to me. I dunno.

Maybe there is some grand plan from EA as far as these ratings affecting gameplay in a positive way this year.

Edit

Maybe they have weighted the physical attributes (speed, agility, strength, acceleration) to count less towards the OVR rating?
