Angels and Blue Jays Trade Breakdown

Trade Breakdown: Jays and Angels Swap Outfielders

Both teams are getting young outfielders that have shown that they have potential. The difference however, may not occur to the simple baseball fan. J.B. Schuck, the player that the Blue Jays are receiving from the Angels, uses speed, a high batting average and a good on-base percentage to succeed. This is almost contrary to Sierra�s method of producing offense. Sierra is more of a hitter with gap-to-gap power, with the ability to pull the ball down the line, resulting in his three home runs this season compared to the zero provided by Shuck. With this said, let�s get to the breakdown of the trade:

Toronto Blue Jays
The Blue Jays are getting a player that is ready to contribute at the MLB level. Schuck has the ability to get on base where he can utilize his speed in order to create run scoring opportunities for his team. His fielding is also about average for someone his age. He has the ability to track down ball and will almost always give it his all on the baseball diamond. Even with his ability to play at the Major League level, he will likely be sent to Triple-A Buffalo for some seasoning with the fact that the Blue Jays roster is full at the moment.

Los Angeles Angels
What the Angels are getting in Moises Sierra is a player who has very good hitting tools as well as high potential to provide offense for the team. Although he has developed very well offensively, he has shown that he needs some more time in the minors to develop his fielding skills. During limited action with the Blue Jays last season, Sierra dropped three balls in the outfield that should have been caught and would have been caught by the outfielding the Angels are sending in, J.B. Schuck.
