Whatever happened to the courtesy wave?!

Yeah, this isn't sports, but it relates to driving, and we drive to stadiums, right? So whatever happened to the courtesy wave? I let a guy in from an on-ramp, and I get nothing. I've even been flipped off because I waved at them first after letting them in. What's happening to us that we've entirely forgotten how to be courteous? If someone obviously slows down and allows you into a lane, wave to them and say thanks! It lets them know you appreciated their kindness, and they're more likely to do it in the future. If everyone did this, there'd be less jerks on the road (and less accidents!).

I always wave.. people are just turning into jack-asses and taking things way too seriously.

But there is an exception to this rule. I hate when some idiot cuts you off and then gives you the wave, as if that is OK!

Great post, you are so correct. It just seems like people act like they're doing you a favor when you let them in traffic. I truly don't know what the world is coming to when people can't do something as simple as a little acknowledgment for kindness shown by you!

I think this has a lot to do with where you live/where you're driving.. The wave is pretty common in DC, but whenever I'm driving in VA, it's pretty much nonexistent.. Not to mention VA has some of the worst drivers in the country, maybe the world..

The general quality of drivers id definitely on the decline everywhere though..

I wave also, Even if I'm in my golf cart going for a spin to test the wheels I wave at my neighbors don't see why society doesn't wave anymore.
