Romero scattered five hits while striking out five and keeping the Mets hitters off balance all afternoon. J.P. Arencibia, Edwin Encarnacion, and Joe Bautista homered for Toronto. Ike Davis drove in the only run for the visiting Mets with a solo shot off Romero in the 5th.
The Jays are 18-22 and still find themselves 10 games behind Boston in the AL East.
