YES (Justin Mikels)

Baseball is becoming that once-hot girl with plenty of good qualities going for her... but that personality -- man, oh man -- she really knows how to push the best things out of her life. No one is good enough for her. She made up her mind what she wanted in a man several years ago and she ... Read More

Mind…blown.

That was the common response surrounding Chris Weidman’s stunning knockout of former champion Anderson Silva on Saturday night at UFC 162 in Las Vegas.

The loss signified an end to the longest defense of any UFC belt (10) as well as Silva’s UFC record for most consecutive wins (16). As far as losses in UFC history go, this one ... Read More

1. Memphis take 3-1 series lead over Oklahoma City.
The Grizz are now one game away from putting away the Thunder. Most believe the Thunder with Westbrook steamroll over the Grizz, but without him they become as vulnerable as any other team. Can Memphis make a serious run at the title?

2. Bryce Harper's face lands flush against Dodger Stadium wall. ... Read More

1. Cubs owner threatens to move the Cubs out of Wrigley.
Cubs owner, Tom Ricketts, has said he will take the team out of Wrigley Field if his demands for upgrades aren't met. Ricketts' main talking point is that the stadium needs a large video scoreboard in left field. Although this would generate what Rickett's considers needed revenue, my feeling ... Read More

It takes a lot for me to react to a televised baseball game in such a way that I wake up the kids by yelling “Oh S---!” I didn’t think ahead and yell for them to put on their earmuffs ala Old School, nor did I have the courtesy to respect the fact that my wife had just spent the last hour putting them to sleep. In essence, I was selfish, and it’s all Carlos Quentin’s fault.

I try to catch ... Read More

The buzz inside Honda Center on Saturday night was electric. Months of marketing and planning for the UFC and their newest star was finally being put to work.

And you know what? It couldn't have gone any better.

Ronda Rousey and Liz Carmouche headlined the UFC 157 card in Anaheim, California this past weekend and their fight did not disappoint. Sure, the fight ... Read More

The NBA All-Star Break is coming up and I already feel like a beaten mule. Being a Lakers fan will do that to you.

Over the last week I've read about Steve Nash not being happy with Dwight Howard. Kobe Bryant saying Howard needs to suck it up and play through his injury. And the grand-daddy of them all when Howard's Dad told the media that Coach Mike D'Antoni ... Read More

As the sun rose up over parts of Florida and Arizona this morning, there was a sense of anticipation and relief.

Anticipation amongst the pitchers and catchers who would be entering their spring training facilities for the first time this year, and relief from fans who could finally sense that the 2013 season was not too far away.

For many baseball fans, today ... Read More

Seven years ago Anderson Silva lost a fight to Yushin Okami due to a disqualification for an illegal up-kick. Since then "The Spider" has rattled off 17 consecutive wins (14 in the UFC).

In every sport, we have the new crop of athletes compared to the greatest of all time. Although it's fair to debate it, I would believe the majority of fans consider Silva the greatest MMA fighter of all time.

“You’re going to see the old Rampage”

How many times have we heard this statement from Quinton “Rampage” Jackson over the last couple of years?

I still remember how excited I was to hear the news of Jackson coming to the UFC to fight Marvin Eastman in 2007. I’ve pulled for him even when he didn’t deserve to have fans support him. The last straw for me was watching ... Read More

As I tuned in to Oprah’s OWN network (which took a few laps around the guide) to witness Lance Armstrong confess to everything he’s denied over the last decade, I wasn’t sure exactly what I was going to gain from this.

I’m not really into cycling, and the cyclist (they refer to themsevles as "bikers") that I see in my city are typically blowing through stop signs and pissing off people who ... Read More

On my way home this evening I was listening to the Petros and Money show on AM 570. They were in the midst of explaining a story in which Notre Dame linebacker, Manti Te’o, purposely made up the story about having a girlfriend named Lennay Kekua and her sad story of getting into a car accident and dying of leukemia.

As of right now, the well-researched story on Deadspin is just that – a story. Te’o ... Read More

I was sitting inside a restaurant earlier this evening with some pretty bad phone reception. The app I use to check scores was only displaying one line of scores before timing out. In this case I saw "Lakers 112". As I tucked the phone back into my pocket I felt fairly confident that my beloved purple and gold had taken one on the road in Houston.

Granted, Houston does average around ... Read More

As you know by now the NHL and the NHLPA have reached a tentative agreement, ending a long and drawn out labor dispute which nearly wiped away another season.

The season will either consist of 50 games and begin on January 15, or 48 games with a start date of January 19. It is also widely speculated that the truncated schedule will feature matchups only within the team's respective ... Read More
