After another disappointing season in 2008-2009 that saw the Coyotes finish with a 36-39-7 record, and miss the playoffs for a seventh straight season, the franchise looks to turn the ship around for the 2009-2010 season.
The 2009 offseason was full of uncertainties for the club. Blackberry owner, Jim Balsillie attempted to purchase the club, and relocate them to Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. The NHL rejected this purchase, and then before the start of the regular season, the courts also stated Balsillie could not relocate the team.
