Fantasy Sleepers
Posted on August 16, 2011 at 09:48 PM.
These are some players who I see being surprisingly good this fantasy year:

- Eddie Royal (Denver WR)~ Had a breakthrough Rookie year, but received less playing time with Josh McDaniels. With him gone, Royal should see some more playing time.

- Kevin Boss (Oakland TE)~ Zach Miller was a beast in Oakland. With him gone, the Raiders picked up Boss. He should arise as a favorite target.

- Ryan Fitzpatrick (Buffalo QB)~ I'm not saying he'll be amazing. I'm just saying he will probably be a good backup you can draft in the later rounds, because he is a pretty sure starter.

- Felix Jones (Dallas RB)~ Raise your hand if you think Romo is an elite starter. He should have some solid playing time.

- Jabbar Gaffney (Washington WR)~ Washington traded for Gaffney in this off season, and even though they don't have an elite QB, he is a solid WR. He could be a last round/Free Agent steal.

I would agree with Felix Jones, with Barber now gone the starting job is all his now. He also played well near the end of the seson. Having Fitzpatrick on my team, I can tell you that if he can play near the level he did last season, he'll be great. You also made some good points about Boss.

What do you think about these guys:

Tim Hightower, RB, Redskins-Perfect fit for Mike Shannahan's zone blocking scheme, it looks like he'll get the starting job this year and he played great in Week 1 of the pre-season. He was a big part of their gameplan. The Shannahan factor entices me to liking him this year.

Kevin Kolb, QB, Cardinals-I've been a big fan of Kolb for a while, so maybe I'm a bit biased, but I really think he has what it takes to be a quality quarterback. Given Larry Fitzgerald and reliable tight end Todd Heap, I think he could put up some solid numbers this year.

Jimmy Graham, TE, Saints-This is a guy that Drew Brees really likes, and will look for him when they get in the red zone. With Jeremy Shockey now gone, Graham will get more time on the field, and with that explosive offense, could really break out this year. He played well down the stretch when Shockey got hurt as well, so that's a good sign.

Jahvid Best, RB, Lions-He had a great first couple of weeks to start the year in 2010, but got slowed down by a turf toe injury, which hurt his production for most of the season. He's healthy now, and with the season-ending injury to rookie Mikell Leshoure, is hte clear-cut starter. He'll also help in PPR leagues too as he seems to get thrown a fair number of screen passes.

Beanie Wells, RB, Cardinals-With Tim Hightower gone, Wells will get the majority of touches in Ken Wisenhunt's offense. If he can stay healthy, I am confident he can break through this year.

Josh Freeman, QB, Buccaneers-Don't know if he counts as a sleeper since he broke through last year, but he is one of my more favourite under the radar guys. He does a great job of taking care of the ball (only threw 6 INTs last year), and can hurt you passing and running the ball. He plays in a tough divison, which might hurt his numbers, but I love Freeman, and am extremely happy to have him on my keeper team for just $5.

Matthew Stafford, QB, Lions-He looked great against the Bengals in the pre-season this week. Obviously the injury bug is a little scary, but if he stays healthy, look out.

Julio Jones, WR, Falcons-Just a rookie, but is already a sleeper for me. I've heard nothing but good things about this guy, Falcon players can't stop raving about him. He was also targeted a lot by Matt Ryan against the Dolphins in Week 1 of the pre-season, even taking an end around on one play. Great value in regular and keeper leagues.

I know, I have a lot of sleepers I guess lol, but there you have it. What do you think?

I think Hightower should be pretty good, Shany runs the ball a lot.

Kolb might not be bad, he has a pretty solid WR group, and he plays the Rans, 49ers, and Seaawks twice a year.

Graham could be a solid TE you can pick up in a late round.

Jahvid Best I'm honestly not a fan of. With Stafford/Megatron. Plus, he seems to be a bit injury prone.

Beanie Wells looks like he could be a pretty good guy to draft.

Freeman and Stafford I think will be below average starters or a great backup this year for Fantasy teams. I like Stafford (If he's healthy) more than Freeman, personally.

Julio Jones I honestly don't know much about.
