TheBauerHour's Blog
This is the first of my daily blogs, giving the point of view of a Cleveland sports fan and the roller coaster in emotions it can bring. Each day will focus on one or two main topics, focusing on the Browns, Indians, Cavaliers, Buckeyes (football & basketball), as well as high school football in Ohio. Feedback would be much appreciated but is not an obligation.
The cut runs even deeper than most would have liked in Columbus, Ohio today. Reports surfaced about more possible wrongdoings by the student-athletes on the Ohio State football team; This time, car deals that may have been shady. Most specifically, a gently used Chrysler 300 purchased by former Ohio State player Thaddeus Gibson in 2009 for “$0”, according to the title. Gibson has come out and said that he does not why the title states that the car was purchased for nothing and insists he is still paying for the car today. This doesn’t bode well for anybody in the situation Ohio State is in. Ohio State is already in some pretty hot water after Jim Tressel, Terrelle Pryor and “tattoo-gate”. Tressel, Pryor and other Ohio State players are already serving 5-game suspensions for the beginning of this season, and many thought THAT was not enough punishment. If these new allegations ring true, Ohio State could face playoff bans, loss of scholarships and even Tressel resignation.

We all saw what happened to USC, Pete Carroll bolted to the NFL. Tressel has protected Pryor for too long, it's just too bad Pryor never lived up to expectations on and off of the field. I love what Tressel brought to Ohio State before the Pryor era, but he has screwed up big time now and this might cost him his job.

So Cal @ May 7
I'm a due hard USC fan and everytime I think about what Pete Carrol has left us with and how it has affected us it makes me upset. That being said I do think that based on what has already come out against Ohio state it seems that the punishment is not enough. I respect coach tressel but to see nothing more than a suspension being handed down seems so unfair especially most of the problems at so cal involved players no longer with the program. I expect that with this new info coming out that Ohio state will face further punishment, and the NCAA will look to make a statement and coach tressel will be forced to resign.

Tressel needs to resign, take a year or two off and return at a smaller school and rebuild his reputation.
