Super Bowl XLV Stuck

Baltimore crush Cowboys in Super Bowl.

The Baltimore Ravens are once again World Champions after a stunning display in Super Bowl XLV, as they deystroyed The Dallas Cowboys 31 - 7 in front of a partisan Texas crowd.

As the cliche goes, Defence wins Championships, and The Baltimore defensive unit assuredly made that comment a truism. The tone of the game was set on the first possession as Dallas lined up on 2 and 6. Romo looked to flight the ball to WR Roy Williams in the flat only for Ravens corner Dominique Foxworth to leap and snag the interception. Ray Rice, The Super Bowl MVP, signalled his intent when he glided through to score the first of his 2 touchowns 5 plays later, scoring from 2yds untouched.

Any thoughts of a see saw game after The Ravens defence again came at Romo, sacking him for a loss of 6 on the very next play, forcing the Cowboys 3 and out. The Ravens took full advantage as they drove up the field, and when Donnald Brown scampered in from 5yds The Ravens fans were already starting to believe., even though only 12 minutes had been played. Dallas just couldn't find a way through The Ravens, being forced into a long range field goal, which Buehler missed from 46yds. The Ravens again crossed the line in the 2nd quarter whne Flacco found an unmarked Todd Heap in the endzone on an 11yd fade to make the score 21 - 0 at half time.

The third quarter was a quieter affair, as neither team could exert any control with the ball, and the score remained the same untill 12 minutes from time when Jon Kitna, who had come on for the dejected Romo, found TE John Phillips in the endzone to give The Cowboys a glimmer of hope, as they narrowed the gap to 21 - 7. ll hopes of an **** fightback were dashed as The Ravens found their run game again, as both Rice and Brown marched the Ravens up the field whilst winding down the clock. The pressure finally told as Rice claimed his second of the game when he went in from 9yds. S Graham put the final nail in The Cowboys coffin when he powered over the FG from 49yds to make the final score 31 - 7.
